Love the idea of the screenshots for viewers who don’t want to watch a whole reel. Much faster to see the quality of work. I might steal this idea too. Looks very effective. Can’t wait to hear more about the bull riding feature. Sounds like a bit of doc and manufactured scenes. Would love to get more into that space.
Feature packages, my favorite format. Wish I was vlogging all the pro sports gigs from my time in Los Angeles, NFL, NBA, PGA, LPGA, NASCAR, F1, WTA, UFC.
I started keeping screen grabs of interviews , as I would often do them in Cat Browse after remote interviews , to show the clients / director , the shots by email , after down loading . Also to let prospective employers how I would be generally lighting interviews , and that yes there will be shadow on the face , and the purpose of lighting is not actually to achieve no shadows but to make them .
Absolutely hooked on all your videos, as a young photographer/videographer in Cork, Ireland (year and a half in) I find your videos so incredibly helpful and have taught me so much! Can I ask for the interviews where you leave overhead lighting on, what are you doing regarding white balance? Are you matching your key light to the overhead lighting, so that the colour is fairly uniform throughout the subject and background? Thanks, and looking forward to the next video 👌
White balance. In general I note the background color temp, then set my foreground based on what color shift I desire for the BG. Then camera WB set to keylight on subject. Often the BG is daylight but I set the FG to half and half (about 4300k) so the BG is a cooler blue color (to complement skin tone).
If you do decide to get a new gimbal, the RS4 Pro can fly the Burano. I know you have your FX3 as a gimbal cam workflow, but it’s nice to have that option. It’s also only marginally larger than the SC.
I found the screenshot lighting breakdowns very helpful, and I can see why you flag the overhead lights now, it’s not just colour temp issues… at 00:00:25:00 for a moment I thought ‘Why is he setting up kit in the baggage claim area?’ But I’m watching on my phone while I’m making breakfast and distracted 😝. Lastly is the overhead the 5*7 and can work with one light stand and clip?
Would love to know your thoughts on framing your interviews. I see that sometimes you've got tons of floor and sometimes not. This appears to me as making choices on lens FOV/height. Curious as to what goes into that process for you? Is it purely aesthetics? Logistics?
Yep you could have probably drove from SA to here faster and maybe cheaper. The construction at IAH is a pain!. If you ever here again and have time I'll buy you pick. See ya.
For me, varies by job, about half have some type of NDA. In those cases they are generally ok if I use after their show is live. All my years of higher profile entertainment work and I have little to showcase due to contracts.
I'm adding that screenshot page to my site as well. Thank you

cool seeing you breakdown your different interviews, and what you did and didn’t like about them! 🙌🏻
Always a joy to watch your updates!
great video! Really enjoyed the breakdown of the screen grabs. Very helpful to understand your perspective and how you frame these shoots
A greta video - I wish there were more like this where DP's actually analyse their footage - lots to learn with this.
Love the explanation of your screen grabs. Great work! Charles
Thank you.
Apologies for the repetitive VO. Jet lag + tracked the vlog, then discovered no audio, second pass lost track of what I said.
Your voice is therapy, repetition is welcome!

Great idea with the screen grabs. Think i'll implement that as well. And the brake down of each for us(me)… priceless.
Thx, still find it interesting following along

Those steak houses are 🔥🔥🔥
LOVE your videos!~ At 5:22, in the hotel room, what model case is it that's at the end of the dresser, close to the USB charge ports on the wall?
Left Pelican 1615, right think tank roller derby.
@@CrankyCameraman thanks!!!

What's your thoughts on the new Sigma 28-45 f/1.8? It could potentially replace the 28, 35, and 50 e-mount primes
Interesting specs, haven't seen it in person. I almost never shoot below a 2.0, so could be perfect.

Scary watching your camera at 1:17 the drama!

The way the schedule played out I wish I drove and bought my son. Next time.
can find it difficult to get permissions to use on web site even for stills

What Newer lights did you have here?
