    My grandpa was a truck driver during the Korean war. I think he said his duty was driving ammunition to the front lines. We lost him a couple years backz but its pretty interesting to see the kinds of vehicles he probably drove during the conflict. Great video!

    My father drove one of those there, back in the day.
    Seen many pictures of the time he was there.
    I drove trucks for 45 years, I'm 70 years old now. 🤓

      Nice, I have a 52'. These videos show and M37B1 in Nam, then they ignore the M37s in the Nam video, there were tons of them in Nam. They have no idea what they are talking about.

    Misidentification of truck series & model -> @2:21 the "NEW" GMC truck is actually a M135 (single tires, rear axle as opposed to the M211, same truck BUT with dual rear tires), @ 2:28 the soldier is leaning on a M35 truck. Again @ 2:45 trucks are M135 series

  • @michaelours9784
    @michaelours9784 4 года назад +2

    2:45 is actually a gmc m135 that came with a 6 cylinder engine and an automatic transmission the was another barometer called the m211 which came with dual wheels

    Ah ! My fathers second War, he used a lot of US equipment, he loved the Deuce and a half’s , REO’s, Diamond T’s , Willys, and Cat D8’s , M26 Dragon wagons were bought ex military and converted to civilian use for heavy haulage in the UK with the Armour plate stripped and custom cabs fitted. Thanks for sharing

    Soldier holding 'grease gun' leaning on M35, have owned two of those, that model came out in 53, dont think it made it to Korean War....and what the other guy said about the single axle truck pictured when narrator is talking about a dbl rear axle model.

    Since the M-26 was so large, it made itself an easy target for the enemy to shoot at, henceforth the angular designs of the cab. (Its hard to pierce at an angle, & bullets ricochet off). Great new video series!

    Great trucks. Tough trucks with a little proper preventable maintenance are very dependable. Big Winch just about unstoppable. Only trouble when I was teenager the ride even in the main back of tk. Was no problem at all. Now I am 59. That truck about beat me to death in best air ride driver seat money can buy. Guess it's old man sneaking up on me. For The Ride they was never top seller on them trucks. Young kids ride. Lol

    There was such a truck shortage in the beginning that Pacific battle sites were soured for trucks and truck parts. Once collected these trucks were sent to Japan disassembled refurbished and put back together then sent to Korea for service. My Uncle Ernest was in Manila when WW2 ended. There was a very large motor pool there in preparation for the invasion of Japan. This entire motor pool of vehicles from jeeps still in crates to bulldozers were dumped into the middle of Manila Bay.

    Just interested. In the trucks you do a great job thank you I like when subjects come up about the Korean War or the forgotten war when I was in Jr and. Sr High history. We barely covered it the troops seem to be silent a lot of those Veterans did time in Ww1 Ww2 Korea Vietnam

    The M37 gun truck you have in the video is an M37B1 in Vietnam. There were not many M37s in Korea but some did make it there, I have a 1952. Most of the trucks used were WWII WCs since we had tons of them in Asia. I have found very few pictures of M37s in Korea, I have a collection of digital and real pictures I find. Oh and the company that made Jeeps is pronounced like, "Willis", people see Willys and think it's like, "Willies" it is not! These brand new Jeeps driving around with that on the side of the hoods are ridiculous.

      Do not underestimate the famous and fitting names the British Army gave to US made equipment. Often they are better known worldwide by their British names then US designation
      the M4 Sherman and C47 Dakota are the most known.
      Turretless tanks /open topped tracked vehicels as a stop gap personel carriers where known as kangaroos.
      The most famous US truck designation must be the DUKW just known as the Duck all over the globe.
