Big hello from a Croatian STS crane operator ;)

This is fascinating! Watched the boats being loaded and unloaded at Felixstowe yesterday and couldn't make out where the operator was in relation to the container. Must get a crick in the neck with all that looking down; and must have a head for heights! That glass floor would sure worry me!!

Thank you for an interesting perspective we would not normally view. What is the lift capacity of such cranes and what is a light/heavy container? Do you have any knowledge of the container weight prior to lifting it?

Geoff Arkley Thanks for your comment Geoff, This crane has a lifting capacity of 55 tonnes. A light container (empty) weighs normally 2.2 tonnes and a full up to 30 tonnes. We have scales in the cab that read the weight of the container. Cheers
