  • Hi guys! Today I wanted to share with you a more serious video. How I stopped resenting my ex (child's father) and healed from the toxic relationship. I wanted to share some advice I have as a single mom as maybe you are curious, going through something similar or wanting to know how to heal and have a decent coparenting relationship for your child's sake. I've always known my story can help others but I also want to remain some level of privacy. I thought this would be a wonderful way to help other single moms & know it's completely possible to be happy again. To have an ok coparenting relationship (whatever "coparenting" looks like to you). It starts within. You can't change someone else, but you can change yourself, grow, heal & be confident enough to no longer resent someone who hurt you.

You’re such a strong woman 😭❤️ Sydney is a lucky girl. I grew up with parents who were very very toxic to each other. I wonder what MY life would’ve turned out like If my mom had left the situation when I was young... 25 years later I’m in the same toxic kind of relationship.. you give me hope, thank you for this video 🙏

Love that you’re seeing it through to post new content! Great advice. I paused my telemedicine therapy sessions to focus on maternity leave and physical healing, and this was very similar in the approach as to counseling advice. I was left when I was 10 weeks pregnant and my baby is now 5 months old. I bought a 3500sq ft home for me and my baby 3 months ago.. and I’m happily building my baby’s future as a solo parent.

Thanks for making this video. It’s actually helped me in a totally unrelated way. I just gave birth to my second baby two weeks ago, and your advice reminded me to take a little time to do something for myself each day. Even just spending literally 1-2 minutes every morning throwing on some CC cream, blush, quick swipe of mascara and lip balm - makes me feel good about myself. So thank you! 😘😘

I have been working on healing the same way. Currently going through a divorce and we have an almost 3 year old (she loves seeing Sydney on TV!). He left due to an affair a year ago and lives with the other woman. What you said about reacting is hard, but so true. The other woman likes to post negative things through social media, friends will share with me what was stated and I just avoid it. The phrase I keep telling myself is, "Other people's opinions of me are none of my business."

    • @TresChicMama

Coming from a place I thought my life was over and now being with someone who treats me and my daughter right, it’s difficult living with that anger, frustration, and resentment. Thank you, for sharing this part of your journey and showing me that It’s okay to pay attention to my own actions to make things better rather than letting him dictate my feelings. Im so happy I’ve found your channel... you’ve helped me and my confidence so much❤️

I’m married and don’t have any plans of leaving the father of my children (hopefully he feels the same 🤞🏻😂). But I am curious as to how people overcome something like this. My sister in law and her husband divorced a few months after having their daughter, and many secrets came out about my SIL. My SIL’s ex husband is my husband’s best friend, so all of the stuff we found out caused a lot of resentment with my husband and his best friend. Even I’ve found myself feeling resentment towards her. So I feel like this video could help me, and even give my ex-brother in law tips on how to heal. So thank you for posting this.

My ex who is a narcissist left when my daughter was a month old. And it was so hard for me to let go but later on (with time :) ) I realized it was for the best. People who are toxic like that rarely ever change. He still hasn't seen her since then (she's 5 months now) but I hope one day we can get to where you are because its my daughter who i think of. I would like for her to have a relationship with him. BUT yes everything you said is completely accuarate. I was with him throughout my entire pregnancy and the way he treated me is something hard to over come but I'm getting there and I know one day I'll be healed and happy... (:

I'm so happy you are able to move on from a bad relationship and still able to co-parent with him.. great advice you gave.... I was in a very bad relationship but it was a little bit worst and we have two kids together and my kids dad is not a "real dad" he doesn't help me in any way with the kids and he doesn't ask to see the kids or anything and my kids are teenagers and I do ask if they want to see their dad but they don't want to. Not going to lie I still hate my ex but I don't talk about him or anything he refuses to talk to me I've tried many times to co-parent with him but he doesn't want to. In my eyes you shouldn't force or keep trying to have that person to be a parent. If someone doesn't want to be part of their kids life then it's on them. Great video... you are one of the women's I look up to..

He does say he will take the kids away from me. All the time. Yes I forgive and pray that all these people will be happy. Thank you. I'm ready to leave him and start my journey trusting God and the universe. He calls me worthless too. Yes. All this negative crap. It's him that's miserable with his own life.

Having been there and evolved past a toxic relationship, I agree with these! Most of these are things i had to start doing as well. Especially not trying to defend yourself or argue back. They can’t continue to argue with silence. For the sake of positive co-parenting, another thing I learned to do is swallow my pride a lot and keep my opinions to myself about how he parents vs how I do. We used to spend time together before we had significant others, and when we did start dating again, that gradually evolved but we still do birthdays for the kids together and work together really well.

Great video 👍 Really great advice thank you. Allowing another person to take responsibility for themselves so key.
Not taking responsibility for them being no longer a rescuer. As individuals taking personal responsibility for you and your decisions and choices so key self-care.
what we say and what we do have to be one and the same boundary's are so important.
Can relate to all your saying being around a toxic person is hard I've been though it.
I've looked at also the negative self-talk working on that and not needing validation from outside of me.
Confidences gets lost but so important to work on it self-love self awareness loving or at least liking who you are again after losing yourself and not liking who are around that toxic person.
It's hard to put all these things in place but equally so very essential and a game changer.
Co-parenting makes all these things harder but not impossible and can all only do best you can.
Time is a great healer. Also I'd say allow self to feel all the feelings name them face them. To be able to really help and then genuinely move forward. People either are growing with you are blessings or show you life lessons what don't need in your life.
A healthy relationship with yourself first is so important so not being a people pleaser and no longer putting everyone first is hard especially if done it your whole life. That you have to be happy first because if come from place of lack or try to fill void though someone else. Once longer continue to draw toxic person or settle for less then we all deserve. what we say to ourselves what willing to put up with and how we respond is so important as part of growth and a happier peaceful life .

I am only half way through this video and it has already helped me so much. I feel everything that you’re saying. I have reached out to you a few times about how I’m going through a divorce right now and I have full custody of my son for now luckily he is only 2. I hope and pray that when we go back for our order of protection hearing next February I will gain full custody. The threats and the Manipulation is too much. I feel so lucky to have Jaxson and to be able to have full custody for now but I’m still trying to put myself back together after being broken for 7 years.

I am so happy for u. Because I know it is not easy. But with God in ur life n having faith n believing in urself does make a big difference. N I 100% agree with u. Most of the time the problem is with the other person not u. But they just want u 2 believe that it's u n that u r not capable of doing things by urself. When actually we r capable of doing anything n everything we set our mind to n if we believe we can then we will. Us as women should know our worth n value. We have to learn how to love ourselves in order to be happy again. Thank u for sharing with us I know it will help many of us who may be going through something similar. Love u xoxo

I agree with everything you said...being with someone toxic can really destroy u if u don't free yourself at some point. BUT what do u do if that same toxic person keeps disappointing your child with the same toxic behavior, even after a divorce? I feel really helpless cuz my kid is crazy about his Dad and he doesn't really care...and i feel like i have to protect my kid from getting his feelings hurt over and over again...

See this is my thought process as well. What will I do if this happens in time? 🙏😞 Honestly, I have always said I would try my hardest to do what’s right for her & you know in your gut what is right. Even if it’s hard. I have also always said I would get my daughter counseling if I ever thought she ever needed it. I’m praying for you mama ❤️🙏

Yes you can. It wont be how you may want to live right now with less finances but you can make the choice today to live a different life for yourself. There are resources and agencies that help, churches. And God provides by the way. When you put Him first you cannot fail and He won't fail you.

You absolutely can! I left a relationship after 16 years with $33,000 of debt that we had both accumulated. We also have a child together. Since we were not married and all the debt was in my name, I left with that burden on my shoulder. 3 years later I have dealt with the debt, have a way better job, and am doing super well! It seems daunting and impossible and that’s the reason why I stayed for so long. Albeit I was not being abused. If you are being abused, please please leave. Ask for help from family and friends. You will be shocked how many ppl will step in and help you. I will keep you in my thoughts. Please reach out if you need someone to talk to. ♥️

I divorced my son's dad when he was 17months old and he is now 28. I didn't hate him I just didn't love him. I went into a horrible relationship after and had to move to another state and then back to back another horrible one. I mean I was so ashamed for leaving a good man that I couldn't believe the evil I was in back to back. I am 52 and lost myself and haven't dated in a couple years. The one thing I can say that my son tells me is he didn't know any difference because his dad and I were never negative. Not in front of him anyhow. I felt guilty for divorcing his dad but don't regret it. Stand up for yourself and not allow the disrespect but make sure your daughter never hears it. That is hard I know. A toxic person is not worthy of your beauty and soul. Not feeding the fire is great, but he has to know you are strong. When I ignored my toxic men it drove them batty and I loved it!

    • @TresChicMama
      @TresChicMama  4 года назад

ALL OF THIS!! Our kids don’t need to be hearing fights & toxicity. There is a fine line between allowing someone to treat you bad & standing up for yourself/not allowing it. Proud of you for making your son you priority ❤️🙌

Thanks that really does make since bc my oldest son’s father and I split up awhile ago and I still have a lot of problems w him but the difference is I have a awesome man now who supports us and is a amazing to not only our son together but he is w my oldest son as well and my ex has moved on as well but it’s like he forgot he even had a son and doesn’t call or c him but make once or twice a year and I know deep down it hurts my oldest son who is 15 years and he was best friends w his dad and I know he feels like his dad just up and left him and that is what I hold resentment for towards my ex for what he has been doing to our precious son
