Only recently started watching the Red Roses and women's Rugby. Really enjoying the open running rugby and the skills on display. Seems less turgid forward based than the mens games. Go England!
I don't particularly disagree, but what this game seemed to lack was solid lines of defence and tackling - that is where I think the women's game will develop - but great running open phases of play.
The laws seem to suit the game played by women better than the men's game. I have been watching men's rugby for a long time and it seems to me that the women's game is currently similar to that played by Wales in the early 1980s, which was the time that the men's game was most fun to watch.
Exceptional performance from The Red Roses, some cracking try’s too. Thankfully was able to watch the full game, just wish it was on broadcast television instead of streaming.
Entertaining game that. USA had a good go - their number 12 was very good - but England had too much class. Venue was far too big, poor decision by organisers.
It was a long way from the Roses first team, with tryouts and injury returnees (and no Marlie). The total co-ordination was not up to the usual standard. Kudos to U.S.A. they have some powerful players and good runners. They take it seriously and are improving. It is a pity the crowds do not turn out yet, but North America is dominated by U.S. sports that are relatively minor in the rest of the world. The whole game and aftermath was a lesson in sportsmanship and cameraderie to some other sports.
I am new to Rugby thanks to RUclips Springboks and All Blacks channels I am becoming a fan, but Rugby will never replace our Football in my heart having played it in Highschool and College, also the Rugby men's game will never replace Football due to the salary difference for elite athletes so our top athletes will always choose the $$ of the NFL, which means we can't compete with the guys that don't make it in Football against SA/NZ and other country's top athletes who play Rugby... Our only hope is our women because we don't have leagues for women that pay at the level of the men's game, so the choice is dependent on which sport you like more for women. But Rugby I is a great sport and rugby players are Tough as hell.. And this is coming from a guy that didn't know there were two Rugby sports just a year ago league and Union... 🤣🤣🤣
Yea agree, bits of cohesion missing here and there. But a lot of the passing was more connected, ( i know some wasn't, it has been a lot worse) and kicking for goal unbelievably better. The opportunities given to some newer faces, proved good because that experience is valuable to player and coach. Those "rested" , ( and players will need a rest in tournaments) will pop back in. Tournaments often produce performances that can be err not quite as good as when you see them in a one off, or 3 game series; because you have to swap players about.
This has been said for many years. And the top teams continue to win... What if the best players for Samoa, Fiji, etc. are merely showcased - only to be creamed-off by the top-tier nations? (Seems to happen a lot!) How will the international game truly develop, then? Will other teams come through and be truly competitive? (I'm thinking about the men's game... but I wonder if it happens in the women's game, too...?) Regarding Argentina, Japan, etc.... in the men's game, they can win as a one-off; but going on to win consistently...? No, if anything, things are going backward: Australia are no longer serious challengers, for example. (Yet, they won the World Cup twice!) And in the women's game...? Maybe they can point the way forward to the men by making international competition far stronger. (But the pessimist in me tends to doubt it!)
Two observations. Firstly, the size of the crowd raises the question as to whether next year France should host last year we also had disappointing crowds. Secondly, the debutant winger looks promising which means that England might have an interchangable set of wingers as well as a complete front row change. Also that means that Kildunne and Dow will have competition for places.
@@copferthat Even worse, it seems not to have been promoted in Vancouver. What's the point of sticking the game in such a large stadium if your only means of promotion is word-of-mouth? World Rugby has not gotten a hold of this at all.
USA played a great match, they are a powerful team, England had to work hard to get a good win in the end. Zoe Harrison was superb, her spot kicking almost faultless, she converted some difficult kicks to keep England's scoreboard looking good
"She converted some difficult kicks to keep the scoreboard looking good" - England scored 9 tries they didn't need the conversions to make it look good USA were smashed 😂
Usa were reckless in many tackles . The referee was over tolerant , as with the jaw challenge on Ellie who was lucky not to have a her jaw broken , the referee just ignored a sending off offense . The question is , do England need to risk players of quality in a pointless competition against inexperienced teams who are likely to cause unnecessary injuries before a world cup competition ?.
Watching from NZ, that was the most clinical dynamic game I’ve ever seen the Red Roses play. Lovely to watch. The try scored by the debutant Westcombe- Evan’s I haven’t seen that exact same move since the Black Ferns used it against Wales in the last WRWC and Breach’s try was a peach. Mathews doing Mathews things and Harrison’s boot on point. USA played out of their skins as well and I thought the game was closer than what the game suggests. They certainly made England work for the majority of the match. Great to see this team progressing well under Sione Fukofuka.
@@oldershikari828 I didn't: 1) No tradition of the game there. 2) Everyone knew who would win - by a substantial margin - before a ball was kicked. Unfortunate - but that's the reality.
Remember, this was the early KO (12:30 local time). There were many more by the time Canada played France in the second game of the day (which was also very entertaining).
Of greater concern: the overall standard of the international game. Did we want to witness a whitewash? (Look at the "crowd" in the stadium: the substantial victory by England was a foregone conclusion.) What's the expression? "Like shooting fish in a barrel."
The USA were better than I expected but the superior skill and athleticism told over the 80 minutes. The USA 12 is an absolute baller! Scazza is feeling her way back to form and hopefully she will continue to improve The English debutants we're decent and the expected set piece dominance took a while to come to the fore
The Red Roses have to play in empty stadiums because of "promoting" the game to please the Rugby hierarchy. Twice the team has gone to New Zealand in two major tournaments with only somewhere approaching a crowd when the game involved the NZ team. Now the same in Canada. Such tournaments should only be scheduled in countries that make the effort to fill their stadiums and stop virtue signaling..
Really good game! USA were fantastic - their tries were awesome! So glad the red roses finished so strongly tho - with Canada and New Zealand matches coming up they really need to be on top of their game if they hope to take the WXV1 title for a second year in a row.
Some nice tries by the Red Roses and the overall strength of the squad was too much for a spirited USA team. However, far, far too many errors. Three times in a row in the second half they allowed USA to get the ball from a restart after they had scored, indefensible. When will they learn, and particularly the scrum half, that when you pass the ball you pass it to the midriff not the head! They’ll need to up their game, although let’s acknowledge there were a lot of new players in the fifteen. Onwards, from a very keen Red Roses supporter.
With the greatest respect to the wonderful playing of Holly Aitchison and having seen the recent game of the Roses v the USA, I have always had an issue with the primary weakness in the England squad and that has been a consistent fly-half but specifically with the kicking duties. We all know how very necessary that role becomes most especially when the outcome of a game depends on the fine margins of precious points both from penalties and try conversions. Step into the breach then, Zoe Harrison! Her performance in that area alone was impressive to say the least! My feeling then is that Zoe should be the ‘go to’ player if for nothing else but that task and in no way does that undermine Holly’s abilities and excellence on the field. Does anyone feel differently to this suggestion, er…….John Mitchell?!
The Yanks were totally outgunned but fair play to them, they managed to score some nice tries. England's backs looked slick. RE: the channel admin. Thankfully, unlike the idiots who run the Men's RWC channel, you're not putting spoiler scores in the title or thumbnail, and creating chapters is good too.
It's the driving on the left side of the road that gives the English a distinct advantage, that advantage alone is worth 41 points... How many points did England win by?? Take out 41 points from the English side and that's your final score... I hope explained it scientifically and logically correct for everyone to understand. Have a good day everyone!
I've never seen an English women's 15 kick their conversions so well, even the one that missed hit the post! Converting tries has always been a weakness with the English women's team. I think it was Brian Moore (not the football commentator) who said the women should be allowed to stand nearer to the goal, when taking a converted kick.
Credit to a much improved USA, they really took the fight to England which led to a frenetic game early on and causing England to lose control at times.
The US played well: two of the tries they conceded, were gifted to us, and, they could have scored another try. They should be proud of their performance.
Kelter, you're one of the best in the world, where did you pick up this habit of looking to the ref for help? This is the first I've seen you complain and it was egregious.
The win did not justify the Roses performance here. The USA were bigger and far stronger than the Roses and it was only their technical ability that let them down. A team to fear in WC2025 if they turn up. Highlight for me was our spot kicker, exceptional on the night but must keep it up and be consistent. The young guns acquitted themselves well getting tries between them. Outstanding solo tries for Jess and Ellie, but oh Ellie Kildunne, you ain't a 15 sweetheart, you got wasted by the Yanks. Maybe your best role is 13. My choice at 15 is Emma Sing. Only when the rear guard came on with 20 mins left did we notice the change in class, until then, for me, USA dominated 60 mins of that game. Bitch over, well done ladies and good luck against the Ferns because I think they may just take that game.
The fact that you use the term 'rear guard´ confirms to me that a) you know bugger all about rugby and that b) you may well having been watching a different game to the rest of us.
US Women's Rugby fails miserably on the social media promotional front. Yet I would have a long search to find something on an American Womans Team at all. Its a shame that I can so easily follow teams halfway around the world yet so limited exposure in my own backyard.
This is an experimental World Wide competition which includes many countries which are not traditional rugby players. The range from the very best to the worst is naturally wide. The top nations can play to full stadiums, and even domestic games in England have large crowds and some television coverage. Good that there is good interest in the womens' game but skill levels are not high, powder-puff tackling and, to be honest, most school first XVs would beat any of these teams.

@@glynnwright1699 Spot on! As an Englishman, I had the misfortune to play for my university team in Wales in the early 70s. I say 'misfortune', because most games ended up with the 'college boys' as they called us on the wrong end of the result. However, tickets to the Arms Park were available and not too expensive and it was a pleasure to see the magnificent Wales side of the time working its magic. Except, of course, if they happened to be playing England. The current women's game reflects the free flowing nature of the game I remember. And, as Brian Moore said, 'You don't get 29 box kicks and endless scrum re-sets in a match.' As for the women's game being less 'physical', that too is far from the case. Examples here are Kelter and Alex Matthews, just for starters. I'm just waiting to get tickets for the World Cup next year. Should be a brilliant competition.
Lots of points scored for the Roses, but a generally poor quality performance,if thats John Mitchells idea of ruthless and clinical he needs to hit the textbooks again.Fragile on the left edge again, and no forward dominance.Lucy Packer was poor.Lucky it wasnt the Black Ferns today, the Roses would have been soundly beaten.

And, as Brian Moore said, 'You don't get 29 box kicks and endless scrum re-sets in a match.'
As for the women's game being less 'physical', that too is far from the case.
It was team with debutants, resting key players, trying new plays. Do you not understand? By the way NZ were beaten by Ireland.
@@johnseabrook1703Here here! I second that. Dispite the missing veteran leadership and strong presence of rookies on pitch, this squad would have given anyone in the world a run for their money.
@@johnseabrook1703 well obviously, but it didnt look like new plays and the debs' played well.the result of the Irish game has no bearing on the Roses game.
Who is concerned about playing the Black Ferns ? Not England as they have beaten them 3or 4 times since the World Cup. Even the Irish beat them. Canada will be a good match up.
Wow 44k views, could nearly almost fill a stadium
There were 41,000 at Twickenham to watch England two weeks ago. It isn't England's fault that there was no attempt to publicise this event.
Well played England lesbians rugby team. Shame about the empty stadium.
Lord Lucan Eh? That sleazy, murderous mysoginist, is he a role model for you?
