If I found out my sibling was cheating and lying to their spouse and had been for their whole relationship, I would tell the other person because I'm a regular human being who thinks people deserve to be treated well in their relationships. The fluttering and pearl clutching about women and/or female characters being ‘angry’ or ‘unlikeable’ (flawed) is definitely a real thing. I guess I didn’t realize quite how American it was from my POV in the inside, but you’re probably right. I remember a romance author talking about how she got a bunch of negative reviews on goodreads because her recovering alcoholic heroine took a little while to warm up to the hero and a certain type of romance reader (IYKYK probably lol) declared that meant she was impossible to care about. Books that feature romance but end with the couple deciding to go their separate ways sound more like chick lit or new adult to me.
Ao3 can be a downright goldmine of fantastic writing, you just need to develop your inner bookmarking skill and smell of cringe. This “and everyone clapped” is some wattpad shit
Yes, Romance as a genre needs a happily ever after. If there isn't one, it's not a Romance. It can be a great story, but it wouldn't be a Romance. THIS is not a good happily ever after. And not a good Romance.
Does it really though? Plenty of real life romances end with people breaking up and I don't see why it's required to be different just because it's fictional.
@@joyc.e.7511 It's about the genre, though. Romance, as a genre, is aspirational. Romance readers *expect* the happy ending, because that's why they're reading it. If you don't want that, you'll read a different genre.

@@susannahlewis8464EXACTLY, this book is basically someone trying to tell you the plot of the manga Oyasumi Punpun except it IS KNOWN AS DEPRESSING DRAMA AND A CHARACTER STUDY, I honestly don't know why Books are being mislabeled so hard in America nowadays.
i have also had a shite time with adhd meds. took me forever to find one that worked for me and even then it completely evaporates my appetite when i take it
as an american i just feel the need to clarify that people are angry and cynical all the time and no one actually cares
The amount of times she mentions how “American the book is” is actually quite annoying.
I agree. Cynicism and apathy are like the two most common emotions. Lol.

It’s a bit. She’s being self-deprecating. It’s not supposed to be taken seriously lmao
Always love the crap books videos ❤
Same 😏
the way I was just rewatching your videos and then noticed this upload!! thank you thank you there is nothing better to watch while puzzling lol
Omg it was so boring I DNF'd it thankyou for taking one for the team
"because I'm doing all the Christian books... not the bible" made me fukin CHOKE bahahhaha
Alizee, how ya been? Make sure you can dine out on this, but also take care of yourself.
This novel should have ended with Olive single and happy while Amy is stuck knowing Dane has and will keep cheating on her but unable to leave him, and Ethan pining for the one who got away.
i was looking for book recs a few hours ago and stumbled upon this one. for some reason i didn't actually look into it? and now this video is on the top of my recs 😂
if you told me the whole book was a parody of bad romance novels, I'd believe it, because who in the year of our lord 2024 is actually, seriously, and unironically ending their novel with an "and everyone clapped" scene???
I've never been this early to anything in my life, not even my own birth
EL other works is just two volume Poldark fanfic set in 2019. And like with 50 shades she still doesn't get that when you write an AU some things won't work anymore and won't make sense. And some stuff is even more hilarious considering its happening in England and she's a Brit. She should know how things work
I haven’t even watched it yet (oh I will!) but feel the need to send you love from Iceland, you brighten my day and make me pine less for England 🙏 💕
Thank you! blessi þig 🌟
Always look forward to your uploads
*edit* to say, your skin looks LUSH, if you ever feel like dropping your skin routine I would be grateful 😅
I bought this book on audible a while ago and I was really excited about the concept, by the time I finished it I wanted my money back. I’ll never understand why the author made the love interest so insufferable
“Life is just constantly getting shit in your eye then you die” i was literally rubbing something out of my eyes when you said that
Smeyer's "The Host" had so much promise but bc she wrote it it fell so short
Interesting to see the new editing coming from a long time viewer. Nothing wrong with it. Just used to your more laid back type videos with less jump cuts n such. Great video ❤
"There is fanfiction written better than Coleen Hoover" that's a looooooow bar to cross... Fanfics are way better than that.
AO3 is indeed the place for smut, and for almost for anything really. It's the site that's been holding my satiety together.
It's literally: and then everybody clapped .
Moment
No way there was actually an "everyone clapped" moment 🤦♀️
😆
I read it because it was really popular on TikTok and hated it I thought it might get better but it didn’t the love interest sure as hell didn’t deserve her at the end of the book I was so upset during this book I called my sister being like it I told you your husband hit on me you would believe me right she’s like I don’t have a husband but yes I’d believe you. I had to explain to her what happened in this book to make me so upset
I've began drinking from large water bottles thanks to you and now I need to pee all the time
Love this vid Alizee and cant wait for the salt burn breakdown vid u asked abt on ur insta story a while back❤
This book was on my suggested reading lists all of last year, and I’d only seen good reviews and people saying it was great. Finally read it after waiting for the ebook hold for weeks and was very disappointed and confused because I absolutely fucking hated it. So glad to know that other people shared those feelings!
Thanks
not her being fired LMAO
If they don't get together it's love story/drama/ tragedy/women's fiction. Genre romance requires happily ever after or happily for now
I'd pay money to see your spicy fanfiction rec list.
I love my Vyvanse but definitely see how it wouldn't work for people. I'm also only on 10 mg, the thought of going on 30 is horrifying 😭
I had to do the gram scale thing with Vyvanse too 😂. It felt like I was doing something illegal every time even though my doctor 100% suggested it.
Omg I can't wait for more twilight nonsense from Alizee
I know there’s less comedy in it but I’d love to see a video of you breaking down a book you really enjoyed
For your struggles turning these on ❤
😆😆
5:45 This is the absolute funniest shit ive heard all February
engagement
fighting queen
this book was horrendous for so many reasons but i absolutely despised the latina "'representation". olive and her family were just stereotypes and what made it worse is that (i'm like 90% sure of this) neither christina nor lauren are latinas
QUEEN I MISSED YOU
I’m weaning off caffeine at the moment and that intro really hit the spot
Alizee, if you need a break, take a break. We'll be here when you get back. We want you happy and healthy. You deserve it.
It could have been a cute story if at they end the twins both told the brothers to eff off and got closer as sisters again. Ethan sounds like a twit and doesn’t even seem like her.
I read the back cover on an influencer’s story and my first thought was “who the fuck would publish that”
Not me watching this to hear a book I kinda liked be torn apart 🤭
18:58 how do I not remember Ethan being such a dick, I was wrong, 0 stars
@JennaThePanda I was gonna ask... 😂
Fellow *inattentive* ADHD diagnosed ppl: I see a naturopathic dr and she recommended Wellbutrin which does double duty of anti-anxiety and tackling the inattentive form as opposed to hyperactive- that diagnosis is treated with Adderal or Ritolin. If you take any of the former with an inattentive diagnosis, it will spike your anxiety!!! I’ve been on Wellbutrin for just over five months and so far so good!
Omg I also used Vyvanse- it was the loss of appetite that was too much for me. Could only manage energy bars and a piece of fruit
