Confused about Rory comments against Gordon on left leaving Trippier exposed. The he contradicts himself later saying we need more width.

He obviously hasn’t watched Gordon play. I’m struggling to think of a winger that tracks back as much as Gordon does and as fast as Gordon does. Defending from the wing and tracking back is a non-negotiable in an Eddie Howe team. He’d offer tripper 10000x more protection than Foden does who’s never even on the left hand side of the pitch and definitely doesn’t track back

Everyone keeps talking about how "easy" Englands side of the draw is, yet after Slovakia we could very well end up playing Italy then the Netherlands. That's not exactly easy, is it?
Everyone's looking at this as if we're almost guaranteed to get Austria and Romania or something, and just walk to the final, but even those teams would probably beat England given our current form!
Hell, we might not even get past Slovakia! I think a lot of people are disrespecting them and hugely under-rating them. They just beat Belgium ffs! They're hardly gonna be a walk-over! We thought we were gonna breeze past Iceland at Euro 2016. Look at how that one turned out!
Southgate is one lucky MF, he's once again had a dream draw, easy path to the final. England getting to the latter stages of tournaments because of easy draws is papering over the cracks of just how terrible the England team are.

@@Cagefighter they beat them home and away in the qualifiers. Its not "easy" but they will be rightly favoured to get past them. Who knows though? People are getting ahead of themselves. It could well be Slovakia or Switzerland playing in the quarter final or even both of them playing each other.

This mentality that we have in England of crossing our fingers and hoping we don't meet a big team untill the Semi's/Final itself is embarassing. It allows us to stink through the tournament, and of course when we do finally meet a Spain, or a Germany/France, because we are stuck in that stinkmode first gear, we get rolled over. Momentum is everything, and stinking our way through the Group, Last 16 and possibly even Quater Finals doesn't fully prepare us for the big games.

We have all the tools but we don't have the person who knows how to use them. Gordon has some of the highest stats for defensive workrate in the league, especially for a winger.
It is better for English fans to have collective Amnesia than to expect any change in the England on field strategy.
It’s not a conspiracy that England have easier draws, specifically for this tournament, England got an easier route cause Portugal rotated and underperformed, that being said, no game looks easy for England at this tournament, whether that’s Southgate’s pragmatic football or the team having zero cohesion, we’ll wait & see

enough; maybe it’s experience, but he kills attacking momentum a wee bit too much and wants to switch onto his left foot. He’s becoming a tad too repetitive and I feel his fellow team mates are suffering for this. We already have Foden playing in an undesirable position with a cautious Trippier by his side, so we are truly lacking inspiration in both wings. It’s a cycle that needs breaking
There’s nobody in the box for starters and when he tried to do combinations they don’t pass the ball back. There’s zero chemistry and Walker on the ball is horror. Trent should play RB and the chances would be more potent on the right side imo
He is left footed, that's why he only crosses when he is deep into the box, and because its his wrong foot he really just puts it in the danger area rather than pick people out, but to be fair he does do that well, and he has a good record of goals/shots when he cuts inside.
Jennings should stand for election as he has an incredible capacity to use a lot of words to say almost nothing at all.

This is Southgate’s very last chance to write his name into history, if he screws this up it will be his loss. I take heart that he’ll be gone after this anyway. There is no way he can continue. It’s a real disadvantage when we come up against sides of equal ability but who have alert tactically aware coaches.

I find it hilarious that left footed players are playing on the right side of the pitch and vice versa. If you are left footed you should be playing on the left and if you’re right footed you should play on the right. Then you can move the ball around quicker and move the bloody thing FORWARD instead of always having to “cut in” and usually move it BACKWARDS while doing so. It’s just so bloody obvious.
Netherlands, Switzerland and Italy are thinking the same thing.

Jude is not a 10 he’s an 8, foden is a better 10 than Jude but he’s overall game is not better than Bellingham.

England's football is too predictable and pedestrian. The team has the skills and pace to move the ball quicker creating opportunities, something they are not currently doing. England's current tactics are putting pressure on themselves hence they are defending much more than they should be. Allow the players to play the football they do each week at club level.

England faced 3rd place team because England finished top. Do you want England finished second and face Germany? Then vs Spain and might face Portugal or France in Semi?
A draw is a draw and everybody knows it before hand, you can use the draw as advantage.
If England finish second and face less strong team, well you could say that England play with the draw in mind. Now they Finish Top and face less strong team, people points out that England is with luck again.
If it is luck, i mean England deserve it by finishing top. France knew if they finished second would go to Spain-Germany bracket. Belgium also knew that if they finished second they would face France. Why it still happened eventually??
To be honest, either they want to face strong team themselves and have less chance of progress or they are unable to escape it or perhaps the supposed strong teams are not really strong for France or Belgium. It's simple as that.
England finished top BECAUSE denmark played for a draw vs serbia. Had denmark beaten serbia they would’ve won the group (a one goal win even if 1-0) would mean they finished top on goals scored and any bigger amount would’ve mean they won the group on goal difference
If england had beaten denmark in the previous match they would’ve won group before playing slovenia and if they drew with denmark before defeating slovenia they would’ve gotten 7 points and guaranteed top spot
If slovenia had beaten england, they would’ve stolen the group winner trophy and england would’ve finished second. England had the group winner trophy handed to them on a silver platter but they almost let denmark and slovenia steal it from them.

England aren’t criticized because they failed to beat teams ranked lower than them, they are criticized for dull football and winning the group ONLY BECAUSE they relied on others instead of taking matters into their own hands.
belgium simultaneously acted like they wanted to draw vs ukraine and play france instead of going for the win. Their fans were booing the players afterwards for the dull performance.
france simply had many missed chances and couldn’t seem to score many goals but the dutch incorrectly had a goal disallowed vs the french. austria would’ve otherwise topped the group, the dutch would’ve been second and the french would’ve been third.
@@yoshiwoollyworld It's not too easy as we think it is. The fact that you say Denmark was aiming for a draw is not reflecting the reality of it. They could go for a win, why did they go a draw? Was they afraid of the counter attack from Serbia? If this is the case it's not even correct to criticize England for draw vs Denmark. What if England kept on attacking and eventually lost to Denmark?
