Man, I played the ever-loving hell out of this game on my Vita! It's what got me into Vanillaware's games, and while I really liked Dragon's Crown and Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir, Muramasa is still my favorite of them. I loved the two main characters, and getting all three endings for each of them was as fun as it was challenging. Plus, it's also got some awesome boss fights (including one with a literal thunder-thighs goddess), hot kitsune ladies, gorgeous environments, and probably the best-looking food in a game. God, now I want to go and replay it!
The music and visuals make this game super immersive to me. I discovered it right in the period I was a total nerd for feudal japan, and it just stucked in my mind as to what Japan actually looks like lol
I enjoyed my time with this game but it's a game that definitely burns you out long before you see 100% of the content it has to offer because of how much grinding is required. Some of the hardest challenges in the game are straight up impossible unless you have specific weapon and skill loadouts and even then it demands an absurd amount of cheesing and kiting enemies for ages to avoid being one shot to death. And it's not because the fights are particularly difficult on paper, its just that they throw SO MANY enemies at you that it becomes literally impossible to see what's happening and dodge accordingly and their health becomes so inflated that it takes minutes just a kill certain enemies while avoiding attacks. It's a fun game that could do with a re-release that VASTLY reduces the grind for a tighter experience and challenges that rely more on skill than on spamming the cheesiest abilities.
Did you play the Wii version or the Vita Version? I only know the Vita version which did have similar issues, but I didn't feel that annoyed by them (which could just be my memory blocking parts out).
Sounds like you are just bad at the game then. While it does have some difficult fights you should never have to cheese/spam, the fights don’t last too long, and you totally can beat the game without needing very specific swords, I never had that problem honestly. The game can feel perhaps a bit drawn out if going for 100% but not nearly as bad as you make it sound. Also for me it’s still one of my fav games ever. Even the 1 hp mode isn’t as hard as it sounds, it’s totally do-able.
This game was so dope on the vita, I completed both story modes and the sword list, AND the DLC. I really hope there's a ps4 release one day because everyone should play it. Love the video Matt!
One of my alltime favorite games. The arrestatie is beautiful at its best. The gameplay was somewhat repetitive but feels so snappy. This game is graved in my soul.
I bet I’ll be the first ever person to say this, but the DLC of the vita version is fantastic and some of the best content from vanillaware. Seriously can’t wait for vanillawares next game.
It's some of my favorite dlcs of all time. Great variety of characters, gameplay style, and stories. I love how its last story is completely different with how comedic it is compared to the rest of the game.
I played Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir last year, and started playing it again on Xtra Game Mode to level up all the characters to completion. However, I was seeing Muramasa on my radar for my Vita, so I went ahead and got the complete version with the DLC. I just started it, so the story is kinda meh right now, but the gameplay is super fun to me. I wish they could do a similar remaster like they did with Odin Sphere? From what I understand, they made the gameplay tighter and changed some mechanics for that remaster. It’d be cool to see this game for the Switch.
2024 I’m doing my first play through. Always wanted to play through it and I’m finally getting around to it. Damn this game is wicked, the skills mixed with the basic attacks and the blade switch attacks it’s amazing and obviously the art style, omg.
I once had a dream that the game got re released for the switch. I doubt it’ll ever happen but I’ll still occasionally play it from time to time due to the love I have for it
Thanks for this! I've seen artwork from this game here and there (and obviously dat Kongiku Statue) but never saw it in a store. I was very late to the Wii.
3:15 matt says the game is the 5th in the series, i cannot find any information online about any prequels to this game, and i know for a fact that all the other previous vanillaware games are not prequels to muramasa, where did he get this from?
Only problem I did had with this game is how you jump...I mean. Why not use "A" since it's only to talk npcs? Can it be both?? But I suppose the Vita version fixes that issue.
i fucking loved this game so much, i remember gamestop advertised wallscrolls if you preordered it, but i never got mine, but hey, game is amazing, Keisuke was my fave story
My favorite Wii game together with Tatsunoko vs Capcom. I even got a figure of the big titted fox chick Kongiku when I was in Japan (I'm not even into that figure stuff!), but man this game is just something ^^
I am kinda sad that this never came out on another console or even PC... I really want to see this game in beautiful high definition on a large screen, sadly the Wii version in still in crap resolution ;_;

this is what made me fall in love the vanillaware. i pop in my wii copy once a blue moon n clear a playthru
I ADORE this game. It’s fantastic, George Kamitani and Vanillaware can do no wrong.
Flash forward to 2020, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim comes out.
@@nikitas1841and is amazing

It'll be cool if they remake this
Love this game. One of my favorite Wii games.
Still one of my favorite games of all-time
Loved this game as a kid. Some of my favorite wii games were The Conduit and Conduit 2. Still pissed about that cliffhanger.
“Some day you feed on a tree frog...”

This game on Dolphin at 4K 60fps is incredible looking
Aw I was waiting for the pretty food.
Also thanks for reminding me that I still need to finish some dlc for this.
I can't express just how much I want this on PS4.
U can play it on ur pc or phone with an emulator

Bro I remember playing this game but i was on punishment 4 a month ON MY BIRTHDAY before i even got to play it XD
Oh man Muramasa was the first game i ever 100%ed and probably the last too, super awesome game

Man I love this game so much.
I'm playing through this right now, such a great game.
Not exactly a hidden gem, but 'Godfather: The Black Hand edition' has some really cool uses of the motion controls ;)
That game's actually pretty good nothing like beating people up with the Wii mote
@@kokotheclown2588 absolutely, my friend really enjoyed strangling random women on the streets... Regardless to say I've not heard from him in years 😳
@@ZenithfilmsUK also manhunt 2 nothing like pretending to stan somebody now that's entertainment lol
@@kokotheclown2588 totally, i went the extra mile and removed all the censorship on that one, the toilet kill is one of my favs lol

This game was so good.
Kisuke's first boss fight with the ninja......THAT MUSIC IS FUKING AWESOME
Love the new double intro
YES YES YES I LOVE MURAMASA YES

Marvelous is also the same company publishing/making Daemon x Machina.
I played this game day one and loved it. Heck I loved this game so much I bought a vita to have it on the go.
YEEEEEEEAH! I played the shit out of this game when it re-released on the Vita, truly a gem.
damn those woolies!!
Yyeees you came back with that video format, thats a great idea btw
7:22 good delivery on that lol
I beat this game in one day and if I get arthritis I know what I’m blaming
I don't know what you thought of it, but "Wario Land Shake It" is one of my favorite Wii titles
I played this shit so much
Thanks for this! I've seen artwork from this game here and there (and obviously dat Kongiku Statue) but never saw it in a store. I was very late to the Wii.
Can you do an episode of Wii Remember on Manhunt 2? That game is both awesome and meh at the same time. Perfect material for a video.

No relevant commentary. Just wanted to state that I love this game and it’s one of the reasons I bought a Wii to begin with
What other games are related to the story/lore? of Muramasa
Commenting for engagement.
The wii version also has a gamecube controller layout. Easily my favorite way to play it. Just sucks that the gc layout doesn't work on the wii u.
the fox sisters are hot so is the cat girl in the dlc
What the heck is you channel icon? (Also I agree)
I played and finished this game on the vita. It was fun.
I just found this game in my Wii
I see this on vita and I was thinking about getting it.
100% worth getting. Try and get the complete version if you can as the DLC is really good.
BaronRedWings I just ordered it and am getting it monday :D
Sweet :D Enjoy!
Damm, this game looks dope
I loved this game so much. Hope to see stuff like Little King's Story or de Blob soon!
8:47 Did I hear and SEE him take a stab at Wooly? lol
I hope Matt knows about/played Ghost Squad.
Pure jank, but isn't that the point?
I wouldn't really consider muramasa a wii game that people forgot about.
YAAASSS!!!! This game is so good!!!
Only problem I did had with this game is how you jump...I mean. Why not use "A" since it's only to talk npcs? Can it be both?? But I suppose the Vita version fixes that issue.
Muramasa Switch port when!?
not having a ps vita (like many people) i feel like vanillaware NEEDS to remake muramasa for ps4 (including dlc ofc)
The woolies 😂🤣
Wished he would've linked the video about the figures
The art/music reminds me of ogrebatlle 64
I remember seeing this on xplay, they probably rated it poorly.
N0 Mr. Mcmooseknuckles Vanillaware has more games than that. Princess Crown and Grand Knight History for starters
i fucking loved this game so much, i remember gamestop advertised wallscrolls if you preordered it, but i never got mine, but hey, game is amazing, Keisuke was my fave story

The fox sisters were *very hot* !
This game was a sequel??
Fuck i still have to beat this game. I got it on the Vita 4 years ago but still haven't beaten it
I am kinda sad that this never came out on another console or even PC... I really want to see this game in beautiful high definition on a large screen, sadly the Wii version in still in crap resolution ;_;
You can easily get the vita version and a VITA tv.
I haven't heard of the VITA tv, that looks neat, I should probably try and set it up if it can play the good version on a good setup! Thank Matt-chan
Ive been meaning to play this game for years, can anyone tell me whether the wii version or the vita version is better?
poor man kowry Vita. Higher resolution and bevy of extra content
Ludi cool, thanks!
I would buy the Vita version if you don't mind buying dlc for the extra playable characters.
damn man as good taste review it too
This game seriously needs a PC release
