Of course, no mortal can defeat an Angel in a wrestling match and so I'm thinking that it wasn't about physical strength; I think that the wrestling scene completes Jacobs vow in Genesis 28:20 in the most profound way, in that Jacob, ( Name meaning: grabber; usurper ) was now grabbing hold of God, and refusing to let go. Also, Jacob didn't curse the Angel or give up even after being stricken with a painful injury. Reminded me of the Canaanite woman who refused to be offended in Matthew 15: 26-28; she got her blessing....... Don't we all have those seasons in life when we feel stricken by God ( illness, job loss, flat tire ) ? Thanks again !
