Sun King Rising is the alter-ego of John Blangero. John's prodigious musical gifts were revealed when he started taking piano lessons at the age of five in his hometown of New Castle, Pennsylvania. Apprenticeships in a series of area bands culminated in the formation of his own original and popular Prog Rock band called Harlequin.
His soulful new album, “Delta Tales” makes the oddness of that pairing seem almost normal. Neither his music nor his work as a renowned genetic scientist, are strange at all, it turns out. Call it “The Genetics of Soul.”
With his rock, soul, and gospel influences coming to the fore in Delta Tales, Sun King Rising has forged a unique and powerful sound and lyrical vision unlike any other.
