The Navy should adopt that camouflage Skjold with the "Super Rabbit" they showed. Not the one they chose recently. The Skjold looks like it's a twin-hull or catamaran design with that flat, flat profile, which makes it extremely hard to hit or see in any kind of serious weather with large waves. Gets lost to radar. The Super Rabbit is what our Navy should be talking about, not the system they are using. The new Navy patrol craft is kind of a wimp whereas this system kicks ass! 16,000 HP at 55 mph. Not too shabby.
It is not a flat profile, it is a skirt at the front. The Skjold design is a surface effect craft, constructed of glass fibre/carbon composite materials. Buoyancy is augmented underway by a fan-blown skirted compartment between the two rigid catamaran-type hulls. This provides an alternative solution to the planing hull/vee hull compromise: the air cushion reduces wave slam at high speeds while presenting a low-drag flat planing profile at the waterline.
A russian man claimed that the russians had paid Dockstavarvet to get the drawings and get help in building it so then it has to be approved by the Swedish defence department.
