The Chargers made the playoffs last year. It's not common to fire a coach who does that. But he did definitely deserve it this year.

lol I know right? This year was the year of the bad head coach. I can't believe how many bad ones there were at the beginning of the season. There's still a few active (looking at you Eberflus) but the worst are already gone.

I found it very telling when the guys at halftime were talking about Staley being fired mid-game on live TV. Like, you know it’s bad when the guys who get paid to be positive and likeable on screen are laughing about the possibility of the coach getting fired in front of the whole country.

@@MonsterMeatMac I know that’s not the whole thing he’s paid for. I’m a Seahawks fan, I love Richard Sherman enough to where I’ll never question an opportunity to hear him talk about football. The thing is that even with Richard Sherman, usually they’re trying to keep it respectful to some degree… NOT WITH THAT BROADCAST 🤣
A good example is the Jets and Zach Wilson. Whenever I’ve caught a Jets game this season the announcers, commentary, halftime, etc. always tries talking positively about Zach Wilson, and they usually just reach a point where they’re majorly sugarcoating how bad he’s played. I assumed the same thing would happen for Staley and the Chargers(I hadn’t watched a Chargers game since earlier in the season), and I found it hilarious when I realized I was wrong, and that they really were just gonna laugh about the possibility of him getting fired in embarrassing fashion.

As a chargers fan two things, I never thought I’d ever do root for the Raiders to score more and the constantly update ESPN news to see if he’s gone. Also highly accurate about my feelings from last night and this morning.

As a neutral on both teams I thought during 4th quarter that the raiders should score more and beat the record so their fans have something to celebrate and to give the chargers enough reason to fire the coach.
When the Chargers started putting up points I was so scared. Defensively that was NOT a bad game. Despite the socre, it was sub 400 offensive yards. Most of the scoring was defensively aided.
So when the Raiders started playing feel-bad football I was sweating bullets, going noooonono, we are NOT making Staley look like he "just had a bad start"

Spanos could’ve handed him the keys to the franchise at any time, and right now Justin Herbert would be upright and leading a conference-leading Charger squad.
And from what I understand, the chargers never even tried once.
Russell Wilson was done. The Broncos gave up 70.
And within weeks, the Broncos are fighting for the division lead.

As a Lions fan, I feel for Charger fans as they are going thru what we did for sooooo long, only somewhat worse in some ways because of the city change (but maybe not in terms of years of struggle.) Star QB, but a befuddled organization that try as they might just couldn't get it right. The Raiders gave the Chargers their best possible christmas gift.
This was me literally lol I went to the faiders chargers game left the stadium second half and cancelled my season tickets but when I seen that Staley and Tom tolesco hit fired and we picked up Jim harbaugh I called my representative right back and even upgraded my seats lol
One thing no one's talking about is that recently the Chargers have had almost all of their good players out. It's insane. I looked prior to the game this week... Herbert, Allen, Bosa, and about 5 other players that have pff grades over 70. That's incredibly unlucky, and it's about half their salary cap. All I'm saying is that I'm not super surprised they got blown out like this.

If I were the owner of the Chargers, I would’ve fired him after that first season debacle, where he gave up the opportunity to tie the Raiders and ultimately lost a playoff spot. That would have been it for me, but instead the poor fans had to endure a terrible playoff game, where they blew a 27 to nothing lead, and then last nights debacle among many other things.
