I started crying at “who knew I had such a strong girl living under my roof this whole time” and did not stop crying for the rest of the episode. Camila is SUCH a good person
My mom was definitely abusive, though I don't watch the owl house, camila isn't abusive, she's the mom I want, the mom we all want, all my mom does is make me a slave, asking for stuff even if she literally can walk, and getting mad at me when I tell her the same thing, and she doesn't even fucking clean the dogs shit, I want a mom like camila
Miscalculating what is best for your child DOES NOT MEAN ABUSE... especially when you acknowledge and try to correct your parenting mistakes! I love Camila
Exactly! She's human, she thought she was doing what was best for Luz - and I certainly don't think it's the worst idea in the world, Luz would have had fun! I really don't understand people who call her abusive
Late but Camila knew what was best for Luz, taking her to a camp was the best option given how it was a completely safe and friendly one, also regarding how she flat out wanted to involve a FIREWORK for a BOOK PROJECT in a CLASSROOM. Safe to say Luz was best arriving into that camp.
2:10 Gets me to tear up every time. This woman went from "I'm scared of this thing that was taking Luz's place for months" to "this is my adopted daughter and you will not harm her" as fast as the TOH community did.
You can almost see the thoughts wizzing through her head as she processes Vee's true form. "This thing impersonated my daughter....but Luz knows and is vouching for it? I trust Luz...and she knows more about this than me....this must be so scared too. Ok, let's rock."
@@tarniabook3076 Ita not really a stereotype. My mom is Latina and when I mess up quite bad. She hits me with a chancla so I can learn to not do it again
@@tarniabook3076 it ain’t a stereotype if it’s true 😭 Although usually it’s the kid facing the wrath of a flip-flop and not an adult lol It kinda fucks us up, but hey, it’s better than having the same amount of audacity i’ve seen in some white kids. Trust me, that shit is WILD. I’d rather be humbled bu force than turn out like *that*.
Allow me to weigh in a bit. Growing up I was in a position a lot like Luz's. I was an outcast and basically had no friends. You know what my teachers and parents solution to this was? To try to force me to find more 'acceptable' hobbies and interests so I wasn't picked on. That is a LOT of of emotional trauma and stress on a child. This was teh first episode so show Camila making any effort to try to met Luz half way or accept the more quirky side of her. In the pilot it seemed like she saw her having these interests as a problem. I find it kind of ironic that people go on and on about the trauma and self-hate created by not giving GSRM kids representation or making them confirm. But for some reason, this same issue doesn't extend to other elements. Cause let me tell you, I had to grow up with the same fear that my parents or society hated me over things I couldn't control. Don't get me wrong. Clearly Camila isn't traditionally abusive. But sending her to that camp was the WORST thing she could have done (and if the camp was for Luz's bisexuality instead of fantasy interest no one would even THINK of arguing with me on that), and her choosing to stay in the demon realm WAS THE BEST. But if Camila insists on holding Luz to that promise by the series end, then yes. She'll have crossed into full on abuse.
Consider if this way: if she won’t let luz back in the demon realm ever again--Luz would lose all her friends and found family, and her girlfriend. She would lose every support system she made and that is--sad. She would be at square one again when she comes back.
There's a big difference between being abusive and being human. Just because a parent can make mistakes in an effort to do what's best for their kid doesn't mean that they're in any way abusive. Camilla strikes me as one of the most realistic parental figures I've seen in animation. She gets scared, she gets angry, she works hard, she makes mistakes and may not always understand what Luz is going through, but she still tries her best and loves her child to no end; even willing to extend that love to children that aren't her own. Camilla is a real one and I honestly adore her.
Also, she is honest with Luz when possible. Fully telling your kid you're scared is rare for parents, but important especially in a really wild scenario like what Camilla is going through.
I find it’s so real that Camilla HERSELF experienced this; we often forget the nuances, and as a neurodivergent Latina it is SO real how she goes about this. My mum has adhd like me, and growing up I was also bullied. There were things said that aggravated my masking, but I absolutely know it was out of love and by extension fear of being alone. Camilla knows that struggle, and is likely falling back on how she was raised (much like how my mum did) and it’s incredibly realistic and was a gut punch. I love it
I never even knew people thought she was abusive until just recently. Literally, coming from an abusive household here, I literally cried at how much she clearly loved Luz just seen in season 1/2. She's a single mother with a neurodivergent daughter and a high stress job. And even when she pushed the camp, she was extremely gentle. When Luz got in trouble, she never yelled or lost her temper or even blamed Luz. And as we know now by the start of season 3, she was basically gaslit into doing it. Which is unfortunately way too real. The neurodivergent experience between Camila and Luz is far too real. But honestly, people said she was abusive? This is a case of parents trying their best even if they aren't perfect. It's not toxic, it's not abusive. Luz is still really confident a lot of the time, enjoys what she likes, and is able to express herself. Even if sometimes she struggles cause of the grief from losing her dad and not having any friends, it's obvious how well she's been cared for by her parents even if it's just Camila now. If this is what people think an abusive parent looks like that that's just worrying. Because even if Camila isn't perfect, she does her best for Luz constantly. Suggesting a camp so she can make friends (and with the context we have now, being pushed into it by someone using her trauma against her) is far from abusive at all. She loves Luz so much and just watching her makes me wish I could have a mother like her. Ah that scene when Luz is being pulled back had me sobbing. Such a beautiful and well done scene. I love Camila so much and her relationship with Luz and now Vee too.
She’s not abusive, or toxic, she’s just trying her best, being a parent is difficult, of course she can’t be perfect, but, she!s so sweet, and luz she did miss her mom, but also wanted to be a witch, and she actually matured, it’s hard, but she’s still a great mom Edit: sum of the stuff I said in here changed because of ep 1 of S3, this comment was made a year ago I remember u
@@anidleteen That summer camp was a G-Rated conversion camp. There is a big difference between wanting her child to focus or limit her imagination and trying to suppress it. Seriously, WHY is the summer camp given such a pass by you and so many other people in the fandom?
@@SuperSwordman1 well first of all we don't know how bad the camp would have been - we see Vee went and she had a good time and made good friends, she seems happy and open, and the only reason she got rid of Luz's stuff was to distance herself from the real Luz most likely out of guilt Second, it was an honest mistake by Camila. I've no doubt she was recommended it by the Principal and it looked good on review. There's no way she would have sent Luz anywhere without checking reviews and recommendations. Sure, it wasn't her greatest idea, but she didn't do it to be malicious or abusive, she did it out of love because Luz was getting dangerous and if she didn't learn, she would kill someone or herself. And with Camila being a single, working mother, it was hard for her to bring up Luz by herself - she also needed a break. This seemed very much like a win-win situation
Some ppl are antagonizing Camila so much, it has become frustrating at this point. Camila was so laid back the entire episode, she appreciates Luz's antiques and quirks, she loved her so much and she even reacted well after finding out that she has been living with an imposter the entire time. Throughout the episode, it was quite evident that Camila felt like she pushed Luz too hard after "Luz" decided to throw her things out, and finding out that her daughter chose to stay in "hell" became an affirmation that somehow validated that feeling. People tend to undermine the responsibility and the weight of becoming a parent, and it shows.
Yes, I can actually see Camila's hurt. She knows barely anything about the Boiling Isles. She knows it's the "Demon Realm". It's pretty likely that her heart went for a reaction like "My daughter would rather go to Hell than stay with me, what did I do?".
Yes, it’s apparent that people look at relationships like these and side with the child because that’s the only perspective they know. They don’t know what it’s like to be a parent and having to make those tough decisions.
@@LoveAndSnapple Definitely. Me and my wife being adults and watching this show, and thinking about having kids no less, our gut reactions trend towards "Oh man Camilla has it rough with this kind gremlin" rather than hating on Camilla. I heard the Fandom's opinion first, but after just the Luz hologram scene it was clear they were wrong about her. This is a mom way in over her head with a kid on hard mode, not an abusive mom. Being a bit aged certainly changes how one views the situation...but also shows how well Camilla has been written.
I’m here for the parent appreciation comments… I’m honestly amazed how anyone could see Camilla as a bad mom. Let alone a significant portion of the fandom! She was trying her hardest to be supportive and loving, wanting what’s best for Luz. No parent is perfect, and they’ll make mistakes that hurt, but the important thing is their attitude. Are they coming from a place of love and care, even if they don’t necessarily have a good solution? Camilla just radiates nothing but concern for her daughter’s happiness and at times even tries to suppress her fear/worry to make Luz feel better. I think there are just teenagers projecting a little, not understanding the parent’s side, making unfair criticisms.
Camila was actually worried "Luz" wasn't creative anymore. I bet Vee didn't talk about Azura, that she didn't write her own fantasy stories, she didn't make small handcraft stuff, she didn't watch anime or, if she did any of those, she didn't do it with as much passion. I'm sure that, as those details appeared, alarm bells rang in Camila's mind, because that wasn't her hija and that possibility was too weird and scary. She said so herself: she's trying to hold herself together but is scared. She was scared that her child was not herself anymore and now that her child is trapped in a unknown dimension, when, given the unknown, anything could happen to Luz and her mother couldn't be there.
*⚠MAJOR SPOILERS FOR S3!!!⚠* This hits even harder knowing that Camilla is not only trying her best for Luz but her late husband, too. Lest we forget that she was heavily peer pressured into forcing Luz to leave and even retrieved her stuff, including the book said late husband gave to Luz before passing away. She loved basically everything her daughter did and adored how creative and expressive she was bc at one point, Camilla was just like her. She really does only want the best for her only daughter. Edit/Addition: Also, let's not forget how she stayed up late, on work and school nights, to figure out ways to properly take care of Luz's friends. Not to mention how she was open to helping all of them, maybe without Luz even asking her to. Camilla is a 10. No but. Just a ten. Out of 10. She's great.
Season 3 spoilers She also ended up watching the video of Luz saying she was going to stay in the human realm then when she went to say it stopped her AND went to help her and her friends
I can’t believe people seriously think she is abusive or toxic, literally this is one of the most healthy realistic feeling and looking moms ever, specially in the eyes of a teen like Luz. It’s so sweet seeing how she has all this trust in her daughter and can even relate to her at some degrees, not only that but in the new special we can really see how good of a mom she is, one of the best writings I have seen
My mom hasn’t watched the Owl House before and all she knows is that it has gay characters in it. She watched this episode with me and when Luz was talking to Camilla through the car headlight she said “It’s to early for me to be crying over some show.” SHE WAS LITERALLY ABOUT TO CRY 😭
My mom watched the grom episode then the second to last episode before the s2 final and one more, she kept mentioning that they're gay,.......... that was about it she was in her phone the whole time wouldn't even listen to me explaining the plot 😐, she likes Gravity Falls and Adventure Time I don't have the heart to tell her about them cause she'll mildly dislike them but.
I could have never thought of Camilla as Abusive, I’ve seen what abuse can look like and do. Luz shows the telltale sign of a loving and caring mother, signs I don’t get to see in a lot of the people I’m called to help. Camilla has a pretty good set of priorities: 1. Survive (kinda a standard) 2. Keep family safe. 3. Keep family sane.

The reasons why people interpret Camila as abusive: 1.) They took the first episode's moral to heart, when it's the best example right next to the second episode that while lovable, Luz can be extremely disruptive and dangerous to those around her when she takes things to far. 2.) Projection. 3.) Stereotyping based upon Camelia being a Latina mom.
Racism? Yeah.......with all due respect that's a little far fetched and extreme, buddy. Especially for a cartoon character. Why are people these days so quick to jump to that with no proof? It does nothing but dilute the meaning of a very serious word and causes people to not take it seriously. Trust me, I know. I said what I said. And I agree with everything else in your comment. But again, racism is no laughing matter and throwing the word around willy-nilly like it's nothing and without thinking it through isn't doing real victims of actual racism any favors. @@izzieb.2926 ??? I'm literally just stating it as *one of* the reasons, it's very common for audiences to assume Latina mothers are abusive or damaging, and it's especially prevalent with darker-skinned women. People made assumptions based upon the way Camelia was presented, even though from epsidoe one she's been established as a caring and wonderful mom. People are so used to the "abusive Latina mother" trope that they just assumed it applied to Camelia. While not overtly racist, what it tacitly implies is that POC parents cannot have healthy relationships with their children. (This is the same reason people jumped to assuming Luz's dad is dead, or he and Camellia had a sour divorce despite there being plenty of more complicated explanations and none of that being implied.)
@@izzieb.2926 It's not like black and brown parents get.portrayed as abusive and.or neglectful parents all too often in media or anything. That neeeevvvvveeeerrrrr happens.
@@ithinkflutterawesome6511 'abusive Latina mother trope'? Really never seen or heard of it much in real life or media for it to qualify as a 'trope'. Actually, I take that back. ONCE. I saw it ONCE. And even then it wasn't as much about the fact that she was Latina than it was that she literally ran a murderous drug cartel😆. Most Latina moms I've seen in the media weren't straight up abusive. Strict, yes. Annoying (to the kid)? Yes. Religious? Sometimes. Has unrealistically high expectations for her kid? Every now and then. A spitfire who's wrath you should fear if you dare to cross her? HELL YES😅 But any stereotypical representation I've seen of Latina mothers were them literally just being my mom with an accent😂 My mom was strict on me growing up and would go to great lengths to get her point across. One time, when me and my younger brother wouldn't stop fighting, she tied our legs together three-legged-race style and made us walk the trail behind our apartment and back and didn't untie us until we worked together to finish our chores. Needless to say, we did our best to behave ourselves from that point on. Whenever we started to fight, my mom would give us 'the look' and say "Y'all better find a way to get along or I'm going to get the scarf" (she used a scarf to tie us so we wouldn't get hurt as much if we struggled and tripped). She never used a flip-flop, but she did on occasion give us a few swats on the hand with one of those little wooden shims you can get at Lowes if the transgression was bad enough (mainly used when we lied to her. At first the punishment was hot sauce, but then it backfired when I developed a taste for spicy stuff and started drinking it out of the bottle 🤣). She's amazing and made me the person I am today. But back to the subject. The tropes you speak of never say or suggest that POC parents can't have a good relationship with their kids. In fact, media seems to do this more or less realistically (as far as the numbers of 'good' portrayal vs 'bad' portrayal goes at least). Some parents do, and some parents don't. This is actually incorporated in all races, not just POC's. Sure, there are stereotypes incorporated into a lot of the 'bad' POC parental relationships, but the main reason these stereotypes exist is because it has unfortunately happened enough in real life to make it become a stereotype. It's one of the many harsh realities of the world we live in. Yes, I agree that stereotypes can be harmful and that using them to generalize an entire group of people IS racist. But there are times when whether a certain stereotype is racist is kind of dependent on the context or the situation. And it doesn't change the fact that using the word racist/ism in this context does indeed water down the meaning. Think about it. Like you said, it COULD BE the reason, but what is the likelihood of it actually being the case that warrants it being put on your list? Because I guarantee that finding someone who genuinely believes Camila is abusive mainly because of her race and a so-called racial stereotype is like finding a dime in a swimming pool full of quarters. The size of the pool is completely up to you because it's always going to be extremely rare. So it's kind of ridiculous to assume something like that and to use the r-word in relation to something that 1, isn't really that big of a deal in the whole scheme of things, and 2, bears no evidence whatsoever to support the claim being made and has a tremendous likelihood of not being the case anyway. So yes, racist/ism is a very strong word that everyone should be mindful of using and it's a severe thing to assume/accuse anyone of being over trivial things such as this (ESPECIALLY when we're talking about camila. Of all characters, there's no way anyone would think she was abusive just because she's Latina. Any sane person who's seen the pilot knows this. In fact, I'm willing to bet that most of the people who called her abusive actively speak against racism. Seriously, find and check their social media😄 I've seen this kind of thing many times before, and it's not unlikely for it to be the case here). Like you said, they're likely just projecting their feelings about their own parents or got way into the first episode and saw Camila as the bad guy. Referring to the points I made above, it's way more likely that someone is just a toxic fan that likes to hate on characters for no reason because they've got nothing better to do with their lives than it being because they're racial stereotyping. It should also be noted that if someone is emotionally unstable and often feels anything along the lines of "No one likes me, I don't belong anywhere, I just want to be someone" etc., it's not uncommon for them to identify with and latch on to characters like Luz, nor is it uncommon for them to take that a step further and initially hate any character that even remotely gets in the protagonist's way. People like this see themselves in Luz and don't like the idea of anyone holding her back in any way, so they decide they don't like any character that does until there's some sort of redemption arc. I'm not a licensed psychiatrist, that's just how I see and interpret it. And as far as Luz's dad goes, tbh I'm not sure why you included that in your points about racial stereotyping. Luz's dad is gone. There's not a lot of options to pick from for an explanation as to what happened to him or why he's not around. There's either one of the two 'go-to' explanations, that he's dead or he and Camila divorced, or that he simply disappeared, which could tie into the first two. The only other option I could think of is that he's in prison, but that doesn't seem likely given the fact that neither Camila or Luz alluded to anything like that, and I don't think Camila is the type of mom who would keep something like that from her daughter. Dead, divorced, missing (while possibly being dead or divorced), or prison. Those are really the only options we have. There's nothing race-based about it. People would be making those assumptions regardless of what race he or camila is. Sorry for the rant. Once again, I have no hard feelings towards you. I just wanted to share my point of view while maybe giving you something to think about. I wish you nothing but the best 😊
What I like is how despite being saddened by Luz chosing to stay on the boiling isles, she was mad at herself, and how she felt she had wronged Luz by sending her to that "reality check" camp even with good intentions. And honestly if Camilla had ever met Amity's Mom, lets just say Amity's Mom wouldn't make it out alive, and if that were the case, nothing of value would be lost.
At this point it wouldn't be a shock if they opt to move to the Boiling Isles at the end of it all. Clearly the place is dangerous but better for Luz mentally.....and I mean.....she's directly responsible for a ton of world ending threats being resolved. Plus she's got a Titan as a best friend. No better place to start over really, if that would be good for Camilla too.
@@clayxros576 True. And I'm pretty sure Camilla would baby King almost as much if not more so than Luz did at the beginning of the show. And maybe Camilla, Eda and Lillyth would all be besties.

I disagree with "she's showing her daughter tough love". Tough love is usually abusive and it's usually used as a way to excuse abuse, like a parent giving you significantly less food cause they've noticed you gained weight. I do agree that her love is very much that immigrant parent love which ties into the "I love you and I want you to fit in because people like us have a hard time fitting in here". Like from my experience and from what I've seen and read it's important for immigrant parents to see their child having friends and just seeing signs that they'rebeingn accepted. After all, they moved to another country to have better quality of life and it's sad to see that your child isn't thriving in the environment YOU moved them to. I also love your point on people saying Camila is abusive also stems from racism. Like yeahhhhh.
exactly, Odalia doesn't get a pass for accepting Amity is a lesbian because Odalia still tries to deny Amity her identity by trying to control who she is with. It's not enough to accept one part of someones identity

Vee's rescue was such a stressful situation. Camilla playing along with Luz's "game" wasn't really her in denial, she just knows her daughter so much to create wild and imaginative scenarios to spice things up! She's so so great, and she knows what Luz needs and exactly what she wants, but that doesn't mean she can't feel helpless, too. The moment she was confronted with the fact that her daughter had secretly run away and (for all she knew) found an imposter to go in her place? That's like. World breaking. Shattering. The fact that she was able to keep it in for so long and keep her calm and kindness was so admirable, and even when she let it out she was being the kindest she could be in the situation. AND SHE'S A SINGLE MOTHER???!! Camilla best mom, no contestera, hands down.
A parent can only do their best. The "worst" thing she did was send her to the camp but she wanted her daughter to live a stable life (I'm sure most children of immigrants can agree). She always let Luz explore her creative side and embraced who she was, but she knew Luz wasn't fitting in with society. I like her because she's realistic, no parent will be perfect but what shows in a good parent is their unwavering love for their child.

yep, better also remember that Luz behaviour...was not good, no selfrespecting principal/teacher will have let get away with a slap on the wrist, she has bring to school fireworks and dangerous animals; if the principal had not found a solution all the others parents will have sue the school for endangering their kids. Plus we know of the camp just the name and everybody in the fandom had immediately thought it was a place where they do conversion therapy and prone to abuse...instead the basilisk not only enjoyed the experience but she has make friends and they don't look very mainstream. It's probable that everyone had jumped the gun and instead, bad advertising apart, it's a camp with professional conselour that away from the normal day to day stress try to make the kids heal
Honestly, if I would be in Camila's place I would have done the same. Luz's behaviour is concerning... bringing snakes to school, being absent minded throughout the day and basically living inside a fantasy world she made up in her head. I struggle with maladaptive daydreaming and believe me it's not fun when your bubble pops and you realise you have never been living your life. Now I found a good balance between my creativity and social life, not sacrificing one for the other. Of course there is more to it than this and it's not something that can be just 'fixed' but I don't want to get into detail now. So point is, Camilla isn't abusive and she is just trying to do her best for her daughter. Of course, her choice of sending her to the camp wasn't really a good idea, but what the hell is she supposed to do? She isn't trying to make Luz dislike the things she likes, she is just trying to expand her world.
The camp wasn’t even that bad tho. Taught kids stuff you don’t learn in school about about how to survive. Vee also made friends. The other kids were still creative

And Dana says she hates happy endings and there has been tons of evidence that the, always goes home or always finds a way to go between trope isn't gonna happen. In the end she may find a way back but is forced to stay in the demon realm because of something involving the collector. Or if happy endings are truly an issue with Dana they may all lose and Luz just dies in the end.
Not to mention it’s heavily implied she was a safe person for Luz to talk about her once imaginary friends w/ because she knew how to describe them and seeing as she only had imaginary is one of the reasons why she wanted to help Luz get out there and find some friends who weren’t fake And we know how Luz is about being judged she hates it and has a fear of it. That’s what made her feel so ashamed. But Camilla didn’t make her feel that way and made her feel like she could be open to her about these things
Fandoms can be extremely unforgiving, especially towards supporting roles, for flaws or perceived slights. If she had a larger role in the show she'd be an extremely beloved character but as it is, she was only defined in relation to Luz, and since she stood against her desire, albeit out of love and fear, and the audience being kids that stil have alot of growing to do, some took it as sign of abuse. It doesn't help that Camillas way of "antagonism" is very relatable to the average kid, perhaps jerking unpleasant memories of their own parents, even if they too acted lovingly.
I’m pretty sure people only thought she was abusive because she wanted to send Luz to a camp in the first episode, which, one, Luz put her classmates in actual danger, so it was kinda justified, and two, the new s3 episode literally proves that Camila was peer pressured into sending her daughter there. She didn’t even WANT to do it.
It only sounded so bad because Luz thought this would suppress her creativity and passions. She doubted she would find anyone else like her, it's reasonable since she hasn't found friends like her in school. It's understandable she didn't want to be sent away to live in an unfamiliar place for the summer, but like Camila believed, it could've been good for her.
After the special she deserves mother of the century. She took a whole group of clearly traumatized teens under her roof, stayed up researching dietary needs and adequate replacements, accepted luz for coming out and gave amity a hug as well, the entire dream sequence, AND went back to the demon realm to fight belos with luz! AAAAAAAAA!!!
Who the hell said she’s abusive? Camilla is literally one of the sweetest fictional mothers ever. She’s on par with like, Sally Jackson. Has she made mistakes? Yes. Is she a bad mother? Absolutely not. She cares so much about Luz and letting her daughter be the best version of herself. Camilla is far from abusive or toxic
I feel like people are just projecting their own abusive moms onto Camila and also the camp. I'd gladly go to a boring summer camp if it meant I could have Camila as a mom over my own, she's genuinely caring and loving of Luz's interests, even if she doesn't understand them
@Skylar Thompson Except there are abusive parental figures in TOH that are not downplayed at all. Odalia Blight and Emperor Belos ring a bell? It’s not like there’s no representation for genuinely awful parents in this show, some people just choose to be upset at anything that’s not 100% their own experience.
@@rainpooper7088 Yeah idk why those people exist, if they want to see that then they’re looking at the wrong show or wrong characters, project your feelings of ab*sive parents onto idk, Odalia or Belos instead, (I don’t like judging people for projecting onto fictional characters but Camila a ain’t bad person or an ab*ser in any way unless in an AU or that persons AU but still.)
@@SuperSwordman1 I think it may have been the only option. If someone in high school set snakes on the school (who bit people), set spiders on people (yikes), and who brought explosives to school, they would have been expelled no question. I think this was a 'get-your-creativity-to-a-safer-level' option so she wouldn't be out of school.
@@SuperSwordman1 "I would side with that kind of stance more if we saw her use any other option. Cause to the fandom, it looks like the camp was plan A" Camp is better than expulsion. Or prison. Which is what would happen if an actual kid put other students in actual danger.
coming back to this after 'thanks to them', and camila is honestly one of the best cartoon mothers i've seen...ever. there's little details, like how [SPOILERS] she was bullied similarly to luz when she was in high school, and doesn't want luz to end up like her. she has books on loving and parenting your LGBTQ+ child, and falls asleep with coupons on her bed because she's planning meals for the now six very traumatized children living under her roof, has practically adopted vee, caring for her like one of her own, and wears a rainbow heart pin in every single scene after luz comes out to her. she's adaptable and wants what's best for her child, but is also willing to take a step back and let her child decide what's best. does she make mistakes? hell yes! she's human. but she's willing to learn from those mistakes and recalculate her decisions. she's honestly such a good mother.
The ppl that think she's abusive just show how spoiled they are-- She is no where near abusive, this is simply what's called being human-- she isn't perfect, but it's obvious she's trying and just wants her daughter to be safe and happy, she wants the best for her-- sure she made a mistake on how to handle it, but it in no way harmed luz-- especially when we see it's obvious by the other kids that camp likey wasn't even that restricting or bad, at most it'd be just like school but more focused on helping kids have more control of themselves. So either way, luz would have been fine-- so her mistake didn't even endanger her in the first place, it was someone making on decision based on what they thought was best because they didn't know other ways to help. She's a good mother, anyone would be lucky to have a mother like that-- My own mom is like her, I used to think she was being abusive just because she just didn't know how to help or made some mistakes, but in reality she just needed more help on the best way to go about the situation. Making mistakes isn't abusive, not being perfect isn't abusive-- it's just apart of being human--
I don't think they're spoiled, I think they're abused kids who haven't learned the difference between hurt and abuse yet, and are thus interpreting unintentional hurt as abuse.
@@Nakia11798 Def not. Actual abused kids would not bat an eye at this. The lack of a sneer or indifference on the mother's face would be odd to an actually abused child.
Considering how setting of a firework without a permit or the proper safety knowledge is a crime in it self, Camila is probably one of the best parents out there, and despite the principle pushing Camila into sending Luz to the camp, he’s pretty cool too for not calling the cops and getting her arrested or even expelling her.
I think the first part of season three reflects this so much better. She tried to do what was best for Luz. She was forced to assimilate and had to with the passing of Manny. But she never meant to diminish Luz’s potential. I’m so grateful for the first part of season three. I can’t wait to see more of her!
You know if the demon realm never existed. The camp would be great for luz to express her creativity in a safer way and allow her to be friends with like minded people. Luz isn’t aware on how she harms people around her.
Camilla is such a great mom, of course she will get angry, she will make mistakes, she feels guilty after seeing how Luz actually felt about camp, she had to do something about Luz, since she brought other people in danger (snakes, fireworks) she still loves her for her creativity, she didn’t want to really have “Luz” / Vee to throw away stuff that Luz used to love when younger. (Maybe that could be a sign that she’s not really ready to see her daughter grow up) but anyways, she really cares about her daughter, it was really off putting to see people see her as abusive. The whole Grom thing was more the fact of Luz feeling guilty for lying to her and all, she clearly loves her mom back but people took the Grom thing as Camilla being abusive which sucks.
people who say camilla is abusive/manipulative never saw someone like that , they just throw theses words left and right , camilla is a great mother I would have loved to have her as mine people often forget that being a parent also means you have to set boundaries , she just wants for luz to make friends and to tone down a bit her thing , because there's a lot of people that are intimidated by people like luz , if I met luz when I was the same age as her I wouldn't dare talk to her because I was really socially awkward and extremely extrovert people terrified me
I grew up with an abusive birthgiver (more on the verbal, emotional and mental side of abuse rather than physical, but still abuse), I don't see how in the world anyone could think Camila is abusive. She's such a great mother and everything I wish my birthgiver would've been
It's so silly that people say she's abusive when she's literally so far from it. Even the camp wasn't her idea, she just hated that Luz was going through or was going to go through the same things she did as a child. I saw a comment saying that they called her abusive because she showed tough love, but it was just plain and simple love.
I think people who call her abusive are projecting their own strained relationships with their moms onto her. Using the fact she wanted her to go to "be a normal person camp" and making her promise to give up the place she loves and found a girlfriend in is just fuel for those projections.
But how is the claim that these are problems Camila has not still accurate? Sounds like you're just trying to deflect the blame. Defend her doing those things.
Camila loves Luz creativity, she just wanted her to have friends, like any parent would want. Also, Luz took a bunch of snakes to school, she clearly needed a stop
SuperSwordman1 babe there's a difference between being abusive and just simply not being a perfect parent. She is raising a hyperactive kid by herself and I'm sure the only reason she accepted that camp as an option was because the principal told her to either get her to be normal or she would be expelled. She also probably doesn't want her one and only daughter to be the outcast forever. Everyone needs friends, we are pack animals. If her behavior continued on that path she was on, she would scare off any potential friends forever. Besides, maybe Camila realized that by sending her to a camp of so-called "weirdos", they wouldn't be so easy to scare off and she could actually make friends with similar interests while also learning life skills and how to not put her peers in physical and emotional danger.
YumyumYuri Not even to mention the firework. That could have severely injured or killed someone. She even uses it in that same episode to subdue an enemy. She needed to learn what's too far for different locations. I love my snake to death, but I would never bring her somewhere where she wasn't supposed to be. Bringing her to school could have caused a panic resulting in my suspension or expulsion if someone got bit, taking her to a public park could get the cops called on me, bringing her to a professional environment like work could get me fired. There are social boundaries that those of us who love/have exotic pets need to learn. Not to mention being a responsible pet owner. For those snakes to lash out like they did, they had to have been scared and felt mortally threatened and trapped. Snakes don't just people out of nowhere. And for her to risk putting her pets into such a stressful situation just to have an acted out book report is just being a bad pet owner.
ANYONE would be lucky to have Camilla as their mother! I cried at the point of her saying she had such a strong girl and kept crying the rest of the episode... whoever thinks Camilla is abusive, they dont know what an abusive parent is and i will die on that hill!
….the scene where Luz almost throws away her azura book kinda hurts more now knowing from “thanks to them” that the book was originally owned by her father which he gave too luz
So glad that we got to learn about Mama Noceda's Sci-Fi obsession. Really puts into perspective: she reacts this was because she was wants Luz to have a better life than she did. And she knows better than anyone how difficult it can be.
People who claim that Camila is an abusive and toxic mom should consider themselves lucky to have probably never experienced an actual abusive household.
Coming here after watching the first part of season 3. Camila gives Eda a run for her money in the good parent department, taking in all the Witch teens and being endlessly supportive of Luz and the others. She has a binder full of notes (which I just realised is like Eda back in season 1 when she had a list of things to do for Luz and King) about their needs and tries to give little bits of home; she even once refers to herself as a 'Mother of six' and joins on the return trip to the Demon Realm. I can't wait to see how she gets along with Eda.
I never considered her an abusive parent. This show does a great job portraying how the school system and society treats creative and expressive children. I've been a victim of this, so this hits home and I never once blamed my parents. I will ALWAYS blame the school system.
@@Zegasus817 We clearly had different experiences. Because I’m Canadian and I lived it. My school system failed me and ALOT of kids that were “different” in fact they failed in every aspect to assist kids that where “different”.
So, we got to see her flashbacks of luz in s3, she wasn't even abit abusive or toxic She was a full fledged supporting loving mom! She was always delighted to see Luz being herself, because when i watched the episode, it showed Camila being nervous because the kids found her old Favorite book from 2008. It was a space themed adventure fiction book, and it was mentioned that she herself was bullied and had no friends in school. And Manny her husband was implied to be also supportive of Luz's personality . So Luz had two loving parents. Camila was just scared she was going to experience the same thing she had when she was younger, because they were the same, two fictional book loving nerds. And guess what, they both found love from someone who loves their dorkiness (Manny, and Amity)
The new episode just solidifies it all. (Thanks to them.) She still has discount price tags on some of the furniture she got, she got a bunk bed, she’s bought so much for them, she’s ready to drop everything, her whole life, everything, to go to the demon realm to go beat the shit out of Belos with a baseball bat. She respects them all, cares for them all, oh my god I just love her she’s so precious I wish there were more people like her.
Everyone will go out of their way demonise mothers for not being perfect, but then dads ike Alador get endless praise and sympathy for the bare minimum and it's frustrating
as someone who is quite literally currently living in a mentally abusive household, people who say camila is abusive really pisses me off camila shows how much she loves, misses, and cares for luz especially in the newest episode
Camila genuinely reminds me of my own mom. Sweet, understanding, accepts my creativity and wanted to help extend further to be an artist. She doesn't understand the means of art (She's a math and physics teacher) but still wants to help me grow cause I was passionate of digital art. I heavily relate to both Luz and Camila's family situation to a T. Which is why I love and respect her 💞💞😍
my mom is an amazing mother, i have adhd and autism so it is hard to raise me but she is such a good mother. she helps me through everything and makes sure im ok. camila reminds me of my own mom in the sense that if my mom and camila were switched the only thing that would change is id miss my real mom. sorry if this didnt make sense but the point im trying to make is this. my mom is amazing and camila is just as amazing if not more
Also in the season 3 episode we have, we see Camila has always supported Luz in her weirdness and defended her whenever adults were criticizing or insulting her. She’s an amazing mom and I hope I can be like her if I ever have a child :]
Camila never mistreated Luz. She was just trying to look out for her daughter like any good parent would do. And rightfully so. Luz tried to blow up fireworks and let a bunch of snakes loose AT HER SCHOOL OF ALL PLACES! She needed be lectured after her antics got many people in serious danger. If Camila really was "ABUSIVE" she wouldn't have tried to lecture her about taking her creativity too far. Plus she enjoys Luz's goofiness.
@@davidwallgren7575 all she was really hoping for was for camp have Luz to be able to muster up the courage to make REAL friends and learn how to separate fantasy from reality, but never throwing away her creativity
The funny part is that now with Season 3 now out we know EXACTLY why Camila wanted Luz to go to camp with the nightmare/flashback scene, and how upon seeing Luz’s decision to stay in the Human realm cause she felt bad Camila basically vetoed it by saying she’s coming along with them, and also completely trusting her practically adopted child in Vee with keeping up appearances over in the Human Realm
And after the first episode of season 3 out, we see Camila's point of view a lot more too. She was bullied for being weird too and just wants her daughter to not have to go through what she did :
I think this show does really good to set up immediately that Camila's mistakes are mistakes that were placed onto her in her youth. Its more obvious in the newest episodes but you can see it from the beginning- "Inside the box" is the phrase on the summer camp pamphlet. Luz doesn't fit into the box, let that be because she's not white or has adhd (the sitting still and focusing thing hits hard personally), and the new episodes show that Camila didn't either! Its the mistakes of a parent who went through the same push of conformity and slowly realizing that it wasn't healthy for her daughter- or even herself. Its not abusive or manipulative at all. Its just a mistake. A mistake that she has realized and is actively working to fix.
Now with the recent episode, we could see why she acted the way she does to Luz, she cares so much about her and did not want her to experience the thing that happen to Camila in the past
People now days just confuse discipline with abuse, that’s pretty much it. If a parent gets angry or goes against their child’s wishes, then they are instantly the abusive villain. But Parents aren’t meant to be our friends who agree and support us on everything we do, sure it’s nice when they are, but that’s a double edge sword that could get us hurt in the end cuz they didn’t protect us from our lack of knowledge and matureness. They are there to raise us and guide us on what they know it’s best for us cuz they have a more mature knowledge of the world and how it works. Of course, this doesn’t mean they are always right, but we still need to respect and value their guidance, even if they sometimes have to put the foot down and raise their voices towards us. Raising kids isn’t easy and sometimes they are just really stressed and scared that if we take a different path than the one they are teaching us, we’ll get hurt. And sometimes we are just straight up being dumb and irrational so they have to take care of that. I ofc acknowledge the fact that there are actual abusive parents out there, but those are not the ones I’m talking about here. The definition of “abusive parent” has been greatly transgressed to the point where now all parents are abusive unless they are “cool” about everything, which ends up with raising toxic, rotten, misbehaved, entitled, arrogant kids. (Man… reading this I realize I sound like a parent myself, and I’m not… I just value my parents hard work to raise who I am right now)
I feel like anyone told their parents that they’re in a demon realm They would react like this, they would be upset, and they would want you to come home
Another thing Is, instead of being mad at luz and yelling for her leaving earth to go to boiling isles, she's sad and misses her, but doesn't blame her. She understands how she feels and really tries to be there for her! At 2:28 we get to see how she is optimistic about the situation! At 3:29 proves my point
As someone who grew up with an abusive mother, it hurts to see people try to call Camila of all people, abusive. She never belittled Luz daughter, she never tried to treat her like property, she's certainly not manipulative. All her actions come from a place of genuine care and concern. She's just a mother who cares. She wants her daughter to succeed in life. She's supportive and kind.
I never thought she was abusive, but I did used to think she wanted Luz to change. Now i realize that she really just wished society would change for her daughter. She was only doing what she had to.
we literally have an abusive mother in the blight house. How can one think the one who loves her child and tries to do her best for her is the abusive one?
Tbh every loving mom would want her child to stay with her, living far away and only be able to contact thru messages and phone calls hurts enough for a loving mother. Luz literally might not be able to turn back to her human world and wifi in the Boiling Isles is nothing like wifi in the human world, it's sensible that Camila freaked out and wanted Luz to stay with her. I feel sad for Luz that she had to make such a choice, but i understand Camila's emotion when she had such little time to talk to her daughter as well. Not to mention at least this woman save Vee and let Vee live at her place tho:3
I feel like people need to remember that we're watching a story from mostly all sides, and specifically with Luz. I also think people forget to kind of put on a mother's/parents perspective on things.
I haven't seen the show yet, but from what I can see, she's not abusive at all. Sometimes a parent just has to put their foot down. Clearly anyone who thinks she's abusive is/was pampered as a child and got away with doing anything they wanted.
When I saw the click bait that she's an abusive mother, I was ready to watch whatever stupid points the video would make and explain just how wrong it was. So many spoiled children that think they're smart "spotting" abuse parental relationships. She's an amazing mother. And I wish I had one that kind, Brave, Accepting, and etcetera ~ So I appreciate this video.
People who say that she’s abusive are so so wrong. My mom is so similar to Camila that all of the scenes she was part of hit 20x harder. My mom has been nothing but supportive my whole life, being okay with my sexuality and gender identity, trying to understand me and my sister’s views while being able to keep her own opinion, making sure that we all can express ourselves. She is the most amazing person I know and, by extension, so is Camila.
I started crying at “who knew I had such a strong girl living under my roof this whole time” and did not stop crying for the rest of the episode. Camila is SUCH a good person

Never once did I think she was being manipulative or abusive, I don’t understand why people think that
Me neither, it makes no sense
@@SuperSwordman1 Honestly, that promise doesn’t see like an abuse.
It's just a promise that one mother who loves his daughter or son, and who didn't see her/him in a lot of time, would say it.
@@clayxros576 YES! Exactly! I loved that so much!
I don't know about being gaslit, but Luz was lucky that the principal only suggested the camp. The fireworks alone could have gotten her arrested.
I don't think people understand that Luz is lucky to not be in juvie with the snakes alone
She’s not abusive, or toxic, she’s just trying her best, being a parent is difficult, of course she can’t be perfect, but, she!s so sweet, and luz she did miss her mom, but also wanted to be a witch, and she actually matured, it’s hard, but she’s still a great mom
Edit: sum of the stuff I said in here changed because of ep 1 of S3, this comment was made a year ago I remember u
Absolutely! It's so sad that people think she's abusive just because she wanted to take Luz to summer camp
Not just a parent, a single parent, Luz’ father is obviously not living with her or her mom and that can be really difficult for a parent
@@sunsetpicture-o6q YES! Exactly, but either way we are gonna probably know more about her dad in future episodes
@@anidleteen That summer camp was a G-Rated conversion camp. There is a big difference between wanting her child to focus or limit her imagination and trying to suppress it. Seriously, WHY is the summer camp given such a pass by you and so many other people in the fandom?
@@SuperSwordman1 well first of all we don't know how bad the camp would have been - we see Vee went and she had a good time and made good friends, she seems happy and open, and the only reason she got rid of Luz's stuff was to distance herself from the real Luz most likely out of guilt
Second, it was an honest mistake by Camila.
@@tarniabook3076 When you added "My daughter would rather go to Hell than stay with me, what did I do?" you changed my perspective so much lol
Yes, it’s apparent that people look at relationships like these and side with the child because that’s the only perspective they know. They don’t know what it’s like to be a parent and having to make those tough decisions.
@@LoveAndSnapple
Definitely.
Yeah, absolutely
*⚠MAJOR SPOILERS FOR S3!!!⚠*
This hits even harder knowing that Camilla is not only trying her best for Luz but her late husband, too.
Edit/Addition:
Also, let's not forget how she stayed up late, on work and school nights, to figure out ways to properly take care of Luz's friends. Not to mention how she was open to helping all of them, maybe without Luz even asking her to.

a quote from my mother. "The last thing any parent wants is for their kid to have a hard life". luz's mom knows that while being different is good, it also means your life is going to be hard. people aren't as friendly as we want them to be and any parent who has been bullied would never want their child to suffer like them for being different

@@bouncycomix True. I'm just happy she got a lot of character growth, and even at the beginning was never shown to be malicious as she genuinely loved Luz, and admired her creativity, but didn't want said creativity to result in her getting in trouble.

honestly they prolly saw it like this
amity parents:there bad
hunters backstory:it's bad
Camilla:she's good....BUT
people would rather talk about good things that can be bad instead of just bad

The reasons why people interpret Camila as abusive:
1.) They took the first episode's moral to heart, when it's the best example right next to the second episode that while lovable, Luz can be extremely disruptive and dangerous to those around her when she takes things to far.
I want to be clear that I'm not mad at you and there is no ill intent in this reply. I just thought I should bring something that has really been bothering me as of late to your attention. I hope you have a great day🤗
@@izzieb.2926 ???
@@izzieb.2926
It's not like black and brown parents get.portrayed as abusive and.or neglectful parents all too often in media or anything. That neeeevvvvveeeerrrrr happens.
@@ithinkflutterawesome6511
You're completely right though.

@@anidleteen In fact, if Amity's Mom dies by the end, Amity should look at her and say "And nothing of value was lost.".
At this point it wouldn't be a shock if they opt to move to the Boiling Isles at the end of it all.

She's so so great, and she knows what Luz needs and exactly what she wants, but that doesn't mean she can't feel helpless, too. The moment she was confronted with the fact that her daughter had secretly run away and (for all she knew) found an imposter to go in her place? That's like. World breaking. Shattering. A parent can only do their best. The "worst" thing she did was send her to the camp but she wanted her daughter to live a stable life (I'm sure most children of immigrants can agree). yep, better also remember that Luz behaviour...was not good, no selfrespecting principal/teacher will have let get away with a slap on the wrist, she has bring to school fireworks and dangerous animals; if the principal had not found a solution all the others parents will have sue the school for endangering their kids.
After Thanks to Them, I’m convinced that Camila is the best fictional mom ever.
Sally Jackson: No shame losing to her!
Hera: Ask my Disney counterpart!

Not to mention it’s heavily implied she was a safe person for Luz to talk about her once imaginary friends w/ because she knew how to describe them and seeing as she only had imaginary is one of the reasons why she wanted to help Luz get out there and find some friends who weren’t fake
And we know how Luz is about being judged she hates it and has a fear of it.
Except there are abusive parental figures in TOH that are not downplayed at all. Odalia Blight and Emperor Belos ring a bell? It’s not like there’s no representation for genuinely awful parents in this show, some people just choose to be upset at anything that’s not 100% their own experience.
@@rainpooper7088 Yeah idk why those people exist, if they want to see that then they’re looking at the wrong show or wrong characters, project your feelings of ab*sive parents onto idk, Odalia or Belos instead,
(I don’t like judging people for projecting onto fictional characters but Camila a ain’t bad person or an ab*ser in any way unless in an AU or that persons AU but still.)
I've literally been defending her left and right. Like Luz was a danger to those around her many times, and the camp was Camillas last option.
I would side with that kind of stance more if we saw her use any other option. Cause to the fandom, it looks like the camp was plan A
@@SuperSwordman1 I think it may have been the only option. If someone in high school set snakes on the school (who bit people), set spiders on people (yikes), and who brought explosives to school, they would have been expelled no question. I think this was a 'get-your-creativity-to-a-safer-level' option so she wouldn't be out of school.
Have you ever heard of the troubled teen industry? It might be the last resort but that doesn’t make it a good one.
@@graycorlwell8830 explosives to school is realllly bad, if she did that irl, no joke would be labeled as terrorism
@@SuperSwordman1 "I would side with that kind of stance more if we saw her use any other option. Cause to the fandom, it looks like the camp was plan A"
Camp is better than expulsion. Or prison. Which is what would happen if an actual kid put other students in actual danger.
Luz won the lottery. She got an amazing birth mother and an amazing adopted mother. Can wait for them to meet
coming back to this after 'thanks to them', and camila is honestly one of the best cartoon mothers i've seen...ever. there's little details, like how [SPOILERS] she was bullied similarly to luz when she was in high school, and doesn't want luz to end up like her. she has books on loving and parenting your LGBTQ+ child, and falls asleep with coupons on her bed because she's planning meals for the now six very traumatized children living under her roof, has practically adopted vee, caring for her like one of her own, and wears a rainbow heart pin in every single scene after luz comes out to her. she's adaptable and wants what's best for her child, but is also willing to take a step back and let her child decide what's best. does she make mistakes? hell yes! she's human. but she's willing to learn from those mistakes and recalculate her decisions. she's honestly such a good mother.
Just noticed a parallel.
Luz; “Hello Little fairy.”
Fairy: “GIVE ME YOUR SKIN!”
Vee: “Hello fellow human. Skin sure is weird.”
The ppl that think she's abusive just show how spoiled they are--
She is no where near abusive, this is simply what's called being human-- she isn't perfect, but it's obvious she's trying and just wants her daughter to be safe and happy, she wants the best for her-- sure she made a mistake on how to handle it, but it in no way harmed luz-- especially when we see it's obvious by the other kids that camp likey wasn't even that restricting or bad, at most it'd be just like school but more focused on helping kids have more control of themselves.
So either way, luz would have been fine-- so her mistake didn't even endanger her in the first place, it was someone making on decision based on what they thought was best because they didn't know other ways to help.
She's a good mother, anyone would be lucky to have a mother like that--
My own mom is like her, I used to think she was being abusive just because she just didn't know how to help or made some mistakes, but in reality she just needed more help on the best way to go about the situation.
This gets even better after the new season, because like... we properly see Camila's side of things. And she's god-tier.
☝️This
I think the first part of season three reflects this so much better.
Yep, we see how Vee acts after being at camp and she's happy and open with friends
If Luz didn't open the door
Philip would never become.Belos
Camilla is such a great mom, of course she will get angry, she will make mistakes, she feels guilty after seeing how Luz actually felt about camp, she had to do something about Luz, since she brought other people in danger (snakes, fireworks) she still loves her for her creativity, she didn’t want to really have “Luz” / Vee to throw away stuff that Luz used to love when younger. (Maybe that could be a sign that she’s not really ready to see her daughter grow up) but anyways, she really cares about her daughter, it was really off putting to see people see her as abusive. The whole Grom thing was more the fact of Luz feeling guilty for lying to her and all, she clearly loves her mom back but people took the Grom thing as Camilla being abusive which sucks.
people who say camilla is abusive/manipulative never saw someone like that , they just throw theses words left and right , camilla is a great mother I would have loved to have her as mine
people often forget that being a parent also means you have to set boundaries , she just wants for luz to make friends and to tone down a bit her thing , because there's a lot of people that are intimidated by people like luz , if I met luz when I was the same age as her I wouldn't dare talk to her because I was really socially awkward and extremely extrovert people terrified me
Exactly! And we literally have the Blight Parents to look at abusive parents, like, they're so awful, how can anyone think Camila is like them?
Camilla is actively encouraging and almost demanding her daughter give you her support systems she made --to make Camilla have not her
Camila loves Luz creativity, she just wanted her to have friends, like any parent would want.
Eda...likes Camila!
season 3 literally reveals that shes been masking as a neurodivergent woman the entire time
EXACTLY and it makes so much sense
After the new episode, it's VERY clear that Camila is an amazing mother
I never considered her an abusive parent. This show does a great job portraying how the school system and society treats creative and expressive children. I've been a victim of this, so this hits home and I never once blamed my parents. I will ALWAYS blame the school system.

So, we got to see her flashbacks of luz in s3, she wasn't even abit abusive or toxic
She was a full fledged supporting loving mom!
Got recommended this after watching the latest episode, which without spoiling, proves even more that Camila isn't abusive.
Everyone will go out of their way demonise mothers for not being perfect, but then dads ike Alador get endless praise and sympathy for the bare minimum and it's frustrating
as someone who is quite literally currently living in a mentally abusive household, people who say camila is abusive really pisses me off
camila shows how much she loves, misses, and cares for luz especially in the newest episode
Which is why I love and respect her 💞💞😍
my mom is an amazing mother, i have adhd and autism so it is hard to raise me but she is such a good mother. she helps me through everything and makes sure im ok. camila reminds me of my own mom in the sense that if my mom and camila were switched the only thing that would change is id miss my real mom. sorry if this didnt make sense but the point im trying to make is this.
my mom is amazing and camila is just as amazing if not more
or in a simplier way to say it: camila is a good mother
Yes exactly!
@@anidleteen Not to mention Camila didn't seem gleeful nor excited about the camp idea.
@@davidwallgren7575 all she was really hoping for was for camp have Luz to be able to muster up the courage to make REAL friends and learn how to separate fantasy from reality, but never throwing away her creativity
The newest episode proves even more that Camila isn't an abusive mother.
I had no idea people were saying this precious, loving, adorable mother was abusive. They need to apologize at once.
Absolutely
The funny part is that now with Season 3 now out we know EXACTLY why Camila wanted Luz to go to camp with the nightmare/flashback scene, and how upon seeing Luz’s decision to stay in the Human realm cause she felt bad Camila basically vetoed it by saying she’s coming along with them, and also completely trusting her practically adopted child in Vee with keeping up appearances over in the Human Realm
If thanks to them didn't convince you she's a good parent, nothing will.
The way she tries to help makes more sense because of thanks to them because of camila's past of bullying. she tried to help her daughter
I would NEVER think that Camila is abusive. Now Belos on the other hand...

I'm glad the last episode seemed to address those criticisms, nobody can say she's not a supportive mother anymore
Absolutely!
(Man… reading this I realize I sound like a parent myself, and I’m not… I just value my parents hard work to raise who I am right now)
I feel like anyone told their parents that they’re in a demon realm
They would react like this, they would be upset, and they would want you to come home
This has aged like fine wine. Camila is amazing.
we literally have an abusive mother in the blight house.
This video 100% needs an update once season 3 ends, there’s only been one episode and yet EVERYONE knows so much more bout camila
1:43 "I know this stuff makes school different" has a new meaning after watching the latest episode.
after ‘thanks to them’ this aged AMAZINGLY
And I wish I had one that kind, Brave, Accepting, and etcetera ~
So I appreciate this video.
