- Gary Numan Cars (Extended Mix). Well, this track changed everything and my life. Gary Numan more or less sold me with this track Cars. I love it, I love it, I love it. Gary's 2nd number 1 chart topping single here in the UK.
Again, this track has had the Pure Salvation Extended Mix treatment.

I always felt that official single/album version ran way too short, this version finally does justice to a great groundbreaking tune...

I agree this song changed everything for me in the spring/summer 1980. It just blew me away - it just fills the room with this insane sound - thanks GN. Before this song came out Giorgio Moroder's I Feel Love was my favorite song until this one and those two are still my favorite records ever!
Gary Numan is such a musical genius that Time is still trying to catch up to him.

While there were other artists before him (Kraftwerk, Eno, Human League for instance) Gary Numan was the man that said to Great Britain "Here's electronic music, YOU TOO can be commercially successful. And he did it by accident.

Great work. Although there was never an "Extended Version" of "Cars" officially created or released (I think the 1987 version got the Razormaid treatment) this sounds likes a proper Extended Remix from back in the day. This WILL be played at my next house party.

@@labshot Sir, those five remixes were made in 1987 for a re-release of this track. You can find this on Discogs. My comment was that when this song was released originally, in 1979-1980 (depending upon the country) there was never a commercial "extended" remix. Even the 12" single had the original album version on it - it runs just under 4 minutes. The remixes you speak of were done by Zeus B. Held in 1987 and this song was again released in 1993 with those and a few more 'modern' sounding mixes. Have a nice day.
this was the first single by Gary I bought although I had already purchased Replicas and thought Gary was amazing. I then bought The pleasure principle and was forever a Numanoid.
