No where else to go? There is housing offered to people so long as they follow rules and are not doing drugs. ??? These people can get clean if they want…. But they DONT. I can’t feel too bad. And it sucks how it’s affecting the residents who pay taxes and work hard.
Yup. I've heard homeless people in the Bay talking about how they dont want to go to homeless shelters and "all I want is my own apartment". I work two jobs, so I do not feel bad about these sweeps. I do not work two jobs so others can get handouts whenever they want. It's absurd.
Facts.
This is exactly what I’m talking about. There is housing. There is services there’s rules. Some of these people have been in housing, but could not not follow the rules. People have been in homeless shelters, but don’t wanna stop doing drugs.!!!!!

I work for public service and offer people shelter in situations like this we give them options that are available and 10/10 they refuse the help their reason is, they don’t want to follow rules, no drugs and they simply just don’t want to contribute to society

That encampment was particularly bad. I was riding my eboard along MLK and as I approached the encampment a bunch of homeless people started wandering out into the middle of the road. Then they started having a fight which was blocking traffic. I had to turn around and go back from where I came to find another route. The homeless people had piled up a bunch of stuff all over the bike lanes so those were really hard to use. Just craziness all around.
Its. Excuses the law doesn't app,y to these people. Unlike the rest of us😊

It's not a housing problem - it's a behavioral problem.
The tent and tarp manufacturers will be sad to see the homeless leave the streets. The rest of us will be happy.
Pay them to answer 911 calls. Junkies will be at least as reliable as anyone else they've hired to date.
This isn’t a clean up, it’s a sweep! Everyone needs to know the difference. A sweep is when the city government uses its giant broom to sweep up all the homeless people into its giant dustpan and throws them away into a landfill for not having jobs! A cleanup is when the city workers give each homeless person a warm sponge bath with bubbles while roomservice cleans their sidewalk with power washer, takes out the massive piles garbage, and leaves fresh clean syringes on the pillow.
Most are homeless because they are substance abusers, mentally unbalanced, just plain lazy or some combination thereof. That doesn't justify allowing such public health and crime hazards as these giant encampments.

There are several large hotels off Hegenberger the city spent millions of tax dollars to convert and provide resources that sit barely used. Just like jobs, if you’re willing, they’re available.💁🏾♀️

Long overdue. Allowing people to do whatever they want is not acceptable.
They did this in West Berkeley a few months ago but 4 or 5 new mini camps opened up within a block or two of the camp that was bull-dozed. Can't fix this massive problem with a band-aid, Gavin Newsome.

In a normal country, the homeless would be sentenced to cleaning up encampments has hard labor for the damage they have done to our civilization.

The solution is forced relocation outside of major cities and suburbs. Develop housing outside of major population centers. The majority of California is raw vacant land most of it owned by the federal government or state government. You can build tons of housing and infrastructure for these people and relocate them to a safer area.

Now clear the encampment on e12th. From 14th and e12th down to 29th and e12th. So much violent crime, filth, wrecklessness, abandoned stolen cars. Drug use, electricity stealing, fire hazards. Please Oakland leaders shut this huge, dangerous encampment DOWN!
