I used the older T1 on many hundreds of gigs in the hot 100 degree F weather for 4 hours at a time and NEVER had any kind of failure.
Its sad that it seems theres an issue with the T4, I was planning on buying one.
Further, after my warranty was way way out on my Bose L1M2 pa system I hooked up to some bad power at a gig and fried every single piece of gear in the pa....the power stand the passive subs, the pole sections and the T1 mixer.
I contacted Bose and told them straight away that I was out of warranty and explained what happened. They sent me a complete new unit that instant and told me when it arrived to pack the old unit in the boxes and sent it back to them.
They charged me less than $400. total to replace the entire system and sent it to me the same day.....i was completely just blown away at that level of customer care.
I am sad to hear of your experience with them and wonder if things have changed with Bose for the worse because your experience sounds like the polar opposite of the one I had.

if you can, get your hands on the older T1 mixer and the L1 model 2 pa system, I owned two of them and worked the absolute hell out of them in the hot Texas sun and they were bomb proof and sounded absolutely incredible. I used mine routinely in 115 degree F heat with no issue, the caveat is you must have good clean power. I would rec a Tripplite LCR2400 line conditioner as its brown outs that usually take out pro audio equipment and no other manufacturer makes gear that protects against brownouts other than Tripplite. I lost 8500. in gear from brownouts til i figured all this out, The stuff aimed at musicians only protect against surges and spikes but not brownouts, and brownouts is what we face as musicians

I have 3 of the T1s bc they are sturdy and never overheated . The rest were adapters... Running it in stereo to an F1 812 wSub. I plug them into everything I can.

@@IAmKAZMO Yeah man, the T1's are awesome. I never understood why some folks bought a L1M2 and didnt get the T1 to go with it. Its like handicapping your pa but ive read a lot of peoples posts that didnt buy the T1 to go with their L1M2. I really wish I had kept mine. I just bought a small pa to get me by til I can afford an older Bose M2 system. I got some EV ZLX12-BTR's and a Mackie Profx12v3+ mixer. Those EV speakers are great too, Ive owned about 10 of them so far

@BillyBlaze7 They make Everything sound Powerful without "hurting" the speakers or devices. They preserve your equipment while maximizing it's sound and performance! I can't believe how much bass I'm getting out of this Revolve connected to it sitting in the corner attached to this tripod!!! Lovely 😍

I bought a used T1 about a year ago and it's great. The Tonematch presets are ok, but at least you can tweak everything by hand if required. Also seen reviews about the T4S, and almost all of them say it's nowhere near as good as the T1. And as for the price, 'nuff said!
Also using an L1 Pro 8 speaker (bought used as well) and it's amazing! I put my Roland TD-50X drums through it as well as our rhythm guitarist, and lead sometimes. The somewhat precarious line array balanced on top isn't to everyone's taste, and you can't pole dance on it, but it works well and provides great sound. Only negative is the organic design of it, for me, is somewhat ugly. Much prefer the look of the older F1 series, but each to their own ;-)

Thank you. Just purchased a L1 pro 16, should be delivered soon. I was debating whether or not to go with a T4 or not. I have an 8 channel soundcraft mixer that I think I will keep. Just wanted to down size a little. This is bad news.

😄Haha just bought one... great compact unit but I'm adding a copper base plate and heatsink to the bottom of it...lol...your right It does get very warm after about one hour of use... Thanks for the heads up and honest review. I guess that what happens when manufactures try to make things smaller and more convenient and portable without considering the real world implications 😉

OK, old retired tech here. If any box gets hot, it's going to fail. Step #1, see if you can screw on some stand off feet to get airflow under the case? Step #2, see if you can find some little push-in screens? If you can, pop the case off and drill some holes in the case and install the screens. Say 4 on each side and another 4 on the bottom. Air in, air out.
Of course these mods will void your warranty, but once it's out of warranty it does not matter ...
You like the sound, so keep the machine in good shape as long as possible so you have that sound 😊

My ts8 was making noise last with a 3 piece band all volumes changes would not stop the overload noise
After embarking ourselves with multiple takes I went into scenes setting choose to upload string band and boom fixed..So the noise you stated sounds like my issue.
Overheating was unlikely as we just began our performance
Then after resetting scene we no longer had that problem
Bose service is fair imo as I sent back a base from L1 model 2 twice after 15 years of service with a 4 week return and a 200 charge for replacement

Upload the latest firmware and then factory reset. That sorted intermittent sound issues we had with the T8S... can't remember but think I had same issue with the old T1 when I first got it. Sounds are superb, we run into two L1 Model 1S and works great for three piece rockabilly band, easily up to 150 people. Not used the USB though.

    550 pounds that's a heavy mixer

  • @derekboik4322

I have had such terrible luck with these mixers (T4s) and have sent 3 of them back. No one can figure our what is going on with the Channel 2 crackling/static and low end hum. There could be nothing plugged into the input and the Global Preferences will show Channel 2 receiving and sending a signal. The signal becomes exponentially worse when the Phantom Power button is pressed. I've sent 3 back to Sweetwater with the same issue... then waited a couple months and tried again. This one is doing the same thing. Have you ever heard of anyone experiencing this, or better yet, know how to fix it?

I have never tried this, but on mac you would need to create something called and 'aggregate device' in your usb/midi settings so that the computer understands there are several streams for sound. Sorry I cant be more help with this, perhaps someone else can chime in?

I'm not sure whether to get an acoustic pre amp to run through my Yamaha mg10xu or do away with everything and get one of these to go with my L1 compact.
The thing I'm dubious about is the price! And now, overheating 🤣 I think after your review Im going down the pedal route thank you! What do you think/any pre amps you'd recommend?

      Hi Lee
Pre-Covid I used to travel a lot internationally doing masterclasses and I took a Boss GT-100 which always went direct into the local PA and that was excellent, if heavy, but I never used it with the Bose. I imagine anything similar would be good :)

Thank you for your review. I have purchased the T1 & T4S - Both still in the box. Now I'm afraid to use either. A lot of money tied up in Bose speakers and gear! Sad to say Bose quality is going down hill like everything else! A real shame . . Prices remain high as hell!

    • @Dr.BGuitar
      @Dr.BGuitar  2 года назад

Its so weird, as my L1s is going strong and gets used at least twice a week, but the T4s still causes me constant worry and I still carry the behringer mixer as backup, which is frankly ridiculous when you consider the cost of this thing. Last couple of weeks I have done gigs where the house had in built Turbosound columns and EV columns, neither sounded as nice as the Bose but the build quality was tank like particularly compared to the new 'pro' line, probably 1/2 the price as well!
