I started with Rush in the late 70s Their pre Moving Pis years are imprinted in my brain Try The Fountain of Lamneth One of my top 10 all time You should like it Rock on man
on my top 5 Rush albums. It never got much attention and the record companies and mainstream critics hated it for whatever reason. Great story of Alex playing it for Ace Frehley in there van before it came out and Alex said he didnt get it and wasnt impressed! Then came 2112!!!
Rush, music for thinking people. Neil's later lyrics became more listener friendly. The early stuff is a lot to take in. Neil's lyrics throughout his time with Rush is top-notch, though. As a whole, you are experiencing one, if not the tightest band, every. I've been a fan since 1981. The three men of Willowdale are my three favorite people. Plus John Rutsey. And all the people that have supported them while on tour. And can't forget to thank the families. They had to deal with them away a lot of the early years, and for 40+ years. Love your reactions, my Rush brother. Happy New Year to my Rush brothers and sisters. #rushfamily ❤❤❤
Your reactions was freaking awesome love your channel no one one the planet will ever come close to rush every song is a journey happy new year my friend
SO YEAH DAME, THIS IS WHAT YOU WOULD CALL ANGRYYYYY RUSH, THIS WAS MY FAVORITE ALBUM OF THEIR'S ( CARESS OF STEEL ) THIS WAS BEFORE THEY EVENNN GOT A CONTRACT, ( 2112 ) LAUNCHED THEM INTO THEIR OWN CHOICES AND FREEDOM WHICH IS WHAT THEY REALLY WANTED! :) ENJOYYYY THIS INSANE PROG ROCK TRIO DAME AND OF COURSE R.I.P. :( TO THE PROFESSOR OF PERCUSSION, HE'S IN DRUMMING PARADISE NOW! :)
I always enjoyed Caress of Steel. Far different than their previous 2 albums. It seemed to be a transition album, preparing us for and leading us into 2112. I put this on when welding or fabricating in my work shop.
And, to think this was, at the time, a “flop”, and the album that nearly broke them into shattered, scattered pieces, never to be recovered?!? To me, it’s one of the baddest, coolest, maddest progressive songs/albums, ever, that would lay the firm groundwork for what was to come. And, what came next (21 fucking 12) was the springboard to the very future of progressive metal, when they, themselves, said “fuck it”, if we’re going down, we’re going down doing what we believe in & love(.) 🤘🏼 Thank you, Dame! I love your love of this band that has most single-handedly molded my musical journey……
That’s quite a piece to react to. Unbelievable that was 1975 their second album with Neil third as a band. I’m not the biggest Lord of the Rings fan, actually not at all, but if I’m not mistaken, the lyrics were loosely based on a part of that story. They were very ambitious at this point and stayed so throughout their career. Easily one of their best pieces.🤘🖖✌️🎸🎤🥁🎸
His name is pronounced with a hard g. His actual name is Gary, but his mom, a Jewish woman from Poland pronounced it, Geddy. And it stuck with his friends.
This was the 3rd Rush album and it was released about 18 months after the first one. On its release date, Geddy and Al were 22 and Neil had just turned 23. The real analogy story of Rush vs. the music industry is 2112 with record industry/execs being the Priests of Syrinx!
Bytor is a character from a song on the previous album. The song is Bytor and the Snowdog which I would recommend. Bytor was a baddy in the previous song and he is hero in this one. I would also suggest The Fountain of Lamneth which is also off the same album as The Necromancer. It is also excellent I am the same age as the guys in Rush and sci-fi was HUGE back in the 70's especially Lord of the Rings. It was almost a right of passage to read it. Two other songs in the same vein I will also recommend are Cygnus Book one and Cygnus Book 2 (Hemispheres) Love your reactions young man. ❤ Cheers
😂😂😂😂 Since we're all old as Rush members ourselves, we ALL read Lord of The Rings. Award Winning Artist Ralph Bakshi made the first animated Lord of The Rings & The Hobbit Movies we saw as kids. 😂😂😂 We also said if they ever make a Thor Movie, they should pay Led Zep an arm & a leg to use 'The Immigrant Song' & The Who's TOMMY Movie should be made in to a Bway Show. 🤯 ALL CAME TRUE! 🥰🐰
this is the album (Caress of Steel) that separates the wheat from the chaff...even purported Rush fans are divided on this...this song is kinda "Bytor II, Wrath of Snowdog"
If you like to read, I'd suggest starting with the first book in the Lord Of The Rings Saga, "The Hobbit". Then on to the Trilogy, 1. The Fellowship Of The Ring. 2. The Two Towers. 3. The Return Of The King. This story is the gold standard of fantasy. Read the first chapter of The Hobbit, and tell me you don't want to find out what happens next. J.R.R. Tolkien, Literary Genius...
the best rush album for me. the necromancer and the fountain of lamneth. period. in the middle section enter the shadow, is the best jam in his entire discography. nobody wins at that.
Back around 8384 I had my own apartment I was just out of high school" had an 800 watt stereo with four massive speakers" after the song was over, I could hear the neighbor banging on the door" ( back then it was turntable only) He had a picture in his hand, claiming it fell off the wall and broke😂😂😂 I was thinking damn I only had it up on 3 1/2
🤔 Necromancer is like 2112, The Cygnus Books, Natural Science ... All multi-part songs. Again, like a Book, you have chapters. 🤗 Having a favorite part of a Rush song changes thru the decades. Reading a book as an adult is different from reading that same book as a kid, or married or have kids. 🥰 It's still a favorite book you pick up every once in awhile, and glean something different each time. 😁 That's Rush in bottle! 😂🐰
Hahahaha nice!!! This band is sick! Now you wanna check out Natural Science and hear them at their time signature best!!! Freakin insane track an the drumming is mesmerizing
The best song on the album imo is also the longest, you gotta give a listen to The Fountain of Lamneth it's the entire B side and the first of their three sidelong epics along with 2112 and Cygnus X-1 book ll.
😂 Shout Out to 🐕 By-tor for coming through! 😒 By-Tor and 🐩 The Snow Dog got beef. 😉 You may want to check out the song 'By-Tor & The Snow Dog'. It tells the Saga of their Epic Battle. 😌 Folks still taking sides 4 decades later. #TeamByTor 🐶🥰🐰
Bytor and the snowdog was their inside joke. That was what the road manager called called some dogs. "Rush's road manager Howard Ungerleider came up with the title at a party. There were two dogs at the party, one a German shepherd and the other a tiny white nervous dog. Howard used to call the shepherd By-Tor because anyone that walked into the house was bitten. The other dog was a snow-dog (white). So from that night on Howard called the pair of dogs "By-Tor and the Snow Dog." The dogs belonged to Rush's manager."
@@seanpaula8924 😉 Some think it's the 🐶 dog in Videos. It's the question I would ask if I have the privilege to attend a 'My F'ing Life's discussion with Geddy. 🤔 Tickets in NYC would've been incredibly expensive. 🙋🏿♀️ But always wanted to ask because 😒 we didn't have Google to answer everything. 🤣 It was either in the Dictionary, Encyclopedia or you learned about it on 60Minutes for your Current Events Homework. 😳 Do they even teach "Current Events" anymore was what made me call it a day working for CUNY 😄 and put in for early Retirement in 2020. 🤷🏿♀️ That & the Pandemic. 🤭😁 DOH'! 🥰🐰
Dame, please, please watch The Lord of The Rings!! It is SO EPIC!! Rush, as well as bands like Led Zeppelin, have based several of their songs on J.R.R. Tolkein's "Rings" books and there is good reason why those songs are SO BADASS!! You will Love Peter Jackson's TLOTR!! It's awesome!
🙋🏿♀️ I say do the LoTR Movies Rush & the fans grew up with. 😯 We NEVER thought there would EVER be a REAL Movie, so we cherished the Ralph Bakshi Animated Movies 'The Hobbit' & 'LoTR'. 😄 He also did the Animated Award Winning Movie, 'Heavy Metal', which featured the classic song 'Lunatic Fringe'! 🥰🐰
Watch lord of the lings ,monumental!! Epic the scale of those 3 movies so good I couldn't watch a movie for a while after watching all 3 very well done!!! Oh here's a suggestion do all 3 parts of fear by rush ,Enemy within, weapon
I always thought that led Zeppelin was the first section and then it kind of morphed into Pink Floyd 😅 so if you ever wondered if a baby was born to led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd what it would sound like just listen to The Necromancer 😅
Great song to react to! I love Geddys voice (always) but for sure at this point in their career. Song just showcases their pure genius So fn good! i enjoyed the listen with ya
I started with Rush in the late 70s Their pre Moving Pis years are imprinted in my brain Try The Fountain of Lamneth One of my top 10 all time You should like it Rock on man
The Fountain was my intro to Rush ... have loved them since 1978
Rock on! You ARE going all out with this song...
Those 3 dudes...gotta be from outer space and way, way, way ahead of their time.
I love Neil's narration at the beginning ... one of the few times you get to hear him speak
on my top 5 Rush albums. It never got much attention and the record companies and mainstream critics hated it for whatever reason. Great story of Alex playing it for Ace Frehley in there van before it came out and Alex said he didnt get it and wasnt impressed! Then came 2112!!!
Rush didn't watch it either. They read it." Let that sink in
Next please Do Natural Science Studio Version with lyrics , 🔥 🔥 Fire 🔥

Some of Alex’s best stuff
Love this album ❤
Back in the day this song was the measuring stick to determine whether or not someone was a true Rush fan not.😂
And, to think this was, at the time, a “flop”, and the album that nearly broke them into shattered, scattered pieces, never to be recovered?!?

The instrumental section immediately after “…they bowed defeated” was more Black Sabbath than Black Sabbath 🤟
😏 Riiiight?!? 🤭😁🥰🐰
Please do the “Fountain of Lamneth”

They were from Willowdale Ontario Canada
"3 travelers, men of Willowdale..."
And followed the "river Don" (Don River which follows the Don Valley Parkway into downtown Toronto Canada.
The artwork for the album covers pretty dope as well

The last part of the song Return of the Prince was released as a single.

Am I first? HOLY TRIUMVIRATE in Hades!🤘🖖✌️🎸🎤🥁🎸
At the TOBES of Hades!
👹🔥🐩
👍👍🎵😃 A chilling story,. In a song!
To think these guys werent much older than you.

Opps it to early 3 parts of fear 1,enemy within, 2,the weapon, 3,witch hunt
Is a part 4 to fear as well freeze
Lord of the rings is awesome. Trust me, in no time you'll be fully invested in the movie. I'm certain you'll enjoy it.
Check out
BASTILE DAY.
You never know.
The narration is a little cheesy but otherwise a great song! ❤
When they say three travelers from Riverdale, Riverdale is a suburb of Toronto, and Neil Piert narrates.
It's Willowdale, not Riverdale
I must have gotten Rivendell and Willowdale confused.
Great song to react to! I love Geddys voice (always) but for sure at this point in their career. Song just showcases their pure genius
So fn good! i enjoyed the listen with ya
