    This Simpson character is a bit of a joke! Dressed like a hunter but carries a shotgun, which definitely will not stop a charging Lion ,and his tracker is carrying a Martini Henry single shot black powder rifle? The simple reason why Lions are now attacking humans is because they have lost their fear of humans, when they were hunted regularly they would not go anywhere near a human. The bit about the lack of prey species is also ridiculous, if the bush Pigs are attacking the crops in large groups, then there are plenty of prey species to be had, this whole programme appears to have been made by amateurs. Weird to hear a veteran lion tracker say something like he did......"It's very difficult to keep up with these animals because they're always on the move."
    I'm not even any kind of expert and even I know they're on the move for a maximum of maybe 4-6 hours in a day, they lay around sleeping in the same spot, not moving around, for the other 18-20 hours of each day. They move around less then most animals in Africa....are you sure this guys an expert

    • @johnmead8437
      @johnmead8437 2 месяца назад +2

      They'll travel for many miles after a kill, maneaters are well known for it. Not all are laying about waiting for Nat Geo animal experts. Or the sort of experts shown. These are not Bigfoots, they're lions. They've been infamous for eating the locals in Tanzania since written records began, and before that. Some districts in particular apparently, including 2 named here. For a period during British colonisation, they had an efficient game department that vigorously hunted them down, and were good at it. Some would have dug a hole or built a blind near the kill and hidden in it, but they weren't US experts. Or made a cage trap & baited it with themselves in a secure compartment. Few lions got to kill large numbers of the locals, Njombe prides being a very notable exception before the ranger sorted them out & converted them to floor mats. With modern population and poaching displacing their more usual food, humans are more likely on the menu. One ranger described some are professionals, others casual.
      So it seems that the normal lion behaviour of centuries, millenniums, is suddenly bizarre and abnormal just because a few humans choose to invent this fantasy that lions are nice and nature harmless. They're not gentlemen or noble, they are big cats. And cats are unpleasantly predatory if very hungry or bored. The fact excess human population provides alternative meals must be quite pleasant for lions so inclined in those parts where this behaviour seems hereditary.
      Inventing an excuse for the belief (& practice) of witchcraft serves to emphasise the delusions imported experts demonstrate. It's African religion. The issue of poisoning is very sound though. It's what killed off tigers too.
      Should be taken on board these rangers (impeded by a film crew and actors) are trying to limit killing lions to the problem ones, one incentive being to foster commercial trophy hunting of effectively surplus population.

      @@johnmead8437 Nice book you wrote there but none of it disproved anything I just stated....they move around about 4 to 6 hours a day and sleep the rest....it's well known factual data look it up yourself. So my original statement still stands

By placing well trained midwives in communities, population growth will slow and therefore human encroachment into wildlife areas reduce and poaching subside. It always fascinates me why this is usually in East Africa where you get man eating lions. Very very rarely happens in Zimbabwe where I am from. Regularly see lions in Kariba and Victoria Falls cities yet they maybe attack humans once every 5 years and I'm not aware of a group of lions consistently attacking and eating humans 😮
    My East African brothers and sisters what are you doing wrong to cause this change in behaviour 🤔😕😒 I regularly also visit surrounding countries of Botswana, Mozambique and South Africa and this isn't common in Southern Africa

    • @SPharaoh
      @SPharaoh 9 дней назад

      The people eattten by lion beasts are mostly from your country Zimbabwe. We all saw the documentary where your people were migrating on foot to South Africa and lions have learned beating bots and pans was a dinner bell of human being (Zimbabweans). It was only a documentary of westerners recorded ultra aggressssive mean lions. If it wasn’t for the westerners who were recording wild life documentaries no one would ever talk about it.
      It’s not how you put it it’s about transparency about man eating lions and admitting lions are eating people. Your country does not and will not admit how lions are devastating Zimbabweans. As far as what has gone wrong is, we used to hunt and eliminate many lions and lions used to fear man. However, we are embracing “conservation” and no one is allowed to shoosh a lion. In return, lions lost their fear of man and man is on the menu.

      They needed some bleeding heart that beautiful creature would understand to release it. So it could kill off a few children (they do that), more likely due to having a sore paw. The caged one could have been released though, if anyone had the bottle to do that. They don't like their captors much except as scratching posts. Unless leopards were suspect maneaters (they can be, & very difficult to get). Unfortunately it's hard to identify which leopard, so all get killed until the maneating stops. And leopards can be intermittent killers, the uncertainty was always there in some cases, wondering if the problem was just having time off.

    Regards the leopard accidentally caught in the trap. They screwed up- it was supposed to be a lion, so they killed it anyway to make it look like a victory instead of a stupid mistake.

      According to what they said in that scene, they killed the leopard because they've been known to kill humans at times, too. Plus there's the politics of it: Leaving another large predator that's similar to lions alive after it was caught would have been "unthinkable," as the narrator said. And it wasn't "a stupid mistake;" those kinds of traps always have the potential to ensnare animals other than the ones you're targeting.

      I don't think that it is a matter of not knowing what is needed to build stronger. It is a manner of having.
      Bomas, as I understand, are built out of available thorny bushes stacked as high and deeply as possible.
      From what I have heard of this particular situation, the bomas didn't stop the lions
      They would jump onto the rooftops and break in through the roofs. Break down doors, even attack in broad daylight because they could. They were not as risk. The locals don't have weapons sufficient to protect themselves and the lions know that.
