- Many trekkers have written to us asking about the Forclaz Travel Backpack 500 Organiser. It's a 40L organiser, shaped much like a travel backpack.
Here's an honest review of the Forclaz Travel Backpack 500 Organizer 40L Review. This is not a paid review.
In this video, Indiahikes founder, Arjun Majumdar, reviews the travel organiser after having used it on a few of his trips.
He takes you through the
- Comfort and ease of use
- Compartments and features
- Straps and accessories
- Looks, durability and value for money
By the end of the video, you'll have a good idea whether it is worth it investing in the Forclaz Travel Backpack 500 Organizer 40L.
Many trekkers also ask us "are forclaz bags good?"
Forclaz bags, from our experience, are good. They are meant for travellers and trekkers, and are preferred by most trekkers. They also have the added benefit that they usually come with a warranty of many years.
On the other hand "Is a 40L backpack enough for Travelling?"
This backpack is good enough for most of your weekend travels. It will not work for a week-long trek in the Himalayas, where you have to carry many layers and other gear. But it is perfectly useful for a weekend getaway and very convenient for the same.

I agree with the following points: 1) You don't feel you are carrying much. I have used other bags from Decath to one of my trips to Bombay. The humidity over there made it worse for my back to carry that bag for longer period. This wasn't the case with this bag. For same reason, this bag feels light on your back. I carried this bag in Kargil and given the high-altitude nature, this bag didn't weigh me down. 2) Everything is so easy to find. I am an organiser-nerd and this bag satites that part of me. You open the bag and you know where everything is. 3) Laptop compartment. Oh my fucking goodness. I am a freelancer and do you know how much time this feature saves me. Whenever, I get few minutes in the way, I take out my laptop without having to take out my whole bag. 4) Their compression straps can easily hold two jackets which further gives you space. 5) I don't think it is just a weekend trip bag. I have carried my clothes and skin care worth 28 days and it was easily able to carry that with some space left. I think it is how you pack . I got it for 5700 from Decath store.
Im going on a trip that fairly resembles yours. Did you need an extra bag to hold all ur belongings for the 28 day trip or did this bag really suplly enough space for it?
Hey, like I said, it is how you pack. Let me give you the visual picture. I have kept one medium size packing cube(got it from Amazon Basics) on the right side. And top of it, my skin care and body care was there. In the left side, you see two compartments. There I kept my food items and coffee essentials that could last me for me 28 days. So yeah, I didn’t carry extra bag. Safe journey.
@@sakshiwadhwa8868Can you make a video showing the way to pack in such bags
Do you know what size laptop the bag can fit? I have a 16 inch laptop, 11.5 inch wide and 19.5 inch diagonal laptop. It's fairly large so I want to see if it would fit in the laptop compartment before i buy the bag online.
@@kayciashyln Rest assured, it will fit.
Good review, just what I needed.
Shame that nice looking white & grey colour isn’t available anymore, at least here in the UK
I have used a 35L backpack for 8 days trip to Thailand (Bangkok and Phuket) so I’d say 40L is extremely doable. In case I wasn’t clear, I went there with just one bag. Since flights in and from Thailand only allow 7kgs I had to pack smart. I only brought merino wool casual t-shirts and trousers along with one pair of swimming shorts. I won’t go around explaining merino wool (please look it up) but just 4 pairs of tees and 2 trousers were more than sufficient for me. Had it been somewhere cold, I would have needed more clothes in which case a 40L like this will work wonders. Being someone who flies frequently, I can’t be bothered with checking in luggage every time. Just one bag and I’m sorted. Please use packing cubes if you’re worried about formal clothes.
Fantastic detailed review
Good review but you forgot to talk about the 2 external pockets and the raincover.
Does the laptp accomodate 15inch lap?
Nice review. Perfectly made for practical usage for working professional during trips. But price can be improved by reducing to under 5k.
I have ordered a forclaz 60L recently.
Hope it would be good.
I use to use my Osprey pack for Carry-on only international travel. But that particular bag was too heavy for budget airlines like Air Asia… I found this pack at Decathlon and never looked back… It is great and for a fraction of the cost of an Osprey. I do recommend a compression type packing cube. The main zip compartment fits a large one and helps keep your clothes tidy. I have so far used mine hopping between Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. As this gentlemen elluded to, it is designed primarily as a travel pack. It could handle some lite trekking. Or maybe even the Camino across Spain. But it is definitely not suited for doing treks in Nepal, for instance. You most definitely need a proper, larger capacity pack, for such purposes.
the osprey farpoint is only 300 gms heavier than this backpack. Was the weight difference really so significant?
Amazing product
Good review :)
Costly as on date.. as per India mkt
Thank you for the review. I agree that the straps and support is excellent and that one can carry about 3 days stuff. The Cotopaxi inspired zipper locks are nice to have. However, at this price point they should provide YKK zippers all along. The mesh has poor quality written all over. And the laptop compartment is not hanging. I feel the Tomtoc A 82 offers better value at this price point.
How much is the Tomtoc A82 bag there? When currencies are converted, the A82 is about 1780 rupees more expensive tho admittedly, the bag is quite nice.
I think the Harness system of Tomtoc is not comfortable. Since that is a 40L bag too, we need a good hip belt and load lifters so to be comfortable while the load is on the shoulder.
👌👍
There is no bottom support for the laptop, and it's a turning decision for me. Otherwise it's a good one
But you don't need bottom support because if you notice they have enclosed the pocket quite above which ensures your laptop never touches the ground.
It's not the pocket enclosure, it's how deep the pocket is. And in reality it touches the bottom without any padding
Then did u find any ? If so which u would prefer. Please reply
Is it water proof?
It comes with a rain cover.
I have purchased same.. and used for 6 day trekking 😊
How was youd experience? I am thinking to take it to KGL Trek
I mean if you pack minimal things that's enough.. on Indiahikes site they have vdo on bag pack.. I used for summer trek.. for Ranthan Kharak recently in May...
Compartment helps alot.. but I was feeling weight of bag because of material used.. compare to other bag material..
It costs 5999
