Sarus crane in India is a symbol of conjugal bliss as it is believed to pair for the life and death of a partner makes other pine for death.
You might have heard many stories in your childhood which told that a pair of Sarus lived at the banks of lake or pond or river "jheel ke kinare ek sarus ka joda rahta tha...".
You will be the most lucky person if you'll see Sarus pair dancing, they jump very high with excitement facing each other, sometime they sing, sometime they move their neck up and down in rhythm.
The bird gets its name from the Sanskrit word 'Sarasa' meaning courtship, and the spectacular dance of breeding pair justifies it. So next time you hear all the noise about Valentine Day, think of Sarus Cranes.
Pairs may indulge in spectacular displays of calling in unison and posturing. These include "dancing" movements that are performed both during and outside the breeding season and involve a short series of jumping and bowing movements made as one of the pair circles around the other. Dancing may also be a displacement activity, when the nest or young is threatened.
