Man! I used to cruise down the road to this awesome tune way back in 1980s! The car radio blasted until the speakers blow up! I used to drive a 1981 Toyota supra! Loved that car! This song is a timeless classic!👌😎👍
Drove a valiant sedan 245 hemi (265 better) back n 1980 @18 (now going on 61) when this pearla was released! Best "instrumental" 🎹🥁🎛️🎼 modern day (modern enough) tune ever done, well done gazza nueman (along with his mate, "gazza Oldman!" actor) cheers 🎉
I agree this song changed everything for me in the spring/summer 1980. It just blew me away - it just fills the room with this insane sound - thanks GN. Before this song came out Giorgio Moroder's I Feel Love was my favorite song until this one and those two are still my favorite records ever!
The original is a LOT older than 35!!!! Count back to 1979 from 2021.... more like 42!!!! Still sounds just as great today as it did back in the summer of '79!!!!!
Still remember when this was released over here in New Zealand...ha simply blew people's minds to bits...Numan as per usual so far ahead of his time he could be considered alien...
Kraftwerk did that tour de France 🇫🇷 ban in the 70's. The technology originators. Give a listen to Kraftwerk starting with the songs tour de 🇫🇷 and Trans Europe express.
While there were other artists before him (Kraftwerk, Eno, Human League for instance) Gary Numan was the man that said to Great Britain "Here's electronic music, YOU TOO can be commercially successful. And he did it by accident. Well....kind of.... Carl Craig? Derrick May? Knuckles even....Bow down to the Godfather of Techno. This man is a genius.
GREAT TO HEAR FROM YOU ABOUT THIS TRACK. YOU'RE A learning young man and keep your ears open for the music that you prefer, if you found it cool if you have to continue to look for it.... even better, because its the journey of the search that will educate and inspire your own unique musical collection and it will make you a wealth of knowledge to be able to help others customize their own personal musical preferences. keep your eyes and ears open for all forms and styles of music and never stop receiving the music.
Just keep in mind variety is the spice of life. Open your ears to all types and you will know when it is for you, you will want to just get up and nearly dance on air with your eyes closed. :)
Greets from Germany, i was 14 too, if i listened the first Time to Garry, but it was the Song: Are Friends Electric, now im 54, 40 Years later!!! I think, you can understand me!👍
One of the defining songs of the 80's new wave.. considered as the best in many ways. I agree..great to listen to. Great extended version here..thank you.
This was released 37 years ago. 37. Do you feel old now? I do. Gary Numan is such a musical genius that Time is still trying to catch up to him. Gary numan and the tube way army brilliant
i remeber the very moment i first heard this song. it changed my musical life forever! came home from the pub, switched on the fm radio and it started. bought the album the next day. then his earlier tubeway army. then kraftwerk. Ruthie the record shop lady helped me discover...
Strange to think that this song is 35 years old!! I remember when it was new! Listening to extended Gary Numan songs brings me into a weird state of mind.
46 SOB'S thumbed down this KICK-ASS 1979 CLASSIC! Poor millenials, they MUST BE more and more exposed to great classics: like this gem 💎 here! Fellow Generation Xers, we must continue to educate millenials, on great music 🎶!
This reminds me of the time when I used to go to the pub and this was always on the jukebox playing and everyone trying to dance to the music and sing the song. 🤩🤩🤩👨🎤👨🎤👨🎤👨🎤🕺🕺🕺
My cats love this song. Gary Numan is such a musical genius that Time is still trying to catch up to him. Listening to extended Gary Numan songs brings me into a weird state of mind.
Here in my car, I feel safest of all I can lock all my doors, it's the only way to live In cars Here in my car, I can only receive I can listen to you, it keeps me stable for nights In cars Here in my car, where the image breaks down Will you visit me please, if I open my door? In cars Here in my car, I know I've started to think About leaving tonight, although nothing seems right In cars
When I first saw the thumbnail for this remix, I knew it was fan-made and I thought 'there's NO WAY I can sit through almost ten minutes of 'Cars' - but here I am, almost an hour later, playing this again and again... Incredible mix. Well done.
I've always loved this song, it seems like it never gets old, i guess some songs are timeless... Listening to extended Gary Numan songs brings me into a weird state of mind. DAMMIT MY HEADPHONES ARENT LOUD ENOUGH!
Great work. Although there was never an "Extended Version" of "Cars" officially created or released (I think the 1987 version got the Razormaid treatment) this sounds likes a proper Extended Remix from back in the day. This WILL be played at my next house party.
@@labshot Sir, those five remixes were made in 1987 for a re-release of this track. You can find this on Discogs. My comment was that when this song was released originally, in 1979-1980 (depending upon the country) there was never a commercial "extended" remix. Even the 12" single had the original album version on it - it runs just under 4 minutes. The remixes you speak of were done by Zeus B. Held in 1987 and this song was again released in 1993 with those and a few more 'modern' sounding mixes. Have a nice day.
Man this is great and funny at the same time, I like it and yes the original should have been longer but that's what time is for. Thanks Gary Numan for the memories.
There's live drumming playing as well as a drum machine on this; you can hear the timing in the two different snare drum sounds on the live snare fills.
this was the first single by Gary I bought although I had already purchased Replicas and thought Gary was amazing. I then bought The pleasure principle and was forever a Numanoid.
What a great song! If your still listening to this song in 2024 your Dope! Long live the 80's...
That extended intro was killer I never thought of it. English 80s is killer ALL OF IT!
This song is timeless. Still hits Hard in 2024.
Man! I used to cruise down the road to this awesome tune way back in 1980s! The car radio blasted until the speakers blow up! I used to drive a 1981 Toyota supra! Loved that car! This song is a timeless classic!👌😎👍
Was that your first Ca-Ca-Ca-Cars? I had a $200.00 Impala....gas was .75cents....I hear ya brother!!!!

The best part of the song is that harmonistic synth outro. Goosebumps inducing.
Yes definitely ❤ The outro synths sound trippy 1979 what a year ❤ I was 7 ❤
I agree this song changed everything for me in the spring/summer 1980. It just blew me away - it just fills the room with this insane sound - thanks GN. Before this song came out Giorgio Moroder's I Feel Love was my favorite song until this one and those two are still my favorite records ever!
I always felt that official single/album version ran way too short, this version finally does justice to a great groundbreaking tune...
AGREED! it's erotic sensual and you just never want it to end..
That DAMN BEAT IS THE SHIIIT 🤘
There are at least five more really good mixes....that are old....not "re-mastered"....
Another AGREED!!
Love ya
Gary Numan is such a musical genius that Time is still trying to catch up to him.

maybe he had aliens help him with the album...?
Awesome timeless song. Just gets better and better with age. Great to find an extended version. Really well put together.
paved the way for techno music....true classic!

Just to be back in the 80s for a few days....(released in 1979, but most definitely an 80s vibe).
This version is hot again ! ! 😊😊
A timeless masterpiece!!!
So is the album 😊
even the b boys in new york were break dancing to numan in 1979, that's how far ahead of his time he was.

One of the best extended mixes you'll hear. Not just a bunch of percussion filler as was typical of 80's extended mixes. Very well done. Thanks!

I’ve enjoyed this tune, all these years now! THANKS FOR POSTING.
Still sounds fresh. The atmosphere is what makes this song.
very first video I ever saw in 1979.
Contains the famous Whip Beat of the early newwave era (1979-1983).
