Great job on salvaging and upgrading this old truck. I always enjoy your Father's Day builds and this does complement the fire truck and fire station nicely.

Sometimes I feel like I'm seeking redemption when I restore a project I butchered in my younger years.

Good piece of info to have. Although I wonder if it was a change that applied over a couple of years depending on the engine plant. My father had 1982 Mercury Cougar wagon (only car he ever bought new!) That came with the straight 6 and I distinctly remember the engine being blue. That is why I always think Ford engine blue! Although my mid-80's Taurus had a grey engine. Again thanks for the info.
