That town and the surrouinding community is destroyed by chemical contamination. It is uninhabitable. The soil is contaminated. The crops are contaminated. The water is contaminated, and the aquifers are not immune from contamination. The contents of the whole town needs to removed and treated as toxic contaminated material. Who knows how many years the soil on the farms will be unsafe for farming? How far down stream will the toxins be carried? A lot of people are going to become ill, and many will die. The railroad will fight every expense for decades, or simply declare bankruptcy. The ultimate long term financial costs of the disaster will will be borne by the U.S. taxpayers. All this because the railroad didn't want to pay for installing more detectors on the approaches to the community.

I stand with Palestine Ohio. The PSR bandwagon has got to stop. It is endangering train crews, wildlife, and families across the country.
It doesn’t look good when a big company like Norfolk Southern is daily putting profit over safety!
Clearly that train was too long and not treated with respect to its manifest. If corporate America can’t keep themselves in check, then the rest of us must!
We are holding Norfolk Southern accountable for all damages do to willful negligence!
If the train crews, and mechanical staff are crying foul, and they are, then clearly something needs to be done.
If they think it’s safe, then the corporate center should be moved there!
A million dollars is nothing for that level of environmental damage.
