Fun fact about the movie wardrobes, starting in prisoner of askaban each of the trio had a signature color chosen by the costume designer Jany Temime: Harry was blue, Ron was maroon, and Hermione was pink. Which is interesting how Hermione really embraces the pink/flower side of herself at the Yule ball. This shows the start of her coming of age where she is being seen 'as a girl' for the first time by a lot of people. But then her red dress at Bill and Fleur's wedding, when she's now a full grown woman, is almost like a step up from the more girly yule ball dress into something that is still feminine but more mature. Plus the fact that red or maroon has always been Ron's signature color, and there's that adorable scene where Ron is just staring at Hermione in awe, ties the two together as a couple. ❤

What I find appealing about the way that they styled her is that I feel like a lot of the time throughout the series she's dressed in this really warm comforting cozy way that looks like she's dressed for a rainy day what's a rainy day still has some opportunity for something magical

Now when I think about it. Hermione is beyond relatable and very realistic character. Usually girls with friendboys and fearless attitude are portrayed very weirdly. But there is nothing weird about Hermione. Rowling has written her very nicely, how that kinda girl actually can be in real life. Usually nerdy girls have boys as friends since they are interested about the same topic, let's say: reading, pc games, board games, role play, academic stuff. That's very realistic.
And it's perfect that it echoes in her clothing. Like you said Elly, "she doesn't really care". That's exactly how these nerdy girls are in real life. They don't have a particular style. They wear chill comfy basic clothes. That's how Hermione is too, with a pinch of real girly style. Cos she does not try to be one of the boys, she is a girl that happens to have 2 best friends from to fellas. Its all very realistic and that has been managed to portray in her clothing.

I loved seeing this breakdown of Hermione’s style. She was my favourite character as a child and she has been so relatable to me as a nerdy girl that still wanted to explore her femininity in some way.
From your last videos it has become more clear to me that I have earth as a style root in the typical English countryside sort of way. Thank you for explaining all these nuances!

I definitely like Hermione's style and my own style unintentionally became very similar to her's in recent years. I also wear hoodies with denim jackets a lot, peacoats, button ups and knitted sweaters, and on rare occasion I like dressing more notably fem. I don't wear much pink though. That's probably the only striking difference. So watching this I think I see her style as mostly masculine but with slight feminine elements, like she's a tomboy with a feminine side, and I relate to that a lot.

If I could offer some feedback, the pacing feels too fast. It's hard to process what is being said when there aren't pauses between ideas. For each of the style element sections, It feels like one run on sentence and I feel desperate for a pause or a breath. The frequent cuts in the video also make it like you are being slapped with one idea after another because it's not fluid. Interestingly, it feels like there were pauses but that they got edited out. Would love to see videos like this done in a voiceover format with intentional cuts to you speaking rather than a continuous side by side. The use of transition words might also help with the flow.

I wish they would have given her outfits that were made up of her brothers' hand-me-downs and pieces Molly would have made for her BUT made it look like Ginny had customised and styled them to make them look cool. I think that could have been a great way of visually showing us that she was coming into her own. Instead they made her look so plain and childish.

What I wish is they fed into the time when the books are set rather than the y2k early 2000s when the films came out. Likewise I wish they made a more of a distinction between muggles and magical, by showing the magical girls in different styles to her, showing she doesn’t really care that much about fitting in, in terms of clothes.

I do find the inclusion of the poorly done fan edit of her face/head from the first film being stuck on a random adult woman’s body, odd and off putting. ( as seen here on the right 2:48 )
    Edit and again here 4:44
