He definitely doesn't have gene's style im sorry my dude but thats by no means a slam, its just Gene was so cool with his over exaggerated arm extensions and his flailing...he looked like a goddamn spider up there either way though great cover very upbeat version i like it
world class level for me. Most drummers (as the drum covers exiting on youtube suggest) play to show off their skills first and foremost, but you complement the song and are not a showoff. Clearly you play extremely well, spot on!
I have watched this video approximately 50 times the last 4 days. It's so respectful to the original but also feels so fresh and energetic...I am amazed!
This is the drum cover I didn't know I needed. Absolutely amazing job. You played the song the way it was intended and didn't try to showboat it up. Well done sir.
Good Job... I started learning to play by playing big band then went to small group, then country then funk then rock and now I do whatever session is needed. I actually just did a weckl Jay Oliver swing drum cover and I do miss being able to play Jazz often.
Good job. Double stroke Tom fills are awesome. I use 4 rack toms on this number. It adds a lot of melody. You’ve good good feel that blends in well with technique. Keep playing as long as you can. I’ve been playing since ago 9 (56yrs ago). The left foot on the hi hat didn’t vary - thats key.
Thanks. I've been playing since about 8-9 yrs old also which was 52 yrs ago for me. Hi-hat is absolutely key on 2 & 4 in swing. It's a pet peeve of mine to keep that hi-hat going in everything I play - samba, rock, solo, whatever...I hate when drummers ignore the hi-hat.

Bravo I would applaud if not for my arthritis riddled paws.
My all time favorite song. I always imagined hearing Goodman play this for the first time back then would have been akin to being at the Ed Sullivan theater in 64
You actually pulled this off better than Krupa did man. Seriously. Heard this song enough to know the difference. You really put that old school sound in it. I actually like your version better.
Maestro you are unattainable.... every time I listen this performance i'm always gazed, I suppose (gene krupa apart ) your version of sing sing sing is within the top 5 version available on the tube. Bravo

You could play with any band regardless of what Genre. Do you? if not, why? JUst ran accross this, what else am I missing. I hope you are making a living at this.
Thanks. Yes, I've played in various bands over the years. My first couple of bands back when I was a teen-ager were wedding bands. At 17 yrs old, I played everything from swing to disco to latin, merengue, cha-chas, tangos, rhumbas, you name it, I played it. So yes I used to play many genres of music and still do. But now it's quieted down as most musicians are not working as much. In the last few yrs, I've been subbing in some local cover bands in the Long island area. Hopefully things will improve this year.
