  • G'day G'day,
    A bit of a look around me mate Keith's camper trailer. A 2019 Austrack Simpson X. It's all kitted out pretty bloody nicely. It's the same base trailer as ours, so it was very interesting to see up close again after a couple of years since I seen it. Keith has a keen eye for detail and doesn't do things willie nillie. a very clean and practical setup indeed. Enjoy.

      It's pretty good isn't it. Ours works for us and we took some time sorting it out. But Keith's is quite good and a few things he's done we're already having made. Those bags on the back of the stone guard is first thing we're getting.

    I do love those little austrack campers but unfortunately we need something that sleeps more than two. I’m liking the new shirt you are wearing too.

      Yeah they are brilliant. With the right rooftop you could sleep 4 in a lower room. But yeah generally for two only I reckon.

    Enjoyed video, Tim have you a Inverter in your SimpsonX, I purchased a Starlink which I will use for remote comms but it will need to be powered up?

      Yeah... I think you need at least a 300 watt inverter to run the ol starlink

    After a few years with your darche 270 (gen2) awning - would you recommend it for the price point- ie canvas and hinge points holding up, canvas bag/zip issues etc?

    • @TimRumble
      @TimRumble  4 месяца назад +1

      Yeah prob a tough one to answer. My honest opinion is the gen2 hinges are better designed. As far as the setup and bag size zips. All good on those areas. I actually store extra poles in the bag also.
      The canvas however... I've had to spray multiple times with silicone sealant along seems and stitching, seem tape is starteing to fail and... It ends up leaking in a few spots. Also a bit of sag, which I think is probably unavoidable. All in all it's held up well with alot of use most of the time. I think weekend campers it's great. Don't get me wrong it's served us well. However may have invested in something with thicker canvas when living out of it. Prob a 7/10.
      Just check the area coverage too. Some 270s don't have as much cover as this one. We also have a batwing on the vehicle and it has less coverage. Hope this helps.
