That sound is absolutely surreal. Grates on the brain with a kind of sick sinking feeling. The mechanical hum of it is intoxicating. Jamie West-Oram is without a doubt the most underrated guitarist in history
Cy has one of those incredible, unforgetable voices. The group has that intellectual but not at all snobbish approach to their art form. I have many favorite British artists. Not to knock anything else, but when something grabs you hard and deep.....you know how it is:D
Fell in love with this after the credits of streets of fire awesome movie the 80s should never end but the music and the memories take me back to a better time like the garbage crap today makes no sense feeling sorry for this milieu
These Millennials don't know how carefree and easy it was back in the 80s the TV the movies going to live concerts hanging out at the mall going to the arcade dance clubs with great music not this crap music the '80s was the simple life
Thank you, yes I am DJ HENCO D. On RUclips I have under my nick more extended mixes and long versions. Once again thank you all for a good assessment of my work on this extraordinary song, as well as others. But not all youtube remixes by me published. Unfortunately. .
Anyone know how the synth sequence was achieved? Seen footage of Rupert Greenall chopping at the keyboards, but I reckon it was a Rupert Hine sequencer mashup...
I am very impressed with the intro work!!!! I thought I was the only one who loved the sequence! I messaged the keyboard player from the Fixx and got no response. :( Do you have any knowledge of the sequence and how it was done? I plan on using this for my music. I can translate the .wav to .mid. Would rather know how it was done back in the 80's.
Rupert Hine created the distinctive keyboard part at the beginning of the song by triggering a keyboard from a pulse created by a Linn drum. It was the triggering that made the unusual effect.
@@MrBfg586 It was a PPG Wave triggered by a LinnDrum (enhanced by a ton of digital delay and 80’s reverb). Although Rupert Greenall was a serious whiz with synthesizer programming (the Fixx were a bunch of musical wizards, all of them), having Robert Hine on board as producer couldn’t have hurt. It’s one of the most memorable pop synth sequences ever recorded (they use a sampled version when playing live, because it is truly a studio creation)-made all the more magical because no one has a clue how they did it. I’d wager that Rupert Greenall himself probably couldn’t recreate it today-I have a feeling it was at least in part one of those prodigious studio accidents…
I love this band and their music BUT I have to wonder why they don't open this song live with this cool sound? I mean Adam is a very accurate drummer so he could put headphone on or "In Ear Monitors" and play along with this no problem! It's the only Fixx song that lacks a little bit live....
I love the song although the editing is a bit rough. There are quite a few spots where the flow is not seamless. That being said, I still like your version.
That grating sound past the 3 min mark zapped me with one iconic film scene: 'Neo' as he's physically disconnected and removed from the Matrix 'Field' beginning right about here: ruclips.net/video/NpyaKWY9HOc/видео.html

I normally don't like it when great music is fucked with, but you just cannot get enough of this classic. Good job.
what an amazing song! the guitar riffs are just fabulous

Vyborny!
No malice intended, but I'll take the 6:33 version.

Editing is pretty cheezy, but i'll give ya an "A" for effort.
Rupert Greenall, bitches! One of the first to create his own patches.

CANT MAKE THIS SONG LONG ENOUGH!!!😮😂😂😂

This is too much intro mix, not balance out for the song
