This is actually their 4th single.
Their first single was an earlier version of West End Girls, produced by Bobby Orlando, and released in April 1984
Then, they released One More Chance, also produced by Bobby Orlando in June 1984.
Their third single, was Opportunies (Let's Make Lots of Money). This was released in July 1985.
This version was produced by J. J. Jeczalik (part of Art of Noise) and Nicholas Froome.
These were all produced and recorded before they even began working on their debut album, Please.
The July 1985 release of Opportunies was also their first single to have a music video.

One of the best British exports from the 1980's (and there were many). Big hit here in Trinidad and Tobago. Love how this was just the intro for what brilliance that was coming from their next album at the time. 💯❤💥👍

I can totally understand why people in Trinidad would like this, because the drum machine pattern has a bit of a soca rhythm to it plus the bass is on point too.

I was born in 1965, so was 20 when this came out...and, WAS dancing to it in the clubs. It was a glorious time and I would do it all over again. But, good to know younger generations enjoy it, too.
@@susannemcdaniel5782right? I was born in the early 90s but my mother would jam to a lot of these as I grew up, so I ended up falling in love with 70s and 80s music. Somehow I ended up getting into 60s on my own though lol.

I think you mean 1985, Neil Tennant was still writing for Smash Hits magazine back in 1983, I remember his last article when he said ‘I’m off to be a pop star now’ and that was late 1984.

Its hard for people to understand now (Steve Wright was right), but this song stood out like few others at the time. So atmospheric, but also danceable. I was 13 and it was one of the first 7" singles I bought and played and played and played and played until I knew it inside out. And it got me through a shitty time at a posh Surrey school I hated.
