Thanks brother, great tutorial, I’m getting a 2 inch pump tomorrow from Harbor freight, I’m using mine for fire suppression, I live up here in the mountains by Yosemite, and there is a lot of mowing and weed eating to do, so I’m putting mine on a trailer with 200 gallons of water,
Thanks😮 I tried for four days trying to get my trash pump to suck. I was so mad, that I was going to throw the damn pump in the pool. But, I found YOUR video and it started on the first try. Thanks, you probably kept me from getting divorced. LoL!!!
That's a strong water pump/engine.... the amount of water coming out that hose and pressure is more than enough... you could drain an entire lake , well not sure but definitely 20 of those same size pools in one shot with that engine/pump I guarantee it.. we used to pull water from water canals onto a water truck using an older water pump of around same size as yours in order to fill a small reservoir that the company that I worked for built inside a 6 acre lot. It took lots of trips from lot to the water canal using a tore up water pump that never gave up... that was years ago. I think about it now about the power these little can produce and the different things you can use them for. Anyway good review
I’m in Miami and I use the 1 inch yesterday because everything was flooded!! But… I got the special from Harbor Freight and buy the last pump in the store , 2 inches for $219😎 so now I have both!
Same pump. Sat next to a pond for two years (outside, uncovered, and undrained). Son called yesterday astounded that it cranked FIRST pull and watered his entire garden.
A few years back, I purchased a Predator 212cc water pump from Harbor Freight, to pump recycled water to my yard. I used it for 6 months during the warm season, and it developed a fuel leak where the fuel tube goes into the tank. I stored the unit in my garage so this was not acceptable...fumes, water heater. So I did not even try to fix it, I sold it on C-list and purchased a 50 cc Honda pump. Used it for 3 years with no problems.
@@billporter3134 the screen blocks bigger than 5/8 chunks of crap from getting into the pump. A trash pump doesn't have a chopper until you get to 3 and 4 in pumps.
Nice Video, Question I bought the pump and overall it works good, however when the water line gets' low it seems to stop pumping, the filter is still covered, any ideas on what it might be?
which is better? 5.5hp with a 2x2 inch pump or a 6.5hp 3x3 inch pump? I just need to fill up a 20,000 liter water tank for the house. I live in a rural town everyone's running gasoline/diesel water pumps for their house
If it can fit through the metal screen on the end of the green suction hose then the pump will move it. The screen is meant to keep anything that is too large from getting into the pump.
You think this would pump from a stream with a slight incline and about a 200ft total distance? Trying to fill a 2500 gallon tank with this years rain water before the stream dries up
That I am not sure of. It does come with the screen for the end of the hose to keep solids out so I’m assuming the manufacturer probably does not recommend it.
Good question, I think it would also depend on how far it’s pumping the water and if it’s having to pump it up hill or down hill. So hard to say because of all the variables. But what I can tell you is that with our experience with using it to only pump down swimming pools, with roughly 100ft of hose and the water is running down the homes driveway (so it’s going downhill) I have had it use a full tank in 4 hours. That was one full day we pumped 4 separate pools down with it.
I have a question: when 'breaking in' the motor, does the pump have to be pumping water, or, can I 'break in' the motor with out pumping water? dry pumping.
He's right. I have a Honda WT30X and WT40X I bought on marketplace and replaced the rear seals as part of their rebuild, they were about $200 each for the seals. Never run them dry or you'll be better off buying a new one. As far as the HF ones, I mean.
@@StormWaterDrainageSolutions thank you! I got everything but the pump in today. Excited to use it come spring. I got electrocuted by a electric sump pump last year and ended up dislocating my shoulder and decided I’d find a different way to drain pools after that
@@StormWaterDrainageSolutions That was total sarcasm. Their basis of " beating" everyone is based on price not quality. It will be a cold day in hell when the predator lasts longer and out performs a Honda engine on anything.
My mother in laws has a lots of leaves in the deep end about 1,000-1500 hundred gallons of leaves and water mostly leaves will this size suck that out? I tried to get a 4” track pump but nobody has one.
I am buying one of these this coming weekend to pump water from my lake to my garden. I'm stoked about it. I have a question though and hopefully anyone using this pump can answer it. I'll have a nozzle on the end of my outlet hose. If the pump is running, is it ok to close the nozzle and shut the water off for a short amount of time now and then while the pump is still running and my intake remains in my lake or will it cause a pressure issue with the pump? TIA
Does anyone have an idea of how to add a pool vacuum to this type of pump? This would work awesome after you shock and floced a green pool for getting that sludge up quickly from the bottom.
The distance doesn't matter as much as the elevation. If it's 100m downhill, that's no problem. Gotta check how how high you're wanting it pushed and compare that with the specifications for your pump.
Yes the green hose has to be stiff. It is used only on the intake port of the pump. If it were to flexible the suction generated by the pump to pull water through would cause the hose to collapse in on itself and water couldn't cycle through properly. Hope this makes sense!
@@StormWaterDrainageSolutions What happens if the screen gets plugged up with algae from a pond and it can't suck in any water but the pump is still running? Would it damage anything if the pump is running even if the system is still filled with water but not allowing the water to flow through?
@@dansherwood1399 Algae shouldn’t clog it, we have used this pump in some really nasty pools and the screen has never clogged. But yes water needs to be running through it while it is on so the pump doesn’t get burned out.
I didn't buy it because that hose is so stiff. I need to be able to maneuver the hose around into corners and stuff to suck stuff out. I went to my local rubber and gasket place and they have EPDM hoses but a 25 ft length with fittings is over $400. This thing seems to be good for moving water but not necessarily for cleaning things out.
Why would you need to pump the pool down? It needs to be shocked and sucked out. With the right chemicals and vacuum the crud off the bottom and back flushing the filter it should be ready for swimming in a few days.
These are foreclosed homes that sit vacant for years. There is no power on at these homes or people living in them. They are pumped down so that rain water doesn't over flow them and submerge the pool cover.

You didn't bother to just replace the fuel lines? Seems like a whole other pump would cost way more than a foot of fuel line

Can it pump more than 20 feet in depth? wanna try in pumping an underground well for about 8 meters below the surface.
Should be able too
So roughly how long did it take to drop the pool by that much?
About 20-25 minutes. Give or take a few!
I thought it was a two-stroke until he turned the choke off. I was like, heck yeah a two-stroke water pump!

Move the choke back to run. it stops smoke.
Would it be capable of pumping out an off grid 2,000 litre sewage tank.

Where did you get a suction hose that's actually flexible?! The one I bought from HF is stronger than I am and I can't straighten it out enough to use

Can it be used to also suck and spit out the leaves at the bottom of the pool if I attach a handle to it?
Green submersible hose has a filter grate on it to keep large debris from being sucked into the pump. I don't think it could handle leaves.
Not sure if you’ll see this but would this pump be alright to use in a vinyl lined pool or would it rip the vinyl?
I don’t see why not. So long as the metal screen on the end of the suction hose is gentle placed in and out of the pool.
