    i have been a mechanic most of my life and really enjoy watching will it start. because most vehicles were running when parked why everyone when doesn't go just right start moving dist. don't understand just put the wires back where they were and they should run but most don't do it. and most of them also don't have a good battery it will be the oldest battery they have. when i start for people i charge up several batteries and have my jump box ready and my big charger handy

    So many, at least on video posts, don't remove plugs & get slip juice in the cylinders first or at least pour some down carb

    Hey just subscribed next time your trying to find. Top dead center just pull the number 1 plug out put your thumb or finger over spark plug hole and tap the starter until your finger or thumb gets blown off from compression stroke that is a fail safe sure fire way to know your at top dead center and gareunteed your not 180 out watching the timing marks you can put it at tdc two times. One will be acctualy tdc and the other is 180 out becusse every two turns of the crank is one turn on the cam

      Still haven't got that distributor out. Sorry your moving on after only 3 negative comments and probably a thumbs down. 😂 this is the second video with different editing software so I'll work on volume control. I has just gotten it figured out with the old stuff. I suppose I need to edit with headphones. As for turning the distributor "right away" I didn't. I was 180° off and didn't want to believe that so was trying to move it one plug over to see if it would stop spitting through the carb. Thanks for watching and sorry you moved on.

    Was the vaccum line to the brake booster plugged off?

    • @attemptedauto
      @attemptedauto  9 месяцев назад

      No. Wide open. I knew i had done that, but didnt really think about it when the time came to try starting. I wasn't so much interested in making it run good, I just wanted to check the basic health of the motor. I'll tear into it one day to freshen it up for something different. Good catch though and thanks for watching!

      You have a prestolite ignition. That point on the plastic part of the distributor the vacuum advance should pointed more towards the power steering pully
