He didn't say "always positive" this time lol
Evil Prof Skye Era has began
This is the closest to a negative review that we can get! Good spirit!
Can’t stop closing and starting the video over and over again; with a fade from the mask to the professors face, it’s magical!!
Can’t wait to see what this mask is about, just gonna close and start the video a few more times… of a lot =P
Kay, eye, dubbel hockey sticks!
So much stupidity with this RUclips situation =P the word kill is a word that should be understood and not shunned
Liked the album! Was surprised! Hated the Paul song and the new new song and sometimes it got a bit repetitive and such. Some song I loved! Came in wit was the best song I think!!
I listened to this song wile I did my room getting reorganised, grate album for doing stuff. I would HATE listen to this high! Don’t get why people would listen to this wile smoking weed.
I recently stopped smoking, have been real hard, but glad I’m doing this!!
prof Skye has that dawg in him
Solid rev. as always! Diff genre here but, curious if you’ve passed an ear (or maybe 2) over the French group: Feu! Chatterton? Would be great to hear your thoughts on Palais D’argile.
When I listen to this new Destroy Lonely album and then listen to Whole Lotta Red, Carti sounds "weirder" and more surprising, and that's after having listened to the album multiple times for the past 2+ years. I just can't help but be bored by ILCK after 2 or 3 songs, whereas when I revisit WLR, I still find new little sounds and moments that capture my attention in a way that Lonely simply fails to. I don't think it helps that while the first 2 songs on ILCK are stronger moments on the album, the first 4 songs are musically very similar and all just blend together into a 15 minute sound sludge.
Same. In a way, listening to the clones help me appreciate WLR even more
It’s because Lone can’t switch a flow to save his life.
Skye! We made like the same exact thumb nail haha. Great video as always. (Great minds think alike)
A lot of the instrumentals on this album remind me of Deftones. Like the title track, how u feel, and safety interlude all have a heavy Deftones influence. I'm sure there's more but those ones stood out to me. I do know he sampled Deftones on a song off of No Stylist. I think it's a cool sound to use and is fairly unique compared to his peers that use more "rage" WLR/Filthy inspired instrumentals. I think this project is better than a lot of reviewers are giving it credit for. I think if he cut the track list to the best 10 songs it would be getting better reception.
he samples team sleep, which was Chino Moreno's band before deftones. they're sampled on safety (personal favourite track), and were also supposed to be sampled on moment of silence but it got removed on the full release.
The album would certainly be better if it was under 45 minutes.
I think it’s ok to not be always positive. Especially when there’s not that many great albums coming out. You can’t only review Billy Woods and Jessie Ware…. But I think you should review the new Overmono as Good Lies is fantastic!
I would say that the amount of rock genres lone pulls from is unprecedented when it comes to rappers. Yachty only tools with psychedelic rock and carti only pulls from black/death metal. Lone manages to pull from grunge, nu metal, post punk and pop punk, all whilst incorporating the pluggnb style he’s most familiar with. I even hear 2000s ringtone/snap rap in the swinging beat of Chris Paul and new new seems like a crisper version of his earlier songs. Fantano also has an inherent bias against lone because opium fans leaked his divorce papers for rating x and nostylist so low. You can say what you want about the opium fan base but you can’t deny their passion haha
Numb
Carti and black metal? What?
He the look killa 🤯🤯🤯
Please please PLEASE review the new animal collective remaster of "spirit they've gone" its so darkly magical and its themes of childhood ending are crushing i think youd have a wonderful perspective
I suppose you didn’t like the new Jack Harlow album? Would love to hear your thoughts on it
The same way Carti is very much inspired by metal and punk bands like Slayer, Black Flag... Destroy Lonely recently said in an interview his favourite rock band is The Cure and I think you can hear their respective aspects in their music. This album is very much bloated and doesn't stand up to the quality of No Stylist mainly because its not diverse enough and has quite a few filler tracks. The best songs like How u Feel?, If looks could kill, Fly Sht, Which One, Moment of Silence and Safety interlude are great but he would have benefitted from shortening the tracklist and introducing the style of his leaked song "Suicide Mission" which fully leaves behind the tropes of Hip Hop towards a Post-Punk / Synth-Pop type sound. Check out that song, Suicide Mission I think you would like it quite a lot and also the lyrics are pretty beautiful for what is to be expected from Destroy Lonely with a reference to Pink Floyd.
One song doesn’t drown out 30 bad ones
I’m glad you brought up Suicide Mission as I think that’s one of his best songs and most directly displays his supposed influences in music, but like the comment above me says, that one song doesn’t drown out the monotony and bloat this album is filled with.
I just hit the bell icon no cap pushin p
Have you heard Nowaah the Flood? Real good rap I recently found out about. I think I already recommended her, but again Nappy Nina! =]
Even as a lone fan, this release didn't do it for me and ended up being forgettable
I swear to Dog! Great review! =]
Skye, you say "kills" at 7:41 just fyi!!
I SWEAR TO DOG 🗣🗣🗣🗣
AVAA, Prof
My favorite bit of dialogue from Look Killa; Lone: "Nice sweater, where'd you get it?" Girl: "Oh- I made it myself." Lone: "Really? That makes me like you even more now."
Yipes
The mask is so visible now, didn’t like this one(I didn’t listen to it)
Ai had gotten a little out of hand I reckon.
toby :)
1:51 you should
Die Lit is the best vibe rap album
Destroy Lonely too vibey for me and vocally lacking. Ken Carson from same Opium label voice is better imo. But ill admit Destroy Lonely has some grunge production taste unique to his niche sound.
sunna wunna
I made a similar review about how Whole Lotta Red was a masterpiece, on my chan.
Because of TikTok
the feeling/vibe that Playboi Carti or Detroy Lonely give off that you older guys are confused about and dont understand is to us what to you guys was "Gangsta" or "Cool" now its "Lit"...maybe i guess😂
personally i enjoyed a lot of songs on this, nice vibes; if it was shorter it would be a very great album to be quite honest. there's nothing standout bad in this album in my opinion (except for promo, that song is awful), but some of the songs are just very unnecessary for such a long album.
That wha makes a bad album. A collection of bad idea
9:00 Can't really relate man
third!
Day 119 of Asking you to Review Achilles Come Down by Gang of Youth
Also great thumbnail I'd click on the video twice if just could
you should’ve done it with your son. i think the conflicting opinions would give the video more depth. but a good watch nonetheless
Destroy Lonely sucks, review the new NBA Youngboy album instead
Do the young people even like Destroy Lonely? lol
Definitely not all of em
We do, just went to his show in the Netherlands where easily 25k people were so can only imagine his fanbase in the USA
