This has been a very helpful video! There was a small hiccup with the sound just prior to the speed test but it did not ruin the experience... The presentation was flawless! Many thanks as you've convinced me to get this device! Super! Looking forward to more of your content 👍🏿
This is the best and clearest explanation I've seen to enable this device as part of a mesh set up. The instructions provided by tp link are woeful and that's a pity as the device itself is excellent.
A very helpful review, thank you. Can you please tell me, if I wish to use the repeater just as an access point, do I need to keep the cable from my router connected after setup? Or can it be wirelessly connected to the router and still work as an access point? Thank you
I am not tech minded at all, but I was sick of poor wifi in my bedroom, so after watching a review of this extender elsewhere I bought one. It was fairly easy to set up, even for me and although did get a teeny bit muddled, within in 30 minutes it was set up and connected and it works brilliantly. It is in my hall so I don’t get annoyed by the bright light from it.
Thank you for you amazing explanation. I got a question please . I'll be starting working from home very soon and my company requires me to use cable internet only , no Wi-Fi. As I'm renting and live in the basement (main router is upstairs , very far from my location) I was initially thinking to install new internet line in the basement but it'll cost me more than $600 a year. I was therefore wondering if I could use this extender and link it to my iMac , using an ethernet cable?
Hi. Sure you can connect with this extender using an Ethernet cable. First setup the extender by following the instructions in the video, then connect with extender using Ethernet cable and you are good to go. If your router has a WPS button then press it and press the middle circular button on this extender for an automatic setup.
Excellent video! Question ... How does one change the name of the extender to something like wireless? Can you did that somewhere in the tools category? Thank you!
Thank you very much for appreciating. There is no feature in device settings which allows you to change the name of device. However you can change the name of extended network to your liking.
Question, does onemesh work with routers other than tp link? And when you activate onemesh do you see multiple networks on your devices or does the repeater adopt the router name and password?
This extender is compatible only with TPLink router's mesh technology. With other brand routers it can only extend the network but automatic switching won't happen. Only single network name is visible after enabling the onemesh feature. Repeater automatically adopts the network name and password after proper configuration.
Your internet speed is too slow, I think you'll get the same 20's without that extender on the first floor, you should've tested it with i net speed of at least 100Mbps and put the extender at least 15 meters/50 feet away, will you still get almost 100Mbps beside the extender?
Without extender I wasn’t getting a strong signal and speed was too slow. I am able to get strong signal everywhere in my house after installing this extender.
Hi. Yes mesh enabled extender is low in supply in India. Just keep checking for fresh stock and also check your local hardware dealer. I’ll inform you if I find it.
I bought this on Amazon and it worked well for a week then I went to turn it on and it didn't work anymore, I returned it and got my money back. Has anyone else had this problem?
Never heard of any such problem. I guess it is a manufacturing defect with the particular unit. I am using it for past 3 years. It is switched on 24x7 and working perfectly.
This is a range extender which means that it will only extend the coverage of your existing wifi. This Wi-Fi can be from a router, hotspot or any other source. Without a router you cannot have a wifi connection. So if you have wifi network then you already have a router also.
It can do both. It can extend an existing wifi network and it can also create a hot spot if you connect a wired internet connection through an Ethernet cable to it.
Hi. This extender extends a 2.4ghz as 2.4 and 5ghz as 5ghz only. It cannot change a 5ghz network to 4ghz network. It is the router that you need to change for your smart devices to work.
When used as an extender, you can change the name and password of the network created by this extender. When you are using it to create a hotspot by plugging in an Ethernet, then also the SSID and password can be changed.
You need to go to the security settings of your router and set the wifi password. Search the RUclips and you will find several tutorial videos to help you.
Technically speaking a repeater is the one that recreates the signal and then transmit it. extender amplifies the signal received and then transmit it. From an end user point of view there is no difference. We use it to get better wifi signals away from the router.
AC 1750 is the series number while RE450 is the number for this particular device….there are other AC1750 devices too, like there is a AC1750 router also.
@@travelazzi i appreciate you clarifying this.. im totally stuck on setting this up.. my router doesnt have a WPS button.. Ive downloaded the app for TP LINK on my phone and i cant seem to finish the setup ...

Hi. The repeater can work as an access point only with the lan cable connected to it.
My main router c6 v4 & i want to buy re200 ac750 mesh supported
If main router & extender connect with ethernet cable then one mesh will supported?

Yes, it is a really good device. Working perfectly in my staircase area and there are no weak wifi spots
If you want then you can go to the tools options on tether app schedule a time to automatically switch off the LEDs
Awesome video can this extender be used with jio fiber as jio router is very weak in distribution of wifi thanks in advance
This extender can be used for extending any type of WiFi network but mesh feature can be used only with TPLink routers.

Hi…new firmware update date has provided the option to change the name of all TP Link devices in your network.
not hardware version, but firmware version 4.0 and it is tp-link not Linksys

That's not how it works lol
Your router and range extender is cable of much higher speeds 200+ mbps , you should opt for a higher speed plan to make the most out of it
Oh Ok thanks amritpal Singh palahyia!!!
I just ordered the same router and live in a 2 bedroom apartment.. do you recommend getting a mesh extender ? Or am I going to be good with coverage ?

hi there i have the exact same extender RE450 but why i don't find OneMesh setting on mine
Hi. Onemesh is available only if the extender and router both have Onemesh feature. Maybe your router is not having Onemesh technology.

Can the app be control if you are not close to the wifi
Yes you can control over cellular connection also from anywhere in the world.

Actually you can use the schedule on off feature in the settings and specify the timings when it should switch on and switch off.

I have smart devices that only work on 2.4ghz but my main WiFi is 5ghz will this help me to connect to 2.4ghz so I can set up my smart devices?
Hi. This extender extends a 2.4ghz as 2.4 and 5ghz as 5ghz only. It cannot change a 5ghz network to 4ghz network. It is the router that you need to change for your smart devices to work.
It can handle 5GHz source to 2.4 GHz transmit.
No it can’t change 5ghz network to 2.4ghz. It only extends the existing type of network
Can I use this repeater to set up a separate network?
When used as an extender, you can change the name and password of the network created by this extender. When you are using it to create a hotspot by plugging in an Ethernet, then also the SSID and password can be changed.
Excellent, informative video. Many thanks.
Thank you. Glad to hear the video could help you.
