Hi there! I'm Keenan, designer of the Aegis circuit. The LOW / MED / HIGH settings refer to the impedance of the headphone. Output impedances are a little different for the 1/4" vs the XLR. With the XLR output, I would run Susvara on the LOW setting and Tungsten on the MED setting to get proper damping ratios for those headphones. Alternatively, if using the 1/4" use MED for Susvara and HIGH for Tungsten as the 1/4" output has a lower output impedance. You'll find you need to turn the volume up a bit more, but will get more control of the driver. Hope that helps!
Sometimes people say X product has a beauty that only an audiophile could love... well, I may be out of touch with reality, but I am pretty sure this is tech that ANYBODY would look at and be blown away by. These are so beautiful, that Aegis would be striking in any room - studio, private listening room or main living room, executive corner office with a view of a bay, art museum, or heck even a pawn shop!
Hey Michael. The red mesh that covers the driver is meant to act as a dampener for the treble in particular. Zach thoughtfully wanted to allow people who suffer from tinnitus to have an easier go with the treble, especially since closed backs naturally cocoon the sound. Actually and as it stands, you can get 2 tuning meshes for the headphone plus 4 sets of pads for the Caldera closed. ❤. Variety and choice seems pretty incredible with the headphone. Anyhow. What a video! Wow. Just wow my friend. 😅
That amplifier is so insanely beatiful. Just the design when you revealed the top made my eyes open. The amp fully lit up in the background had me thinking that piece of art is gonna need a good place for it to stand out if I were to get one. Can't wait for CanJam SoCal this year to give it and the closed back a good listening to!
Love the Aegis and Caldera Closed. Both are so tunable. The Aegis of course scales way up when you get deep in the NOS tubes. With the Caldera Closed the black mesh is nice if you want more air, but found it totally ok without the any mesh too on some pairings. If you have a warm chain check that out too! Make sure to try out the Bokeh protein pads when you do your review. I really like those on the CC.
Awesome episode Michael with some incredible stuff once again from ZMF 👏 I absolutely love the intro and all these beautiful musical touches on each section of the episode 😁😁
I didn't want to pair 2 products I've never heard before. I couldn't tell what each product had to offer. Certainly when I review each, I can play with pairings.
Interesting to check how the Aegis is gonna be with the Caldera Open and Raal Immanis (Caldera already got, awaiting Immanis) There's gonna be a written review on Headfonia regarding the Immanis pairing it seems as well.
Wow. The AI generated music has gotten way outta hand. I get that it’s fun but it’s also super gimmicky and pretty annoying. Love the content but hoping that it’s kept at bay. Great video otherwise.

Can you connect with me at directorsgarage@gmail.com ? I'd like to have a dialog when I get to the review of this amp!
That is a dream amp. It won't ever happen but if I could own just one amp it would probably be that one.

Can't beat the smell of a new ZMF headphone

Yep, I just received the Aegis tube amp this week. I can't wait to open the box and replace all the stock tubes....
This show is even more of a cartoon every week 😃 That Aegis looks amazing.

The Director's Garage Magical Mystery Tour Is waiting to take you away..... Waiting to take you away.......
Beautiful set 🔥🔥🔥
looks like a Cayin HA 2A on steroids
I went broke just watching the intro...
it’s a mystery, then u give it away in the same sentence ?
It should be in the title. He's doing it right.
@@thelastrhino2581 yes, that's more practical for when you google :) (i wasn't being completely serious),, it's the 'Mistery' part that is illogical.

mystery making history? kinda cringe isn't ?
Isn't this entire channel cringe?
