I bought my 3008 Allure 1.2L petrol auto ten months ago and have not regretted my decision for a moment. I could have bought any one of the SUV's in the small/medium category but the 3008 suited my need the best. Sometimes we allow our perception and prejudice to overlook a good thing. I did not think I would ever buy a French car or a 1.2L 3 cylinder engine. I was talked into a test drive and purchased one on the spot. It's a brilliant bit of kit and works well on all types of road.
Buddy do you know what is Peugeot in the Europe rubish, I lived there for 30 years that's why I know. Looks nice in 1st view but after 80k everything start shaking, engine start to slow down, and exterior doesn't last long. I don' t whant to mention this new technology whch is more better than before, one friend of mine have MK5 2.0 L petrol engine 110 kw He is a taxi driver, in his clock you can see 600k and I said to him why you don't upgrade, he answer with " WHY" works perfect just do the service on time and js no need for upgrade. Don't listen this people they born in Australia and they whant to talk about European cars is funny yeah.
What about economy and service pricing? As in how much they'll actually cost to own... The Tiguan has a much better engine, but presumably results in far more trips to the petrol station?
ill go for the peugeot because first its cheaper than vw and both cars depreciate about the same so between the both i'll lose more in a vw than the peugeot
What is that pro VW test ?? This is so unprofessional ! You should have compared comparable versions with the same prices, power and level of equipements. The Tiguan has more equipements in standard, but it is 5000 dollars more expensive so I want to say FORTUNETELY it has those equipements in standard ! However, the 3008 stays cheaper with all options checked so... whatever. The Tiguan is more performant, but you chosed a more powerful and expensive version for the VW... The 3008 has a better manufactured interior, and you said nothing about it, it is also way better to drive, and for less expensive than the Tiguan you can buy the 5008 which way more spacious and has all the quality of the 3008. The first test I found saying the Tiguan is better is, of course, the worst one.
E Arthur Tiguan with similar power/performance would come in cheaper than 3008 and would have similar standard equipment. So then Tiguan would win on price? I wouldn’t call this review unprofessional. Just irrelevant. I personally would consider both cars if they offered a high output petrol engine - but only the Tiguan offers that. I would pay considerably more for whichever car offered a high performance petrol engine.
When you look at the spec’s on the GT line 3008. The only two extra’s you can spec is the Seats and Panoramic Roof. Everything else is standard equipment!
VW customer service sucks. They are great taking your money, but once they have it they don't want to hear about the multitude of issues with dsg's, engines and such. l for one will not be buying anything that comes with a VW or subsidiary badge; i.e. Skoda, Audi, Seat.
The world is sick of the same boring cockpits, 3008 is the boss in this department! Gives you the idea that you are driving a lambo for very cheap price.
Before every gets excited ruling out the Tiguan. It’s it’s highest end model. So you can get the SE NAV or SEL models for cheaper. If that is not good enough you can choose the SE or if you want to go cheaper you can pick the S base model. But at that point you’d be better off buying the more expensive 3008. And if you can do that then you can look look at the better Tiguan models...vicious cycle
A fancy upholstery is extra on a 3008? That is something you never encounter in a VW. They always put leather seats in the base model 😂😂😂😂😂 Those two wannabe car reviewers are completely clueless
Comparison of engines was misleading. The Peugeot is a considerably lighter vehicle, in real world driving thr relationship between torque and weight determines performance. Simply comparing numbers is a disservice to viewers. Lightweight review.
I am afraid of buying a Tiguan or any VW because I may fall asleep from boredom. If they offered driver sleep detection for standard I might consider them
Salvador Deli they chose the Tiguan! But really wasn’t a good comparison because of the engine choice. If they had of used the GT line 2.0l diesel in the 3008 it would of won hands down!
Owen Kett Petrol yes! But i can tell you personally all of my 2.0l Diesels Peugeot’s could do well over 1000’s k’s to a tank. Both of my 407’s 2.0l diesels did 1200 k’s plums to a tank! Diesel is king on the open road, but Petrol has the edge around town. But the 1.8l petrol engine otherwise known as the “princess Engine” is extremely economical as well. And not to mention the power they have managed to get out of that engine is amazing!
Did you see the difference in power? Its not small, its significant. These are not in the same class. The clueless reviews would not ever realise that.
I am from opposite side of globe;) But: Tiguan was my choice and winner. Not sure price ranges in Australia, but here in Europe ms priority list was: Tiguan, Kodiaq (Skoda - similar to Tiguan), KIA Sportage. 3008 was middle choice. Worst participant was RAV4 hybrid - it was ergonomic nightmare.
In bright sunlight you can't read the 3008 virtual dash, having no physical controls for the climate is annoying. When you go to reverse into a space the start stop cuts in before you select R. These are not problems on my Tiguan SEL. The Peugeot is a stylish car to sit in but in diesel form not as economical at the more powerful Tig. Plus the Tiguan has a better build quality and is fun to drive. The 4wd giving fantastic traction in all weather's , including snow whilst on summer tyres. On fast cornering you can feel the power being shuffled to give maximum traction out of a corner. The dsg gearbox is also a better mix with a diesel engine. The control layout is typical VW , the 3008 whilst stylish does not have controls that fall to hand. This is based on 2000 miles in the 3008 and 4000 in the Tiguan.
How about not telling BS, it seems like you have never even set in 3008. I have one and I live in Israel, I do think I have much more sunlight than you ever will. The display stays sharp and not once it went blind. The physic climate control is not needed when you have auto, it adjust just fine even in a very hot environment like mine. The traction of a 3008 is good and no problems when ever doing trails or sandy beaches. And having lots of friends that own car parts shops and garages, all of them said in one voice "DSG" is a pure ever braking nightmare. After only 2 day, all the controls of 3008 were native to me.
No axe to grind. In Feb this year low sun meant the display could not be read! If I hadn't had one to do 2000 miles would I know that there are no physical climate controls! Perhaps in your country you get a high res display than UK models in GT spec.
Mark Laingold I have a 3008 (8 months old) and I hate it. Paul is correct on everything he mentions. Currently looking to replace it with absolutely anything except a Peugeot.......
I lolled at the comments re the 3008, having owned one for 2 years, there is no issue with glare on the dials, you can still happily see the speed you are doing, the diesel is more economical and cleaner than the vw offering, the new EAT8 gearbox is a delight to use and there is no issue of the engine cutting out (s/s) when going into reverse. So lets look at the vw... the dsg is horrid in low speed traffic, has a mind of its own, the quality in side is overall poorer compared to the 3008 (as noted by most of the reviewers, cheap plastics low down and in the rear). Towing for the 1.6 3008 is 1600kg, more than enough for a caravan, the dervs are better for that though. There is a reason the 3008 won car of the year and the vw didnt, its just a better car than the vw.
Tiguan has a lot more technology: Car-Net with Guide & Inform, Google , Online Traffic Information, Destination Import, Online POI Search, POI Voice Search, Area View, Trailer Assist, Active Info Display, App-Connect, 4MOTION, 4MOTION Active Control, 3 Zone climate control, knee airbag, Adaptive cruise control, Driver profile selection, PreCrash preventative occupant protection, Battery regeneration, Coasting function,Fully adjustable rear seats, Dynamic light assist , etc, etc And in the end, the Tiguan offers better interior space, a far better overall quality, and it will maintain its value for longer.
Sorry may seem like a stupid question... How can the Tiguan take the win? You are not comparing apples for apples here! The 3008 is much lighter, so straight away it’s towing capacity will be less, this version has a the smaller engine, should of hade the 2.0l variant. The Interior of the 3008 is way better!
Even based on the figures provided here the Peugeot wouldn’t even register on my radar, nice car and a good chunk of change cheers but the spec of the VW more than makes up for that.
They must have looked at the tow capacity incorrectly. The old 3008 petrol had a tow rating of 1600kg and 2000kg for the diesel. The number they mentioned is for an unbraked trailer. The Peugeot also has digital instruments as standard which is optional in the VW.
The 2.0l diesel has much more torque and also the GT trim gives you everything including lane assist, auto speed adaption(I.e will adjust cruise control to match speed signs) and the electric tail. Personally the interior of the 3008 looks miles ahead!!
Not to mention the Tiguan is a danger to those driving it......The real possibility of the driver falling asleep behind the wheel. Because it;'s sooooooooooooo boring to be in. "Snooze Fest"

How can you compare a 4x4 with a Fr WD? How can you compare a 2l to a 1.6
?
I've got the 3008 gt line with the 1200 engine, I simply don't understand how it manages to be both powerful and efficient. It's a great car to own.
Tiguan looks like it is from the 90ties and 3008 is like car from the future.

KING0SISQO the Tiguan with the same level equipment is more expensive. Sorry to brake your bubble
No way
, the Peugeot is far better and 5000 cheaper, that’s a winner.
Now let’s see the true cost of both vehicles. I bet the new 3008 is the better option.
$48k for Tiguan with 162TSI, R Line and Virtual Cockpit? Misleading review!
I have a GT line i was about to buy a Merceds c or Lexus nx but when i saw this Bae couldn’t resist
Thats hilarious!!!!
@@thejohnson9204 i live in saudi so peugoet consider rare and unique with these options it looks modest

AKTINODIAGNOSI BACKUP What they forgot to add Leather is standard as well in the GT line 3008! The watch buckle seats is the optional extra!
Tiguan falls well behind in aesthetics and price.
But slams the Pug in performance. These are not in the same class.

This comes across like a paid ad for Volkswagen.
I have the 3008 :)
I didn't understand anything cause of their Australian accent!!! Please somebody tell me; which one did they choose?
Salvador Deli they chose the Tiguan! But really wasn’t a good comparison because of the engine choice. If they had of used the GT line 2.0l diesel in the 3008 it would of won hands down!
Sheldon Gannon no chance. Not in Australia anyway. VW 162tsi petrol engine is years ahead of any Diesel engine. Petrol is still king in Aus
Owen Kett Petrol yes! But i can tell you personally all of my 2.0l Diesels Peugeot’s could do well over 1000’s k’s to a tank. Both of my 407’s 2.0l diesels did 1200 k’s plums to a tank! Does 'Pug' understand that cars maybe used for towing more than a flatpack kitchen?
1969cmp the 2.0l diesel will give you heaps more torque in the 3008!! I had the old 2.0l diesel in my older 3008 and noooo power issues there at all!
Sheldon Gannon Goodo. Thanks for the input.
Great Car Comparison. The Volkswagen Tiguan Model featured was a R-Line as there was a Logo on the front of the Car
The 30008 was the GT Line as well. Same same.
