I don't own them, unfortunaly, but listened to them quite a few times. Either you love them or not, but I also like it bass response, very neutral and detailed. Soundstage and imaging is hard to beat, imo, almost unbelievable when experienced for the first time. I think the amp is a must as it is specifically tuned. Caveats are the cord inputs and the one I listened to had damaged metal mesh, as that seems easily prone to scratches and dents. Thank you for the review.
I'm coming from HiFi setup and generally you probably know that is hard to get a decent bass response, most of the time I found headphones bass with too much presence and impact so much to not agree for example with the Harman headphones target curve. But I understand that is about personal taste, for me 800S has a decent refined bass with the right accuracy, midrange is probably the best that I never heard and Soundstage and imaging is crazy..see u next weekend with a special video regarding crossfeed and than I will be back in the turntable world with my first phonostage review.thx for comment ✌🏾
The one that you need to compare to the 800s is the Hifiman Arya stealth. It's considered to be the best headphone under 2000$ and it is known for its wide and very tall soundstage. You must try it. I appreciate your reviews. Good luck bro.
Yes i saw that the Arya got positive reviews, but as soon i don't test it with my ears i don't believe it:) anyway Hifiman is doing great products, i have already the HE6SE and the HE400se and hope to test also the Arya stealth in the future.thx for comment.
@@MadAudiofficial Yes, seems that there are a lot of hifiman shills out there. Don't trust its build quality also, made in china. HD800s for an older headphone, is built like a tank.
The Sennheiser hdv820 with the hd800s sounds the same on my shiit hel 2 and the hel 2 only cost 200bucks and the hel 2 sounds a little better while playing music on it with the hd800s

I bought hd800s for gaming mostly but I listen to music all day on them, what dac or amp or both do you recommend I run for the absolute best audio I can get out of the hd800s
@Mad Audio, do you think I could make the HD800s good enough for an Edm lover like myself? I do game also. I have read a lot of posts saying with a good amp and some eq setting they will sound great still. Coming from a DT 990 Pro. Would appreciate any input. An example of songs I like; Adventure club: Kite strangler, Skrillex: in for the kill. Thanks 😊 Note: the only reason is because I have an opportunity to get them for 600USD, plus I’m new to this haha
I love the hd800. Great detail alone and the with this amp there is an added touch of warmth that helps calm down the upper end.
Thanks great vid

Looking forward to that! 👌
Hi, does the ZennHeiser HDV 820 sound better than the RME 2 for music movies and gaming?
@@criptocolorlightstech5292 With HD 800s yes!

It would be good to know how much bass is added to the HD800S when pairing with the HDV820. Not sure if someone ever measured that.

How about if Compare with Wooaudio WA3

Can it be used on a ps5?🙏🏻
Nice review, what is the cheapest dac/amp that can move the hd800s without problem?
Thank u, take a look of the Hip-Dac2 that i review some weeks ago, beautiful affordable product with the right warm sound signature for the 800s!
@@MadAudiofficial
Thank you for the quick response! currently have the FiiO K3, do you think the hip-dac2 will be an improvement?
@@felix6815 sorry unfortunately i never test the FiiO K3!

The SPL Phonitor XE will take out all the best from them!👌🏾
@@MadAudiofficial I’ll go for that one thank you for the recommendation 🙏
Is the spl a dac and amp all in one? Or you will need a dac
Any headphone with better imaging in this price range? Only imaging, not soundstage, for competitive gaming shooters
Why you want to spend so much money for gaming?
@@MadAudiofficial why not? I'm an audiophile and a hardcore competitive gamer. Maybe a headphone can solve both needs
@@MadAudiofficial to be competitive for hearing footsteps
beyerdynamics got really good imaging
HD800S sound amazing with tubes. In my case the Feliks Audio Euforia and Denafrips Ares II DAC.
Beautiful setup, never test both of them but hope to do it in future 👍🏽
Pair this with a dac with a bass modifer, makes it a whole lot better cause just with the hdv 820 it feels lacking in power

Wich Headphone amp do you have?
Currently a cheap $25 amp so I would be investing in an upgrade there as well
Would u recommend hdv820 or Fiio K9 pro ESS for hd820?
Never tested any Fiio products unfortunatly!
I am using the HD800s for Csgo. Gaming only. What amp do you recommend for me?
Ifi Hip-Dac2 👍🏽
