- Robert Glasper Experiment has kicked off 2012 with the release of the new single "Ah Yeah" this week through all digital retailers. The track which features Musiq Soulchild and Chrisette Michele on vocals-is the lead single from Glasper's highly-anticipated forthcoming album Black Radio, which will be released by Blue Note Records on February 28!

Musiq is his own separate INSTRUMENT on this TRACK. He NAILED it. There isn't one single vocalist on this CD that isn't at the top of their game, and totally IN SYNC with Robert Glasper as he does his work collaborating with them. This is really new. This is pure jazz instrumentalism taken to a new dimension. If anything, Glasper shows how true to the Jazz root that modern R&B and Hip Hop really are, and how it is quite proper that Jazz gives MUCH love back to the Genres it birthed.

This song (and Balck Radio) introduced me to Robert Glasper. Since then I went on a musical journey that took me year over year through his works as far back as 2004! I listened to his music as it evolved (thought going backwards) and discovered Derrick Hodge, Terrace Martin, Kendrick Scott, Gretchen Parlato, Otis Brown III, KING, and in many ways Rediscovered Dilla.
People through the phrase musical genius around so much that it's lost its meaning. But Robert Glasper, if you've journeyed like I did and recognize his influence on other.. is really one of this generation's music geniuses.
I can appreciate your journey. Music will take your spirit on a trip of emotions that warms your soul. You just sit there and enjoy the moment. Peace to you!

Man oh man! This song is hitting home! Its a rainy Sunday afternoon as I listen to this. How anyone can dislike this song is beyond my cerebral comprehension. Music like this touches the soul and can even move one to tears. Love will do that to you and love songs will do the same. A special someone had this on a mixtape he sent all the way from where he was on Valentines Day, and I think it was the perfect way to end a dedication mix.
The line "If you think that we've got what it takes to go the distance" really resonates with me, because we're trying to work out this long distance thing, not as a relationship but basically two people who are trying to make the most of what they have when they have it.
