Did not see this musical fairy tale coming! Thanks for this entertaining presentation. Would be so cool to be in H'wood with Clubhouse folks and see TIF documentary...That said, I was so glad to be part of Baz's Clubhouse production of "Inside Out!" Our ode to you, Leland!
I had no idea you were on Ys! That's for sure a record for the ages, completely unique and absolutely brilliant. Given how long of a song Monkey and Bear is it was really easy to learn all the lyrics, which really tells a lot about how excellent a lyricist Joanna is. One of my favourite songs in the world ever.
Joanna Newsom is one of my favorite musicians and she's a wonderful actress! Was lucky enough to go to one of the '81 world series games at Dodger stadium that they won. I miss Don Heffington 🙁
Hi, Leland! Wishing Daryl all the best. I have seen many of his videos and have listened to hundreds of hours of his guitar playing. Outstanding player, yet seems quite humble.
Thanks for turning me/all of us on to such a wide variety of music and artists. It's only fitting that not all members of your immediate family will be at the opening of your own movie. You are all so much in demand now as you all have been over the ages! We are so blessed that you are available to be seen live in concert with the cream of the crops! Thanks for reminding me/us of Steve Lukather's new release and including those three songs as well. I had forgotten the release date. It's a great album and all the musicians including yourself did such exceptional work. Anyway as always take good care and enjoy the festival Lee!😸
Lee, I am so thrilled for you that your documentary is doing so exceptionally well. Once again, be sure to get as much rest as you can while on your new tour with Lyle.
Her voice on the first song reminds be of Mae Questel who did the original voice of Bette Boop and Olive Oil. Seems Like Van Dyke Parks was the perfect pick as producer.
I would suggest Only Skin as a reaction video because it's one of my personal favorites and it's just an absolute great song in terms of unpredictability
Wow! Harp is such a deep yet delicate instrument and it’s easy to bury the intricacies in the mix so today’s track is very impressive in that regard not to mention the lyrics. Joanne Newsom definitely deserves further investigation!
❤😊 Milwaukee! 🗺 I will have to check it out more with headphones, and while I'm not washing dishes. It seems like it should go with movie animation, like one of the Oz stories. :)
Leland, I know you are aware of and are grateful for your many fans. Many of us have been listening to your work for close to 50 years. The breadth and variety of your work continue to amaze us all. This fan cannot wait to see you (for the first time) on July 19th in Calgary. Be well.
This was an unexpected one. A legend listening to a will-be-legend. :-) Newsom is fabulous (in all the nuances of the word), but what has she been up to lately? It was ages ago she released an album. I hope she's still going.
She is working on new music at the moment, but became a parent a few years ago, and had the great fortune of being able to be there for her daughter 24/7 in her formative years. Hopefully, we will have a new album by 2026.
👋👋 Hope you have a great visit!! I believe the daughter of the mechanic who kept my 1978 VW going also went to Mills College. Just read a couple days ago that Gavin Newsom's business career had been financed by an heir to the Getty fortune. I had no idea.
@@Mark_Brooks Not a fan of the computer age so much, but Wikipedia can be remarkably instructive. It's all in there. The San Francisco chronicle seemed to be the main source for the entry. I knew a lot about Trump from having lived in the tri-state area. Haven't lived in San Francisco.
I listened all the way through just so I could say I did. Itt ad a certain mesmerizing repetitive melodic appeal, but one I found depressing, the way I tend to feel when I remember the pretentiousness of much late 60s/early 70s, which were probably her parents' formative years.
Yes, it's all GOOD. Thanks for the wide range of music you have on your channel. I'll have to look Joanna up. Definitely worth a listen. Looking forward to Summerfest. Will you be playing outside? What time of day? Do you like playing in the daytime where you can see the audience? Hope you have fine weathe and nice temperatures.
Thank you for your visit and an update on what you will be doing today and the inclusion of Joanna Newsom and her background. I read the Wiki on her and sad to read that she attended Mills College which is but a fond and now absent memory today. The fission of art and music has lost a home in what Mills College had once provided. I included below a current national wether outlook and my sympathy for a portion of Texas under extreme heat. ruclips.net/video/J2ymC3KOwEI/видео.html
Did you attend Mills? Delaine Eastin, who was California Superintendent of Public Instruction when I was holding office, taught at Mills when she was term limited out of office.
Love your posts, Leland. Look forward to seeing you at the Belly Up on July 4th. Regarding Joanna Newsome: I think the album is probably pronounced “Whys” as in why did this sell 250,000 albums. However, since you’re on it I gave it a listen. You’re a versatile guy. I love the variety. Posted 6/24/23, 12:23 pdt.
My daughter choose to examine Joanna Newsom for a music application class, but she couldn't get a word in edgewater because her instructor had so much to say.
She’s great. Thanks for sharing. You have a show tonight? You mean you really aren’t coming to my party? Two years in a row, man Lyle is strict. Have fun.🖕
Incredible artist. My daughter introduced me to Joanna and Andy once. My daughter is a friend and she is just delightful.
Cool.... 'the book of right on' was my introduction to Joanna Newsom

This makes me think that this is what it would've sounded like had Bjork had collaborated with Frank Zappa. Very interesting.
Give Darryl our best!

Milk-Eyed Mender is one of my all time favorite albums. Sadie is a standout. It helped me along when I needed a breakthrough in my life.
Where has this been all my life? This is incredible
Checking in trying to keep up with you ☮💜👩💜 So enjoy your sharing Joanna Newsom.

Frank Zappa had interesting facial hair.
If you were someone who arranges your musical collection by album title (🙃), you would file this album right after the Steve Tibbetts album "Yr" 🤓
