Gregory's character had a very hard edge. I don't believe you could have a detective in one of today's police dramas threatening to smash the teeth of a female suspect if she tried to bribe him with sex. Never knew about this series which is gritty and fast-paced. It certainly doesn't glamorize crime or the tough job of police work. Gregory crying after shooting a fellow detective, who was his pal, shows that there is a limit to how much one's humanity can be suppressed in order to function in a world of violence.
