WOW! You certainly do have an eye for reissuing things! I would have never thought of taking that leather couch and reassembling it into a modern wooden base! That would have been a masterpiece for sure!!! That's why we watch you, besides your personality, you have the greatest ideas and workmanship!
Great Idea for the campaign style desk to be split in half, painted yellow and redesigned as two different night tables. Symmetrical night tables are awfully, I agree. I also like your ideas on lamps and their shades.
Love your vlogs were you have the amazing insight to bring loved items a new life. When my Mum passed away, there was one piece of furniture that my sisters and I struggled to either sell or donate. It was her dressing table. None of us had room for it. So bravely one day my husband and I took it apart and made it into 2 bedside tables or as you would say night stands. They look great and we have kept a part of Mum with us.
I interpreted the "what if" rendering as an illustration of a thrifted leather reuse concept, based on a Mel Smilow walnut case sofa as a starting point for the frame, not as a finished piece. We're seeing the sides of the wooden frame to support the cushions, but not the actual armrests. On Modern Hill Furniture's channel, there are examples of the Smilow case sofa and the lounge chair filled with upholstered cushions. And I've posted images on my Community tab.
I love the nightstand idea, and the idea you had for the dining table and 3 chairs. When I saw those plywood chairs, my first thought was to go with bright paint and/or colorful graphic art decoupage, so I liked that your mind went there, too. Thanks for the video!
I just found your channel today and I’m now subscribed. I’m so impressed - I was shocked you were able to envision a way to make that blue 80’s lamp quite attr. Bravo.
At first glance, the royal blue lamp gave me 80s vibes until you presented your vision for it. The black, square shade would look amazing. Possibly dust bronze or antique gold in the crevices of the body of the lamp to draw the eye to those Art Deco curves. Dry brushing the metallic on the black would keep the look more mellow vs vibrant hard lines in the crevices. Hard lines would give off too much glam.
Loved the cabinet with the art deco hardware. I would remove the Queen Anne feet and replace with something more period appropriate.. They just don't work with those stunning drawer handles. You really have some great creative instincts!!
Great video! I wanted to share something random, I went to the Hoover Dam and did the electrical tour. We went down the Art Deco elevator and into the bowels of the damn. All of the metal items from the light fixtures, doors, and ash trays from art deco era at the Hoover Dam (interiors) are polished aluminum. I didn't know that and thought it very interesting to share. Thanks for the video
Make the lamp pewter like pot metal. That was used back in day. Think the Chrysler bldg. A black pagoda shade with red lacquer inside to reference Chinese moderne, an overlapping design timeline.
PS, I did once cut up a perfectly good, comfy couch, because I was unable to give it away (and we never used it). I ended up taking one of the recliner ends with one armrest, and attached the armrest from the other end of the couch onto it, to make one extra wide and comfy recliner for my son's room. He got a lot of good use out of it, and I was able to reuse some other parts from the couch to reupholster a trash find footstool, and I used the foam for...something, probably to do with Halloween, lol. Couches and chairs just aren't as complicated as they look, once you get in there and see how they are put together.
If you have the space for one more small cabinet -- and the desire to pursue projects involving the sewing of real leather or drapery-weight materials -- scour the estate sales for a vintage Pfaff sewing machine. Even those with decades of service can still do the job.
Remember: genuine leather will *smell* like leather. The fake stuff (which may be cruelty-free but is still problematic to the environment) will not have the same odor.

15:22 -- Excellent concept for setting warm leather cushions into a sleek, modern frame!
Thanks! I hope I get to do it at some point!
The arm rests on the "what if" piece seem so uncomfortable.

I would have definitely bought the vintage Memphis Design saucer lamp next to the colour drenched table lamp you were looking at.
I totally missed that! Great eye!
You're always so inventive. Thanks for sharing!
Love these thrift redo videos. Such great inspiration.

I have always and always will love the deco style!
I really love the sofa idea! Can't say I'd ever do it myself but it would look great
Thanks Sarah!

Excellent assessment of the legs! I knew something felt off about that!

Great ideas! You really have a good eye for quality items at the thrift store.
Aw thanks Suzy!

Oh that sounds awesome! Good for you for being brave!
Love your videos! ❤
Thanks for watching! ❤️
I'm not wild about leather furniture. It feels weird to me, BUT your idea for transforming that sofa is gorgeous.❤
Aw thanks! I love the look and durability of leather but I get you 👍🏻
The art deco piece with the door knocker style hardware had what must have been replaced legs. They were bad.
I was wondering about that! They definitely don’t match the style of the piece! Great eye
Those legs cannot be original. The hardware is fab. Maybe a black stain, but never paint. Then the silver tone hardware would be perfect.
Great ideas. I hope your fans will remember that a good old desk can be not only night stands and vanities but also… desks.
Haha good point 🙌🏻
I wonder if paint stripper would improver the mid century painted pink lamps? Couldnt hurt, and you could still paint them.
