I thought this was excellent! I saw the original way back in the 70's when I was a teen. I happened to re-watch it last year randomly. If you don't appreciate the first movie then you might not get this one. Great recap!
It's a missed opportunity. The story was a paint by numbers and was not scary, or even creepy. They had a chance to add on to the lore of the first movie, by exploring the motivation of a person who joins a cult. The characters come off one dimensional, because they played it safe.
@oscartheamericanoutlaw4572 what are you talking about? it is a HORROR movie, it has been known as a horror movie for decades, and the scary feeling is what you suppose to get from a horror movie.
I liked it. The dancing at the end wasn't to distract them. It was her taking control. She had been out of control and not able to do what she wanted as the spawn was controlling her. Earlier in the movie she was asked why she dances. She said it is the only time she feels in control. That's why she was able to jump out the window despite the grasp the spawn had on her.
There was a sequel to Rosemary's Baby in the 70's, she does indeed raise her son, and tries to make him good. *Edit: It's called "Look what's happened to Rosemary's baby". I think there was a book too, but I can't remember the title.
The biggest positive I can give is the acting from Kevin McNally and Dianne Wiest. I like Dianne and it was nice to see her play a villain for change; she scared the absolute hell out of me in the haircut scene! Kevin McNally it was cool to see him again and I thought he did a great job. Julia Garner did fine but I think the script was what failed. There was a lot of inconsistences with the plot, like they didn't have Rosemary and Terry meeting or talking. Also the dumb poor man's rendition of the Rosemary's Baby lullaby in the ending.. what the hell?!?
rosemary and terry actually met in the movie. after terry saw a baby in the washing machine in the laundry room, we can actually see rosemary enter the laundry room too through the elevators. she has the same blonde pigtails she had from the original rosemarys baby. although it was just a brief, blink-and-you'll-miss-it scene, i think that it's actually enough to subtly show that their characters had a connection. the prequel's focus is on terry, after all.

It’s actually safer today. Back when I grew up we were trained to think of all grownups as safe. And children were never believed when they reported bad grownups. If anything, your parents would punish you for “lying about that priest or uncle”. Also people did not understand basic psychology. They would assume that because you did not fight your assailant to the point of him almost killing you, you must have wanted it. And finally, we did not know the mind tricks and the drugs these people use. The only reason statistics seemed lower is because victims carried their assault as a secret.

I have a question about the Laundry room scene. It was particularly confusing to me, because the woman who stumbles upon Terry while doing her laundry looks a lot like Rosemary, but unlike in the first movie, where Terry and Rosemary stop and talk, this interaction doesn’t happen at all. If the woman is supposed to be Rosemary, it would disrupt the events of the original story, since Rosemary moves into the apartment after Mrs. Gardenia dies, but in the prequel, she’s still alive during these events. Could somebody please explain the secretive smirk shared by the elderly couple at the very end? None of the explanations include it. -------> I found the primal parts of this whole piece (on its own) incredibly startling. At that age, we are seeking our own place and success in the world. It's a transition between learning about ourselves and others. We are in limbo determining who and how to trust (especially if that wasn't present in the foundation of one's upbringing). It makes sense to be drawn to those who seem like pseudo parents when, in fact, they are predatory. It's noticeable in piecemeal how Minnie is increasingly abusive from neglecting Terry's beginning protests to cutting her ear during the haircut to pressuring Terry to let them adopt her "baby". Without the Satanic component it could be filmed as a documentary: young woman trying to make her way in the big city, offered free rent by seemingly helpless and compassionate elderly couple, is set up on a blind date by said couple, is raped on date, becomes pregnant and is forced (through religious beliefs) to have the child. It's a little too close to home in this monster stage of evolution we are currently residing.

Hmmm I actually enjoyed this a little more than The First Omen. Even though they’re the same movie. Probably because the “final girl”. Plus Marli Siu is in it
This version of the apartment 78 is actually very good and quite frightening.. point being that if you are a pretty girl under 5 foot 7 linear broke in living in a large municipality be very careful with who you associate with. You will be taken advantage of unused and used and used
Honestly the part I feel most interested in is the themes presented. Rose kept the baby because of her religious upbringing. I wonder if any of that were to be real and actually happen how many Christian’s would stick to their pro life stance or how many of them would instantly forsake their belief as “an exception” and demand the unborn child be aborted. Or if there would be any that would say to keep it and try to raise it to be good.
Finally, the widespread, almost frantic clamoring for a Rosemary's Baby prequel has been satisfied. If the brainboys in Hollywood will finally give me the Marty prequel I've been waiting for, I can die happy.
Did you get the references to Mary? 1. The bloody Mary drink that Minnie had in the morning 2. The Rosemary ingredient in the ointment Miss Gardenia made for her foot. 3. The statue of the Mother Mary in the church . 4. The crown behind Terri making her look like the Virgin Mary as she looked down at the baby bassinet. 5. When the cultists all shouted hail Mary! Did I miss any?😁😁😜

I wonder if any of that were to be real and actually happen how many Christian’s would stick to their pro life stance or how many of them would instantly forsake their belief as “an exception” and demand the unborn child be aborted. Or if there would be any that would say to keep it and try to raise it to be good.
The child never exceeded its teacher, Hugh Hefner or inspiration, Jack Warner.
Felt a little too long, but if you just skip through some dull parts it works. Overall, i liked it.
I give the movie a 6 lol wasn't bad I watched it the whole way through so that's a plus. Did they use AI for Minnies voice?
Decent film, n wicked score to boot
It was a good movie, but they didn’t pay attention to the timeline from the source material. That was a big distraction for me.
Finally, the widespread, almost frantic clamoring for a Rosemary's Baby prequel has been satisfied. If the brainboys in Hollywood will finally give me the Marty prequel I've been waiting for, I can die happy.
Film wasn’t that bad I enjoyed it the first one was a classic tho
Decent movie... maybe I'll give Rosemary's baby a try again... I was too young to understand what twas going on lol
Daddddyyyuyh😂😂😂😂
The baby could be Damien too
Lmao Bill Cosby-ed
A history of characters would b cool, say to start Randall Flagg
I'm guessing joan c is not a character in the book.
I could have been better. Idk how I mean it looks like they tried hard but did not make it scary enough.
No
Did you get the references to Mary? 1. The bloody Mary drink that Minnie had in the morning
Did I miss any?😁😁😜
...they shouted Hail Satan....because theyre Satanists.
@S.-cm6qc actually it wasn't Hail Mary, it was Hail Terri ( which could be a form of Hail Mary). Thanks though
I thought it was a.decent prequel
So this wasn't a bad movie. I watched it a few hours ago but I wish it was scarier
This was released before the election, seems like pro choice politics especially since Julia did the assistant too, definitely made no sense as prequel since the character in the original wasn't the same, I liked the vintage throwback at the first half and all the theater, but then it dragged. They should make son of rosemary, great book 2 by it's levin
Loved the original but this one was blah. Not scary at all
Another film that needs no explaination.
Boring as shit, the Omen prequel was way better
OK you want a cookie?
Just finished this movie and let me tell you it’s complete TRASH! Boring too dark to even see the scary parts. Just awful don’t waste your time. IMO.
This movie was so boring.
What a piece of CRAP!
That's what... the 3rd (turd) movie this year about this kinda of story!?... the 1st one was that super boring OMEN prequel, the 2nd was that EXTRA boring Sydney Sweeney as a nun and now this crap!!!.... easy pass for me!
Honestly, I'd rather rewatch The First Omen than this again because that didn't piss me off as much as this did.
Top 3 horror movies
1 Evil Dead Rise
2 Evil Dead Rise
3 Evil Dead Rise

My favourite all time your favourite list
Just watched it last night. Tons of Easter eggs as in the Stanic leader is named ROMAN after the pedo director Roman Polanski
He was already named Roman in the novel.
@@phoenixalton7518 oh! No way. Thanks 🙏
@phoenixalton7518 Wasn't some place or someone named Cassavettes, too? In the new one,I mean. As in the actor John Cassavettes.
@@michaelmyers7425 I don’t remember that but that’s interesting.
Great job on subscriber count but you have a terrible channel name. You're welcome
