Actually, False Orders does allow you to force Keepers in Iron to move their relics. So if they have 3 warriors defending a relic, you can use false Orders to move 2 of them out and either take the relic with them or leave it behind. The clarification text in the law created more confusion so they've actually had it removed for the second printing of the law. The reason is that when you do a Force action, you get to make the decisions about how exactly the move is being done as if you were that player so you could force Riverfolk to move alone the river as that's a valid move they could make. If you force somebody to move with the ferry, they draw the card which would be a weird decision but you can do it.
Hirelings *could* perhaps change peoples' minds on Root. Having a catch-up mechanic now is huge - one of Root's biggest problems is runaway leaders. They also help make 2p games more feasible, which was another problem that previously required bots.
It's very normal for Lord of the Hundreds to dominate early games. This expansion is a culture shock for a lot of tables because you need to be aggressive against both of these factions from the start. Gone are the days of just sitting in your own corner scoring points and ignoring everyone else, the hundreds will build up a huge army and kill you so you need to kill them first. Also, you gotta treat crafting the same way as if the Vagabond were in the game, so don't go crafting swords, hammer or tea until way later on, those points will still be there but every turn the hundreds have tea is way more value for them. Also, make it hard for them to score from oppress. Put warriors in their backline and force them to fight you, wasting their actions just to keep their core scoring engine online. Mobs are powerful but hard to control so just keep farming them for easy points, Hundreds have such bad card draw that they are unlikely to ambush you. Keepers in Iron are very strong but the hardest faction to master by far. Pulling off a 15 point turn is possible but you need to set up a powerful retinue to do it. Once somebody at your table cracks their code, Badgers will demolish the competition and force you to counter them left and right.
I found that the Duchy is a great faction to get people into the game. Everyone who has played the Duchy so far really liked it while the Cats or Eyrie are hit or miss with folks
this video is for people like me that are living vicariously through everyone that has already gotten their pledge. I'm gonna be waiting until the end for my copy.
Anyone know which board gaming table brand that is in the video? 🤔 I've been looking for some good options, but i havent found anything with a semi-quick time frame. Please @ me for any solid suggestions. I looked at a Wyrmwood Gaming, but the wait list is a little bit longer than I can handle. 😭
There's a lot of tables that show up in this video haha! There's a folding table, a random big glass dinner table, a Jasper, and a table that we built on our channel! -Daniel
"Root... something... expansion... something... burp... fuck... asymmetry... something... burp... fuck... " It might seem like I'm being facetious, but for all the bodily functions and expletives, I both laughed my arse off and was informed during this video. Nicely done.
i just have the base game, but i am hiding from covid, because i have health problems so i havent gotten to play many games, this year, or last year either. :(
The game fundamentally is really simple since it's just understanding how movement, battling, and crafting work. However, each faction is so different from one another that in practice it's gonna be hard to pick up quickly. -Daniel
Yeah this isn't really like our reviews it's more of me just rambling and gushing about this expansion while showcasing how much fun we're having lol -Daniel
the only thing I’m mad about is all the people getting the game and I’m sitting here waiting for a damn shipping link fml But seriously, I do anjoy root, and I’m happy to see new content along with elements that will spice up low player games!
it is rare to find someone in this hobby with this type of humor. I really appreciate it
You should go and see my game group...basically pirates without rum

This is the best way to review an expansion
Even when they say it's not a review, it's still a review in my heart.
Dude you did a great job on this review. I loved the overview and the clips from your gameplay. It really gives a feel for the game

True! I'm not really the most well versed on Root in these angles since I play so often with decently skilled players and always minimum 4p

Braggart
Idk, I've never had an issue with runaway leaders. Usually if anyone tries to do that, they'll get mobbed into last place

Dude, ur intro is hilarious!!! So much fun to watch. Subscribed!!
Nice editing. This is really entertaining to watch 😊
You're really underselling the importance of ADSET here!
We've only legitimately done advanced setup once because every game people wanted to make sure both marauder factions were in play lol
-Daniel
Keepers in iron looks so cool
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO!
This video is for me, cause I only have the river folk expansion
12:47 me and my friends every game night lmao
ayyyy hahaha
-Daniel
This video is for me because I didn't know this even existed.
So thanks. I guess.
Whenever I need a scientific opinion on a new Root expansion, this is the place I come to.
It's going to be a while before I try to play the badgers again, but I love everything about the new expansion.
badgers are unbelievably 5head it's crazy how much foresight they need
-Daniel
This bring me great joy
LET'S GO DANIEL - TIME FOR ASHTON TO PLAY THIS EXPANSION :)
He hates programming yet plays the eyrie wtfffff
-Daniel
wouldn't say playing the Eyrie is great either lol -Ashton
I found that the Duchy is a great faction to get people into the game. Everyone who has played the Duchy so far really liked it while the Cats or Eyrie are hit or miss with folks

3:32 Good choice to basically give us an easy "green"screen of that >:)
Favorite new video from you guys!
Daniel might be the only person on the planet that might convince me to give Root a chance.
You could try the digital version. It's like 10 bucks.
6:30 Those ambush-salesmen get more agressive day by day.
can I just watch you and your friends play games? looks hilarious!
Put me on the list for a deluxe box with everything in it.
Played this on TTS after seeing a let’s play and love it but can’t find it anywhere for a reasonable price.
nailed it. i'm looking for reviews of this expansion JUST to hear more praise of it lol

Nice video as always!
This game looks like Redwall if Redwall was even MORE about cute little mice getting their cute little lives straight rekt.
I only have the base game and the riverfolk since the rest are harder to obtain TwT
How can i have one marauder expansion
Finally, a channel with people that act like human beings and fucking swear now and then, like human beings
I don't understand how to buy one
i just have the base game, but i am hiding from covid, because i have health problems so i havent gotten to play many games, this year, or last year either. :(
I still don't understand how to play this game.

-Daniel
Does it improve 1v1?
Yup! Since there's two more military factions there's more options, and with the hirelings there's way more board presence!
-Daniel
Seems like those skunk looking things are bit like Lizzard cult... Brainburner faction..but somehow i like harder to play factions...
Nice review, but I was expeting more insights about the hirelings. The diferent factions, how they work, and so on.
Yeah this isn't really like our reviews it's more of me just rambling and gushing about this expansion while showcasing how much fun we're having lol
-Daniel
@@Shelfside i got that. But im curious to hear you rambling about the hirelings in more detail hahaha
Alguien sabe cuando saldrá la expansión de los merodeadores en español?
Tarde. Inglés es lo mejor
I don't even play Root and I enjoyed the entire video
the only thing I’m mad about is all the people getting the game and I’m sitting here waiting for a damn shipping link fml
But seriously, I do anjoy root, and I’m happy to see new content along with elements that will spice up low player games!
Yup! And while we didn't try it ourselves because of our group size, at smaller player counts there's way more hirelings everywhere lmao
-Daniel
And I still have yet to ever play Root. 😂
Ayyy lmao thx for watching tho
-Daniel
