I bought a 5 ton Task Force Electric Splitter about 15 years ago from Lowes. It has been great and splits just about anything.

Great splitter. After watching all the 5 to 6.5 ton splitters, this Bilt Hard unit seems to be the one I'd buy. I would probably pass on the stand and just make my own and add a log table to catch the split pieces. The price is the same as alot of 5 ton units so it's a no brainer.

Oak is easy, especially red oak unless at a notch or twist. Try some elm for a good test.

Watching from South Africa/Mpumalanga Provice. Well done . I always prepare for winter months, 'cause here in my area is pretty cold in winter months.

In my 45 years of splitting firewood with a hydraulic splitter, I have found "straight grained" oak, ash and maple to be very easy to split with some crotches being a challenge. Now that I burn very little wood in my seasonal cabin, I split it all with wedges and a maul. The REAL test of any splitter is American Elm and I doubt an electric 6.5T splitter would be satisfactory. As always, the right tool is needed for the right job.

The big question is how long is your extension lead and thicknesses of cable?

Wasn’t cheap. All depends how far away from an outlet you want to be.

12:30 "Let me flip this around... let's try right here see what it'll do, alright could not go through it that time. I mean at the end of the day this isn't a 27 ton splitter..." 😆That looks like you're abusing a tweezers to shave a yak. Neat for if you don't fancy swinging an axe to split smaller limbs and kindling. If you need a full size electric log splitter for those full rounds the Swisher LS22E can do it and has a bonus feature of emptying your wallet 😁 at 10x the cost.

Not sure if you mentioned. Can it stand and cut vertical and horizontal?

I would say it can only split in the horizontal position.
