    Good job. Double stroke Tom fills are awesome. I use 4 rack toms on this number. It adds a lot of melody.
    You’ve good good feel that blends in well with technique.
    Keep playing as long as you can. I’ve been playing since ago 9 (56yrs ago).
    The left foot on the hi hat didn’t vary - thats key.

    • @JoeNocella
      @JoeNocella  4 года назад +1

      Thanks. I've been playing since about 8-9 yrs old also which was 52 yrs ago for me. Hi-hat is absolutely key on 2 & 4 in swing. It's a pet peeve of mine to keep that hi-hat going in everything I play - samba, rock, solo, whatever...I hate when drummers ignore the hi-hat.

    • @philbrown1474
      @philbrown1474 4 года назад +1

      @@JoeNocella I hear you. Same with me on the hi hat. Nothing really makes me say “meh” like when I see some of the metal drummers. I use a double bass - have since I started playing. But not at the expense of the hi hat.
      Ginger Baker is the prime example of how important the hi hat is.
      On the other hand, Keith Moon never or rarely used his hi hat. I thought he was a pretty sloppy player. Many disagree with me.
      Keep playing as long as we can!

      Thanks. Yes, I've played in various bands over the years. My first couple of bands back when I was a teen-ager were wedding bands. At 17 yrs old, I played everything from swing to disco to latin, merengue, cha-chas, tangos, rhumbas, you name it, I played it. So yes I used to play many genres of music and still do. But now it's quieted down as most musicians are not working as much. In the last few yrs, I've been subbing in some local cover bands in the Long island area. Hopefully things will improve this year. Thanks for watching.

I did notice at the start, not sure if its the internet conection but I heard a beat before you started..only one tap..maybe that's your off start and that's cool too..like it.yeah I can fool around with lots of trips on this and can watch your high hat to keep in sync..just maybe we could see your foot pedal but that's the only thing I could find that your could improve on. your feel for this tune is very good ..btw sorry about my spacing as I write my keyboard space bar is kaputt.lol.keep up the good work and keep feeling it..cheers m8, thanks again Buddy.

    Excellent drum cover Joe. I can tell you have played in 1 or more big bands. Swing and jazz must be your first love of drumming. Your timing, rudiments and placement of accents are perfect. I agree with others that most drum covers on RUclips are drummers showing off and over the top. The songs get lost in the smoke and mirrors. If these drummers are trying to show case their skills for a spot in a band they might want to consider also playing a couple of songs as if they were the studio drummer too. No band will hire a drummer that needs the spot light all the time. This is a reality check. P/S Why would anybody check thumbs down??? I didn't see any bad comments below? I guess somebodies jealous, frustrated or just a miserable person?

      Thanks. Yes I've always loved swing drumming. I grew up listening to Count Basie, Buddy Rich, Sinatra, etc..Bobby Darin's swing stuff is great too. I recently did a few of his tunes. Check them out..As for the thumbs down. It doesn't bother me at all. I've seen phenomenal videos of the greatest drummers with many dislikes. People are weird. They may not like the song for whatever reason. Some people are jealous of other people's talents. Who cares..

      Ab-Fab Joe. Even sounds better than Gene. I'm teaching my 12 year old son to play. He's also taking lessons mind you, and want him to be versatile drummer. There's a lot more than just rock, out there. This will surely convince him. You did this song, and Gene Krupa justice.
      You definitely us Italians proud. Lol. Salute !!!

      @@pitostreams7202 I just saw this comment. Good luck with your son. I've taught younger students and he'll do fine if he really wants to learn. If he loves music, he'll want to play. Make sure he works his hands on the practice pad. It's not only about playing rock grooves on the drum set. Good hands are essential in order to play at a higher level. Also , I always tell students that a good drummer should be able to many all styles of music. Thanks for watching..
