EL TORO - Six Flags Great Adventure - Nov. 5th

- Another one of those "you finally got to it!" reviews - one of the most famous and highly regarded wooden roller coasters in the world.... it's El Toro time baby! This massive Intamin pre-fabricated woodie opened in 2006, and is still considered by some to be the world's best. Unfortunately, the last two years have not been kind to El Toro, with a derailment (no serious injuries thankfully), and then complaints of some seriously rough "pot holes", many thought El Toro's days could be numbered. All attempts were made though to make sure the ride could re-open safely and sure enough, I had the opportunity to get back on this fall for my first rides in over 2 years. Was it the same incredible coaster I remembered? Or did some of those rough moments still rear their ugly head? Maybe a bit of both? An iconic roller coaster for sure, hopefully I gave it an iconic review!

And one final thanks to all of you for watching!
Good ride, my #3 woodie
RIP Rolling Thunder; long live the Rolling Thunder hill. Nice footage of it!
Agreed. The worst pothole is the trough after the 1st turnaround. It's still one of the best woodies out there (although no longer, due to roughness.) It has an elite 1st drop and 1st two camelbacks.
Remember, remember the 5th of November.
Loved this coaster when I rode it in 2019.
Back to the Future will always have the top Nov. 5th reference for me 😅
Daaang…It’s still a bucket list coaster for me. Not sure if I’ve ever ridden a wood coaster that tall before.
I’ve ridden Goliath as Six Flax Great America which has the longest drop on a wooden coaster but it’s clear that this thing is a MONSTER and would love to experience it some day! Roughness or no roughness, still want to conquer this thing. 😃
As you absolutely should!! For sure one of the most impressive looking coasters in the US
Goliath is butter smooth except the pull out after the 1st drop, but it's too short and feels almost Steel. El Toro is too rough now. The Cyclone at Coney Island in NYC is smooth with a couch and single position lap bars and Ghostrider is excellent; (Coaster at Playland in Vancouver was good until October 31st 2020 before it was refurbished and opened with tightening seatbelts) and I'd imagine The Voyage is the best woodie out there.
Oh what have we got here! People were even saying it was rough last year when I rode it, but I thought it was smooth! That drop and those hills are amazing. The second half starts to lose some wow factor, but it starts off so good that you can forgive it. Score still respectable! Almost spoiled some top 25 scores though. I need to go back in time. I see The Legend!
I do think some seats the potholes aren’t as bad, but yeah, pretty spot on analysis! Happy to see you in the comment section again ☺️
this is so incredibly high on my bucket list - hopefully will get on it next year or the year after!
Do ittttttt!
I appreciate the Back to the Future reference Doc Brown.
THANK YOU, somebody finally appreciated that 😂
Anytime buddy. Keep up the great work.@@coaster365
Best video to wake up to
❤️❤️❤️
Got to ride it for the first time last month and wow.... I love it. I would LOVE to know what it felt like before without the potholes.
Legendary, that’s what 😊
One of those rides you have to learn how to ride, just like Skyrush. Hit the second to last row on a non-wheel seat, and fill the car with weight above the wheels in the other rows. It'll run butter smooth!
Yeahhhhh no, I’m a big believer in the “you shouldn’t need a user’s manual to make a ride good” philosophy lol. And El Toro IS still great obviously, those moments just need cleaning up
@@coaster365 Fair enough! I still think the ride is amazing in any seat as well, but have friends who cannot tolerate more than one ride over a wheel seat.
I hate when a rough spot kind of ruins the ride. Hopefully they can fix it with some retracking soon.
Wouldn’t say it completely ruins the ride (obviously with my still high score), it just prevents that truly INCREDIBLE ride that it should deliver
Alot of people have Nitro over El Toro. I've been back several times since it reopened and it's never had a line. I think people are avoiding it. I got it at 9.1 but I think I'm being generous. Watch those bees too, I got stung on the ear there a couple weeks ago.
Oh jeeze! 😬, yeah I’ve only waited outside the station once in my life for El Toro
Will be here finally next year… worried about chances of getting on either El Toro and Kingda Ka.
They’re usually pretty reliable assuming no incidents happen lol
Long live the bull!
Respect the rank. (Boulder Dash and Superman are both better.) I think Colossos is the superior prefab. Haven't been on the 4th one.
today was the day.. that leviathan was knocked out.. sad day for all of us
RIP 🙏
Nitro over El Toro???? Please mail in your enthusiasts card. 😂
As El Toro is running “in its current state”… yeah! It is. El Toro as it should run is 100% better than Nitro, but it’s just not with those moments. And I’m definitely not the only person with that thought haha
@@coaster365 rode it back in July and tbh if you avoided a wheel seat didn’t think toro was that rough. Did the back row once and only once and that ride aligns with what you said in the video.
damn almost don't need to watch this to know you think it's the best woodie on the planet! go birds!
Lol, you’ll enjoy Thanksgiving then
Titan track all day
If that helps, absolutely
El Toro looks awesome but I’ve heard it runs so rough now even after the retrack
Just rough “moments”, I wouldn’t call it a rough coaster as a whole
Is the pot hole still there or did they fix that?
Oooooo it’s definitely still there lol
@coaster365 I thought that was one of the main problems . Lol
Unfortunately the rough moments have made it not as enjoyable for me. Still a fun ride, but for me, Kingda Ka is the better coaster.
Idk I’ll go that far, but it’s for sure closer
