    In this video:
    - WHAT are the major attractions that you can't go home without having seen, including Monastero Santa Maria in Valle, the Lombard Temple, the Celtic Hypogeum, the Church of St. John, the Cathedral, of Cividale, St. Francesco Church, Levrini Palace and Paolo Diacono Square.
    - Then, I’ll describe to you HOW to follow a daily-tour to better visit the city, with a clear map of Cividale and tips for nearby attractions.
Finally, we’ll discover WHY to visit Cividale, with his rich historic city center.
First of all, suggestions on FOOD and ACCOMMODATIONS:
Where to have a MEAL: Locanda Al Castello, Via del Castello, 12, Cividale del Friuli, info@alcastello.net
    - ACCOMMODATIONS: B&B La piccola Fattoria, Via Premariacco, 81/83 - Cividale del Friuli, lapiccolafattoria@alice.it
    WHAT
Founded by Giulio Cesare under the name of Forum Iulii - where the name Friuli comes from - in 568 BC, Cividale del Friuli became the residence of the patriarchs of Aquileia for several centuries.
Crossed by the Natisone River, Cividalecombines the essence and characteristics of the huddled and refined hamlet with the sparkling city spirit; TCI Orange Flag, culturally vibrant and forward thinking, while still linked to its traditions and history, welcomes you with its precious jewels, UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Monastery of S. Maria in Valle, the Longobard Shrine, the Christian and Archaeological Museums, the Podrecca Signorelli Centre and numerous events.
Take the scenic downtown streets to explore the Celtic Hypogeum, contemplate the Natisone from the Devil's Bridge, admire the Duomo, churches, refined palaces, or explore the enchanting landscapes that surround Cividale. It will in all circumstances be a pleasure to stop at local establishments and enjoy culinary delights accompanied by the fine wines of the Friuli Eastern Hills.
    HOW
I suggest you to start your trip from Belvedere parking, and enter in the city from Bridge of the Devil.
If you have, let’s say, one day to visit Cividale, I suggest you follow on foot the route indicated in the video, to see the most relevant attractions of the city. Remember: once you have seen the Roman Amphitheater, take the elevator of Saint Giusto parking to easily arrive in the hill of the Castle and the Cathedral. If you have more time, consider to visit the nearby attractions of Miramare and Duino Castles, and Grotta Gigante, the tourist cave containing the largest natural room in the world!
    WHY
Visit Cividale del Friuli if you are a lover of the Middle Ages: a part of its historical centre (the one belonging to the Lombards era) is a UNESCO heritage site!
