Its painfully obvious that Tien would have won that fight. The only chance Roshi even has to win is the Mafuba which requires prep he didnt have and wouldnt have been worth it for a tournament match considering the cost back then.
I wholly agree...but I think for it to truly work . . . Earth would need a group of fighters who rose to the Dragon Team's level...and did so unnoticed in their own series of adventures without the crew somehow knowing, and sensing the rising Ki levels across the world. like learning a similar but different power base that is more difficult to sense with ki based combat training.
They became too strong for such a small arena at this point. The Piccolo vs Goku final at the end of DB was already showing that: they literally destroyed the entire region and it's a miracle (or pure plot armor) nobody in the public died. In the Cell arc, Cell tried to put an arena but quickly noticed it just hindered the fight and it was stupid, then destroyed it. Nobody amongst the Z fighters would be able to fight full power or even 1% power if there was a tourney with a public to worry about (that is not protected by some magical force).
Just had a really dumb, goofy idea. Since we don't know the exact mechanics of Tien's reverse Kamehameha technique... Imagine Perfect Cell, aiming to blow up the planet during his fight with SSJ2 Gohan. But instead of Gohan doing his Kamehameha to overpower it, Tien just jumps in and uno reverse cards Cell's blast right back at him.
This question can also use evidence from the King Piccolo saga. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember Roshi incapacitating Tien because he believed Tien could avenge him later. This scene happened right before Roshi sacrificed his own life using the Mafuba.
Regarding the early speed feats of DB there are several times when the audience says they can't see what's happening. So I find it weird that in later series people far weaker than the Z fighters who don't even know ki control can see these guys fighting and tell who's losing.
I REALLY hate to say it but I think I agree. As much as I want to believe Roshi would win, he would only ever win probably 25% of the time against Tien. As much as I would like to believe Roshi has enough experience to ring-out Tien if he absolutely had to, it would probably be a desperate struggle if Tien caught on.
If Roshi wanted to win, he would have. He didn't use any of his most powerful moves - going full power, sleepy boy, thunder shock surprise, the evil containment wave, and who knows how many that we've never seen on screen. Tien even acknowledges that it seemed like Roshi was holding back. Granted, Tien didn't use the tri-beam, but I would still give Roshi the edge.
@@arrownoir Tien's only real chances are to ring him out significantly and wear out his methods to get back in by forced use of Ki or to bait him into a 1 v 1 Ki fight, Tien has more stamina in Ki (but weaker in physical) than Roshi does. Roshi is shown to tire out quickly with his use of Ki attacks. Its due to how he fights and acts. Tien is known to use more Ki attacks due to the crane hermit school's upbringing. Dodon Ray, Flight, multi form, Kamehameha, 4 arm, and Tri beam etc. Roshi prefers the older more honorable method of close combat fighting rather than ki based attack after attack. Effectively Roshi lacks in that due to lack of regular use of Ki. He saves them for emergency use and extreme situations usually.
Hard to say for sure, because Kamesennin could just have been humble there, and he didn't use his full power. But his abilities are a pretty unpredictable factor here, and I should more easily bet on Tenshinhan if it wasn't for that. What if he used his hypnosis (that he totally should have used to defeat Jiren, because that would have been funny) to put Tenshinhan to sleep? What about the Bankoku Bikkuri Shou? Could Tenshinhan break out of that? It can be broken out of, since the oozaru did, but I don't know if Tenshinhan is stronger by a big enough margin to break out of that. But yeah, definitely one of the best arcs. The anime made it even better.
Its interesting how Master Roshi uses the phrase "whipper snapper" (a term used to describe slave owners back in the day in america who just idly whip their whips) to refer to young folks lol.
Wow I will say I got into the comment thread just as someone had posted an interesting comment yesterday that I wanted to respond to but it does appear that the powers that be didn't want me to respond. I think that the comment was interesting, I can't tell if it was taken down by the person who wrote it or more likely simply by the fact that it appears a lot of care and time probably went into the post considering the length and stock that laughing stock got offended by it. It did seem to come off a bit hot footed but it did also seem to come from a place of care. If laughing stock did take it down i would ask about intentions. It not be a right of mine to tell one how to work there own channel but if criticism gets you banned and I dont know that it does I would insist that the rule be looked at. It is not my channel so be it as it may it aint my call but I was going to engage with the girly and think it would have been swell. Good luck to the channel regardless I suppose.
I think I saw that too. Quite lengthy description about things that were mostly irrelevant but I do think that they seemed pretty firm on one thing and I can't exactly say I disagree. The constant poking at a franchise you claim to love is disconcerting at best but mostly seemed obsessive. Critics exist everywhere and one man's trash is another's treasure. I tend to believe that short and sweet gets the point across best so one final thing, if you don't enjoy something giving it attention is not going to take away from the fact that it exists won't make it better and will only make it stronger because attention is all it needs.
@@rogerhugg2074 that's ok I found them. It appears that this channel has a treat people with respect rule that they clearly don't follow. It is kinda upsetting to me. If you set up rules on your comment section that ask for respect you need to be extra careful to be sure you are being respectful. This is clearly not the case here. They sent me what they said which while a bit wordy and as you said has unnecessary elements to it. The response is awful. It starts with I can say what I want. Mid text is in essence assuming that the original post is a hate post with something to the effect of if you watch my Yada Yada Yada... you would know... but you would hate it so it doesn't matter. Ends with so the assumptions I made state that your post is invalid. This post doesn't even respond to the original post and is more a INCREDIBLY disrespectful way of not answering a question which then begs the question why an attempt was made. To end I will say the post was quite unclear as to what it was trying to do. As it was criticism on an overused joke which seemed like background noise considering how much was there. All of this being said slamming someone's face into a wall seems a tad excessive if you ask me. They seem very upset that one of their favorite RUclipsr personalities is like this. That is life I suppose though.
I wonder how Tien was able to hold off Semiperfect Cell, for a time. He couldn't even scratch the Androids. Android 16 couldn't even faze Semiperfect Cell. I'm guessing because he nearly self-destructed that it dealt far more damage than he otherwise could do, but it still seems implausible to me.
So while Roshi at his full power bulked up kamehameha could destroy the moon I noticed a big draw back, much like the Final Flash the target has to be standing still. So while Roshi's best kanehameha is stronger than Tein's Kikoho, Tein would have been able to dodge Roshi's attack abd counter with his own. But you also get another indication that Roshi would have lost as he watched Goku vs King Campa, Goku showed such an improvement that he could not only dodge an attack in mid air with his breath but also could best a former World Martial Arts champion in less than two minutes. So while Roshi was still one of the strongest fighters here Tein was stronger and would have won regardless.
I'll be getting to the manga boojks that actually feature Tien Shinhan in the Future. I'm still on the manga books that feature The Red Ribbon Army. Back when I play Dragon Ball Orogins 2 on my Nintendo DS I noticed there wasn't any filler in the games' cutscenes. Dragonball Origins 2 on the Nintendo DS feature gameplay from The Red Ribbon Army Saga to the end of the Fortune Teller Baba Saga.
Love old school DB topics. I wish there were more videos on DB, but I know they’re less popular topics, so I get the incentive to stick to Z and super.
I believe that Tenshinhan had this fight. Chun gave in, knowing he was outclassed. A whole new batch of fighters and martial artists were coming up and Roshi stood down. Tenshinhan had power and speed. And i believe there was techniques that Tenshinhan wanted to use. This guy is a bag full of surprises. This is probably my second favorite fight. The first would be Tenshinhan vs Goku. Them Yamcha vs Tenshinhan.
I would say at this Point Master Roshi was still a little above Goku and Tien. But he was old and probaly not able to keep up for a long Time in a Fight until Death. But Roshi had much more experience and i'm sure he would have been able to kick him out of the Ring at least with some Tricks. 1) Master Roshi for a few Minutes 2) Goku 3) Tien 4) Krillin
Roshi would have won because he would have thrown his blue wig onto Tien and then out of bliss that he's no longer bald he would lose focus and then roshi would seal him in the jar with no repercussions to speak of
I think the bulked form was in the original canon of the manga something akin to "Super Trunks", maybe not as straining and tiring because is in base, but with a huge debuff in mobility and that's why he never fought hand to hand with it, it was however quite smart to use it to blast the strongest Kamehameha possible What do you think about Krillin vs Yamcha in this time period? Krillin is usually stronger and most people would jump to that conclusion immediately, but at this point it isn't clear cut at all, he is the one who states in the manga that they are "about the same" (both trained togheter for 3 years so he knew well), besides Yamcha had the Kamehameha already mastered going into the tournament and was much taller, before you say that's irrelevant remember how Roshi beat Goku the previous tournament, if they are about equal in power any advantage counts.
I know tien in super got one shoted my master roshi but honestly that was due to bad writing because how tien literally trains everyday he should have at least been around super sayin namek goku level if anything in super but Noo the writers literally couldn’t give him that while they gave everyone els a power up
I can see Roshi only winning when he uses the lightning attack that he used in the first Tourny against Goku, that move seemed incredibly broken, or the mafuba to get Tien out of the Ring.
How well did the bulked out form work for Trunks against Cell? Roshi NEVER fights in that form, it is all raw power. He just assumes it when he wants to hit above his weight class then shrinks back down to avoid losing agility.
It's clear Tien has better perception than Roshi. That doesn't mean he would beat him if they both went all-out. Roshi in his maximum power form is a monster. He would be considerably more powerful than Tien. Even if he was slower and had less haxxy techniques, all it would take is him landing one Thunder Shock Surprise and it's lights out. In fact, this is how the fight plays out when the two duke it out many years later in Dragon Ball Super.
I think Tien would win against Roshi. At the latest if he had used the Kiku cannon, since Roshi can't fly and because of his age he doesn't have as much stamina and ki as Goku. Roshi could possibly win through his lightning technique, with which he held Goku and defeated Gohan back then. But tien is a genius and a monster. maybe he would have a counter for it, like a counter to the kamehameha, that he can reflect it back. If he manages to counter this technique, Tien wins against Roshi, I say. For me, Goku was clearly the strongest fighter at that point. But there was probably a new lesson for Goku, that even if you are stronger than your opponent, you can still lose the fight due to a lack of techniques like flying or the car because of the environment. Another topic is that Tien was really the biggest victim in z. He was by far the strongest person and yes he was a human before there was a Redcon. He was a good rival for Goku and should have stayed that way. has by far the best techniques, which the others have all copied and adopted. very sad that z has developed in such a way that people absolutely cannot keep up for the one reason that they cannot transform, which is just stupid.
@@True2ChainzLilWayneexcellent thank you well that means at this point Tien is 1.2x stronger than Roshi so he’s got the strength advantage and Roshi has the skill advantage but I think Tien would win he’s not too far off in terms of skill
he probably wasnt taking into a count his bulked up form since he never used it untill the situation was serious and not a tournament like against ozaru goku
Master roshi actually has two transformations full powered form and Max Power Max Power is a transformation-like power up, of which Master Roshi is the only known user.
I like how even tho you showed every piece of evidence there is people are still making up statements in the comments. Like seriously, before claiming a character said something always go back and actually check that they did first.
I feel like Master Roshi should be stronger with his 100%, because besides kikoho I do feel weird thinking about Tien blowing up the moon that early in db But anyways Roshi's 100% wasn't that suited for hand to hand combat and wouldn't last long, so Tien would've won more surely
I believe that Roshi would have won. Roshi never used his full power form. If Roshi used it at the right moment, that would have really surprised Tien, and he could have used that surprise to his advantage. Roshi's experience and wide array or attacks would have probably overwhelmed Tien.

The characters have outgrown regular earth by this point,it's all about space, time and universes now.
Seeing as you made this I'd like to a a 22nd budokai tien vs tao pai pai vid or Yamcha vs tao
Okay now do UI Roshi vs strongest version of Tien 😅
This question can also use evidence from the King Piccolo saga. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember Roshi incapacitating Tien because he believed Tien could avenge him later. This scene happened right before Roshi sacrificed his own life using the Mafuba.
Regarding the early speed feats of DB there are several times when the audience says they can't see what's happening. So I find it weird that in later series people far weaker than the Z fighters who don't even know ki control can see these guys fighting and tell who's losing.
Who would win between piccolo post 1st HTC training or Vegeta pre 2nd HTC training. I think it’s closer than people think.
Jackie Chun = OG Joy Boy?😮
I REALLY hate to say it but I think I agree. As much as I want to believe Roshi would win, he would only ever win probably 25% of the time against Tien. As much as I would like to believe Roshi has enough experience to ring-out Tien if he absolutely had to, it would probably be a desperate struggle if Tien caught on.
I kinda miss Jackie Chun😅
He needs to make a come back
Tien is such an underrated character. I would watch a whole spin off show just about him.
No, he had zero chance
At that time Tien was scariest character in the series.
Hope you move past the moro arc eventually. Would love to see your opinions on it. Good and bad
People talk about Krillin stealing the Solar Flare, but never about Gotenks stealing Tien's volleyball attack.
Its interesting how Master Roshi uses the phrase "whipper snapper" (a term used to describe slave owners back in the day in america who just idly whip their whips) to refer to young folks lol.
I agree. You bodied that question with those great facts. Tien beat goku by a technicality and luck, tien knew that too.
Been wondering this for years
Wow I will say I got into the comment thread just as someone had posted an interesting comment yesterday that I wanted to respond to but it does appear that the powers that be didn't want me to respond.
Oh and if you wouldn't mind can you tell me what her name was I wasn't exactly looking when I read the comment
I only remember the end of it assuming we are talking about the same person even. I am pretty sure it ended in girlo
I can't quite Remember 😕
I want to see what if demon king piccolo won, invaded kamis lookout, absorbed kami, and then had to deal with the saiyan invasion
I would say at this Point Master Roshi was still a little above Goku and Tien. But he was old and probaly not able to keep up for a long Time in a Fight until Death. But Roshi had much more experience and i'm sure he would have been able to kick him out of the Ring at least with some Tricks.
1) Master Roshi for a few Minutes
2) Goku
3) Tien
4) Krillin
Dam og dragonball was so fukin dope
Roshi would have won because he would have thrown his blue wig onto Tien and then out of bliss that he's no longer bald he would lose focus and then roshi would seal him in the jar with no repercussions to speak of
Day idek of asking Mike to do a video on “ssj4 Goku vs Nuova Shenron: who would have won?” 😭😭
If Roshi went all out, Tien would have won, but a more tired Tien woul have then lost to Goku.
More original Dragon Ball please
I think the bulked form was in the original canon of the manga something akin to "Super Trunks", maybe not as straining and tiring because is in base, but with a huge debuff in mobility and that's why he never fought hand to hand with it, it was however quite smart to use it to blast the strongest Kamehameha possible
What do you think about Krillin vs Yamcha in this time period?
I would say Jackie Chun
How well did the bulked out form work for Trunks against Cell? Roshi NEVER fights in that form, it is all raw power. He just assumes it when he wants to hit above his weight class then shrinks back down to avoid losing agility.
it's called the bulma buff.. yamcha was good here, then no bulma and he fell off. then vegeta became strong and got super saiyan. bulma buff
Toriyama never should’ve made the kikoho a suicidal technique.
It would of been a tough fight, but ultimately I think tien would of beat Jackie chun
Roshi would lose. But, the fight would be hardwr, in the final, goku would won with no diff against a tired tien.
He was a good rival for Goku and should have stayed that way. has by far the best techniques, which the others have all copied and adopted. very sad that z has developed in such a way that people absolutely cannot keep up for the one reason that they cannot transform, which is just stupid.
roshie had the techniques he would have found a way, he also had Tien mentally he had the mind games
I just watched this episode lastnight.... I got Jackie Chun for the win! But I am bias because Master Roshi is the greatest Dragon Ball character
Can someone confirm Tiens PL? Wasn’t it like 180?
Both him and Kid Goku were 180. King Piccolo was 260. At these lower numbers the power levels are more exponential though till they get to thousands.
@@True2ChainzLilWayneexcellent thank you well that means at this point Tien is 1.2x stronger than Roshi so he’s got the strength advantage and Roshi has the skill advantage but I think Tien would win he’s not too far off in terms of skill
With how fast Tenshinhan is, even if Roshi did try to use a fraction of that moon-destroying Kamehameha, Tenshinhan wouldn't have let him fire it
I believe this is my Favorite Arc in all of Dragonball. It was obvious that Tien would always defeat Master Roshi.
he probably wasnt taking into a count his bulked up form since he never used it untill the situation was serious and not a tournament like against ozaru goku
Roshi did have more experience though. Its rly a hard one with this two
Master roshi actually has two transformations full powered form and Max Power
Max Power is a transformation-like power up, of which Master Roshi is the only known user.
I always wonder would win between Master Roshi vs Grandpa Gohan
During that point in the story Roshi claimed that Goku, Killin, and Yamcha have surpassed him. Tein would win but with a great deal of difficulty
I like how even tho you showed every piece of evidence there is people are still making up statements in the comments. Like seriously, before claiming a character said something always go back and actually check that they did first.
I feel like Master Roshi should be stronger with his 100%, because besides kikoho I do feel weird thinking about Tien blowing up the moon that early in db
But anyways Roshi's 100% wasn't that suited for hand to hand combat and wouldn't last long, so Tien would've won more surely
I believe that Roshi would have won. Roshi never used his full power form. If Roshi used it at the right moment, that would have really surprised Tien, and he could have used that surprise to his advantage. Roshi's experience and wide array or attacks would have probably overwhelmed Tien.
