I kind of want to do a Daytrip on a SUP to the barron canyon alone but im a little intimidated preparing for worst case scenarios. I enjoyed the video seeing what it would actually be like. Rapids scare me a bit but luckily there's portages.
All of the places with rapids around the loop we did were marked with the portages, so you should be fine. I try to be prepared for the “most possible adversities”, and have my contingency plans, but every mode of transportation to the backcountry has its own worse case scenario. I worry about poking a hole that I can’t repair on my SUP, but that’s no different than a canoeist slipping on a portage and cracking the hull of the canoe on a rock.

Thanks! I had seen pictures and knew it was going to be a beautiful place, but experiencing it in person was a whole different thing. Definitely recommend!
Glad you were ok after your fall into the river that early in the year. Can’t say I have seen anyone portaging a stand up board but it seems you handled it well. I for one couldn’t lol. I don’t have good balance lol. That’s one spot in the park I haven’t been to yet it’s on my list. I live in Huntsville so I’m not far. I’m not as lucky as you to have friends that like the same stuff as you. I do all my trips solo. Any how thanks for the adventure.
It was a good swim. 😁 I was prepared for a potential dump, and had a “warm-up fast kit” easily accessible, but wasn’t needed at all. The water was cold but manageable.

It’s a Hennessy Expedition, asymmetrical hammock. Check them out. I just got it, but they have been around for a long time.
