I read the article in The New York Times about Al and it told how Al loves to work on details. He's a perfectionist like most geniuses. According to the article he probably loved editing this video.
Actually, the Hamilton Polka is a couple of years old, so the syncing here was all about adjusting the speed and scrubbing the video to match the music.
Some might call it grating. There's only so much Yankovich you can take at one time, best consumed in small doses... for me it's about one song every 2 years.
There are not enough words in the English language to describe just how much I admire Weird Al’s work ...Excuse me but how did this end up with so many likes?
I concur...he is a bonafide, certified, card carrying genius and an undeniable American Treasure and upon his eventual passing peacefully in his sleep at 101 years old, his home should be preserved and given historical status and turned into a museum honoring his memory... or something like that.
You should really watch it still. It has its own humour to it, while still keeping its dramatic aspect. After seeing it I understood why people talked about so much for the passed 4 years.
I never expected to see you here! It makes *me* so incredibly happy to see that my favorite otamatone artist is either a fan of weird al, hamilton, or most likely both!
The Hamilton Polka is a perfect sideways cover medley of not only the show's music but themes and moods- it's why this video works so well. It clearly comes from a place of love/respect in a way that Weird Al's work consistently delivers. Full points, four cow bells.
He said in an interview with Jimmy Fallon that it's artificially sped up. Since noone was supposed to perform it live he made it impossible to sing in reality, super fast and on 5 part harmony
This may be the first time in RUclips history where every comment in the comments section is brimming with praise and positivity. Al, you majestic, magnificent son-of-a-gun, you've done it! You achieved the impossible! God bless you, sir!
If you weren't aware, Weird Al made this song about 2 years ago. Search for Lin-Manuel Miranda Weird Al Hamilton Polka and you'll see Miranda react to hearing the parody for the first time with Jimmy Fallon
I asked a friend, "If one day all your music was going to disappear forever, but you could choose one artist to keep, and he would be the only music you'd hear for the rest of your life, who would you choose?" Friend: "Weird Al, because this one artist has more variety in his collection than anyone, and almost every one of his songs were hits on their own."
I had been working on "Music AL" for years, but to get the rights/permission from Al and to successfully pitch it to broadway is a very difficult task.
Several very famous acts would disagree. Al's "interview" series were part of that backlash. However, some have since recanted and allowed parody songs.
I LOVE how this parody is produced. Spot on Al on the speed of your singing syncing with that of the performers, and the music as well. Makes the funny factor increase tremendously.
The funniest part though... the Tea Tax lowered the price of tea to make it competitive. The colonial tea industry rose up and dumped it to remove a competitor not strike a blow for democracy and freedom. Their colonial neighbors weren’t happy about it. Another myth created at the Centennial.
Yeah that's exactly why the musical was wrote. Hamilton does not get nearly as much credit as he did. He's one of the founding fathers yet a lot of people barely know anything about him.
@@sleepingdragons57 He didn't necessarily agree on a lot of things with the rest of the founding fathers. He was in favor of big government, he was not at all in favor of republicanism, political equality and freedom, he wanted the federal government to run everything with a dictatorship to boot (presidents and senators for life) and the states and people would have no individual rights.
This is how the whole movie needs to be done. Weird Al dubbing over every line in the movie haha. As always the Polka's are some of my favorite songs from the master himself "Weird Al" Yankovic.

I'd love to see the original cast do a show with Weird Al as the King.
I'll be there with my toy replica AEW World Championship belt to get EVERYONE to autograph the living Hell outta it.
YES
Considering the fact that King George BARELY interacts with any other cast members, that would be amazing; stunt casting the role.
Ffs YAAASSSSS as long as they do it somewhere besides actual freaking Broadway... or if they do.. for Goodness sake at least film it so that the rest of us can watch! That would be the fastest I ever spend more than $20 on DVD ;)

Can we also take a moment to appreciate the astounding editing job I mean the lip synching is almost perfect and that's very hard to accomplish with the speed at which Al is rapping
Fraser Tustian What this guy said. The polka is still amazing.
Great editing, Shit encoding. The video is interlaced to hell and back lol

The weirdest thing about Al is that he's been a "novelty" for 40 odd years.
He has the novelty as a Family heirloom or China Dishes.
To all the people asking for Weird Al to play King George: He can't. King George loses the war. Audiences wouldn't be able to handle seeing that.
But how about an alternative version where it’s all normal, but the the king wins.

Some might call it grating. There's only so much Yankovich you can take at one time, best consumed in small doses... for me it's about one song every 2 years.

Weird Al on the Accordian, so sweet, no one since "Song Along With Mitch" has rocked one like this!
I love that the first time it says Alexander Hamilton you hear a cash register. This play did indeed make bank.
I just love the fact that this musical is the sole reason his face is still on the $10 bill.
Technically so did Hamilton (get it.. bc he started the national bank… thus literally making “bank”)

You should really watch it still. It has its own humour to it, while still keeping its dramatic aspect. After seeing it I understood why people talked about so much for the passed 4 years.
Oh i already told my wife i dont need to watch it cause i saw this.
Congrats to Lin-Manuel Miranda and the rest of the Hamilton cast/crew! When “Weird Al” parodies your work, you know you’ve truly made it big.
Lin talked about this in an interview with Jimmy Fallon and Weird Al himself, and said his greatest achievement was having Al cover Hamilton.
I would unironically watch a Hamilton production where Al plays every part and they edit it all together afterwards.
This man is brilliant. He just summed up Hamilton in 5 minutes and 1 second.

DO A HAMILTON COVER PLSS
The Hamilton Polka is a perfect sideways cover medley of not only the show's music but themes and moods- it's why this video works so well. It clearly comes from a place of love/respect in a way that Weird Al's work consistently delivers. Full points, four cow bells.

Ok, now we can officially say Hamilton's made it
I asked a friend, "If one day all your music was going to disappear forever, but you could choose one artist to keep, and he would be the only music you'd hear for the rest of your life, who would you choose?"
Friend: "Weird Al, because this one artist has more variety in his collection than anyone, and almost every one of his songs were hits on their own."
I am so happy he did all of the voices himself.
Sour Cupcake WAIT HE DID THE ROOM WHERE IT HAPPENED
I think it is about time for "Weird Al, the musical" to happen.
You should've seen him on tour! That's basically what it was!
That's pretty much what his movie, UHF, was.
I had been working on "Music AL" for years, but to get the rights/permission from Al and to successfully pitch it to broadway is a very difficult task.

He's easily one of the most talented artists of all time and he's so underrated.
He also does a bang up job voicing a middle schooler in a cartoon.
You're never too old to laugh at random meows and fart noises in a parody song.
True
As someone that loves this musical, Al was here first and this really is the highest compliment. When Al makes a parody of you, you've made it!
Exactly
No higher honor
Several very famous acts would disagree. Al's "interview" series were part of that backlash. However, some have since recanted and allowed parody songs.
Weird Al improves everything he touches.
I love how he usually changes the lyrics for his parodies but all he does with this one is change the style 😂
Er, the polkas have always stayed true to the original lyrics.
Polka medleys are a thing Weird Al does, he combines a bunch of songs lyrics into a single polka
He did it before with "Bohemian Polka."
Other than added sound effects (my shot having those bullets)
he does the same thing for his other "polka" songs
If I ever become President...Weird Al WILL sing at my inauguration.
Sounds great! Let us know when you run.

King George: "0/10. There wasn't enough tea in it. It's all in the ocean instead of in cups."
Oml I loved how sassy and witty the king was in the show 😂😂😂
instead of dumping it you smuggle it duh they did not have a brain back then?
If the world is flat, then the entire ocean was turned into a massive tea cup.
Oh shit I thought you meant the 6 siege stream
The funniest part though... the Tea Tax lowered the price of tea to make it competitive. The colonial tea industry rose up and dumped it to remove a competitor not strike a blow for democracy and freedom. Their colonial neighbors weren’t happy about it. Another myth created at the Centennial.
I think Lin would actually laugh at this. Take a bow. This man combined rap and polka and did it to perfection.
The people that dislike are just mad he didn’t make a full song of it, because no one can hate weird al
How is a 5 minute polka that combines 15 songs from Hamilton "not a full song" ?
