I want to point out something else the commentators seem to be ignorant about. Actually, the music of Zagitova's program is from the Don Quixote grand pas de deux. That particular segment starts slower and builds up to a finale of jumps and spins in the ballet, just like this program. So if they want to blame the program construction they can first blame the ballet for "backloading" the ballet jumps. lol
Curious Curious lol backloading is still backloading tho. Thankfully the rules have now changed but I agree with the commentators, it’s not interesting when all the jumps are in the second half. Also she is starting to jump in the adagio section of the music which means it’s an obvious way to get more points. Don’t take this the wrong way tho. I love Zagitova just not the choreography or the way she is coached
Composition means balance with respect to the program, and the music. NOT symmetrical. The ballet of DQ escalates towards the end, and that is what this program does. Also, all her jumps are in time with the music and she hits all the nuances and accents. THAT is good composition. How do people mistake that for "symmetrical"?
Exactly. The PDD itself is backloaded with the fouttes etc at the end. Also just because something is not a jump doesn't mean it's nothing. Spins and footwork is important too.
It would be balanced i she did amazing skating at the beginning of the program so it was exciting all the way through. Shes an average skater so it's pretty boring. And if this is meant to mimic the ballet she needs ballet lessons because her ballet is atrocious
MsJubjubbird We can just disagree I feel like I've had this argument with you before. I am a ballet dancer in the Canadian National Ballet and I love her ballet on ice. I think she is far more than "an average skater". But okay, that's your opinion. She does have tons of ballet training, Alina dance en pointe
None of Eteris' skaters have good ballet training. i could dance en pointe again but it would not be pretty. Ballet is not skating either. Ballet on ice needs flow and you have to keep moving. But if you do ballet then you'd get when I say something like her twizzles are the equivalent of someone doing a pirouette on half releve or her extensions are like doing a leap with bent legs and your arms all over the place. In ballet it would be wrong and in skating, skating without proper edges or crooked lines is not correct.
Listen, I don't care about one backloaded program but if this is where the sport is going I am not a fan (I don't mean Alina, Alina is a lovely skater). The bonus rule was implemented to discourage front loading a program. Skaters are going to do whatever they can to increase their score, but as backloading becomes more prominent we end up with the same unbalanced programs we were trying to avoid. I can see a situation years down the line when everyone will backload because of the points which in the end lessons skaters ability to be creative in their choreography. I'm fine with a bonus, but I think the bonus rule needs to be re examined with a potential limit on it. Doing so would not negatively affect technically gifted skater. They'll still get high GOE which will positively impact their scores. I am also a little confused by the comments calling this trash commentary. They say multiple times that Alina is amazing and compliment her. The points they bring up are valid and if you're going to skate senior you have to be prepared for critique. Full disclosure- I am from the USA but the skaters I cheer for are Anna Pogorilaya and Wakaba Higuchi. The only North American skaters I really care about are the Shibs and Jason Brown. Most skating fans love skaters from many different countries.
She beautiful. Her program is beautiful. Her skates beautiful. Her jumps beautifully done. Her moment beautiful gold worthy. The only ugly just the voice and says by the commentators. So annoyed.
Am I the only one who thinks that this program is beautiful? I think her presentation is artistic, has a strong and consistent theme, and she actually showcases her beautiful line. I think that the first half of the program is an homage to skating in general (i.e. no jumps). And then when she does jump, not only are they the most difficult jumping passes, they are elegant and ladylike. Plus, her edges on those jumps are perfect. This girl has got everything, and is the only one who got a chance to beat Evgena (save perhaps Kaetlyn or Gracie on their best days). Shame on the commentators for being so rude. I usually like their commentary, but this time out it has a tinge of being, I dunno, anti-Russian. Well, duh, it's David Pelletier and that's understandable, I think. Oh well, like what another poster said, I'm gonna switch over to Eurosport from now on.
Tress Braga I agree! I actually like the program, and the jumps in the second half also suit the changing mood of the music. But the Canadian commentators' comments were pretty distasteful and almost personal. Comparing the first half of a skater's program to a bathroom break? That's just an awful and ugly thing to say.
People who say her program is horrible because shes backloading and then protect their favorite skater “who has more artistry and beautiful to watch” by saying jumping isnt everything and artistry matters are so hypocritical! If jumping isn’t everything and artistry truly matters to you then why can’t we say the same about Alina?
"Nothing is happening" Meanwhile Zagitova's program is so technically busy she doesn't even hold any position for long 😂😂 In case you forgot, jumps aren't everything. Geez.
Simtopia 23 Yep she does those well, especially the spirals. I meant while the commentators were going on and on about nothing happening in the first half, things were in fact happening 😂
Everyone is so butthurt about Zagitova using the system and want her to lose the points she gained by doing her jumps in the second half..if there wasn't an advantage no one would jump in the second half. Most skaters wouldn't be able to pull that off cleanly. Some even admit that they couldn't do that because they lack the technical skill.
I think the most important thing is that people not get mad at Zagitova and instead get mad at the ISU for creating a system which prefers unloaded programs.
Omg, the commentator said "the judges don't understand what they are watching"? "This is not a well-balanced program"? This program's music structure and composition is a shortened form of Don Quixote grand pas de deux where it starts with sets of steps and ends with jumps and "spins" (pirouettes and fouettes) from the ballet performers. If Zagitova adapts the ballet and changes it by frontloading or mid-loading the jumps, it would be an insult to the ballet itself! Also, is he so ignorant and doesn't understand what he's watching because he thinks NOTHING of the Level 4 Step Sequences full of difficult moves (Charlotte, Ina Bauer, Illusion, Split Jumps, Twizzles, etc.) and the best Level 4 Spins of the event? He should have spent the first 2 minutes describing what Zagitova was doing to his audience instead of b*tching. So unprofessional.
I love Alina! I hope she stops backloading because she doesn't have to do it. Her jumps and SS are enough to get her on the podium. I also love it how she executes her difficult footwork
That moment when CBC starts to understand that there is smb who can easily beat Osmond😂 Alina got 144 at her first gran prix. It is more than Kaetlyn have ever gotten. Good job, Alina. You made everybody nervous😉
Ioseb Dzamukashvili the world is also fed up with ongoing and never ending hatred toward Russia, based on pure envy and fear of a GREAT NATION! Just deal with the fact that Medvedeva and Zagitova are a universe above your mediocre skaters, and your dirty mouth can do nothing about it.
Of course of course, mediocre, you know nothing about figure skating I will tell you, you are just in love with everything Russian and you do not look at what shit programmes Eteri produces and plays with scores which will be changed soon I hope. and yes we do not like Russia, despite the fact that unlike you i dont mix politics up with sport I will tell you, we do not like Russia cuz it is not likeable at all. The nation who kills innocent people, supports Asad in Syria, bombs Ukraine and Georgia and has terrible domestic policy, autocracy. How can anyone even like this country? :D
P.S. Eteri tutberidze's roots are Georgian and even name and her surname are Georgian but I will repeat these skaters skate terribly! They just jumps and that's it!, so there is nothing of the thing that i do not like Medvedeva and Zaguitova cuz they are Russians. I was a fan of Tuktamysheva once and Radionova too and I do not care what country skaters come from to be honest.
Kurt has given these criticisms to skaters all season especially finishing on the toe pick. to be honest, Katelyn is one of the few women who actually finish her jumps in the air before landing though her flip can be pre-rotated.
Jesus, the commentators! Sport IS about taking advantage of the system! It has always been. You'd better teach your own skaters some graceful balletic moves LOL
There is no balance in this program, and it’s not even reflected on the PCS, don’t know why people get offended, the bonus was introduced to not front load the program, but what’s the point of it now if you are not jumping at all in the first half, you are not tired!!!
Balance in PCS means balance to the music. IF you watch the ballet, the fouettes build at the END. And her jumps match the music. Balance in PCS does not mean symmetrical. It's fine if you don't like it, but that's not the rules. And it's fine if you don't agree with the rules, I don't either, but that doesn't mean those aren't the rules.
then the original ballet Don Quixote grand pas de deux is "unbalanced" because it is exactly like this with steps and move in the beginning and jumps and fouettes at the end. lol. You should complain to all the ballet goers that one of their most beloved ballets is "unbalanced". :D
So if a well-beloved ballet that starts with steps and climaxes in jumps accompanied by the music that matches isn't considered "unbalanced" by millions, a skating program based faithfully on this same structure to the same music is "unbalanced" to you, and it means you're right and the millions who love this ballet and this structure wrong?
You're right, and not only fouettes but jumps too. Watch on RUclips Don Quixote grand pas de deux (not Kitri's variations) for the same musical segment. It ends with huge jumps and fouettes. Zagitova has to keep to the principle and concept of the ballet. If she starts jumping in the beginning it will ruin the ballet story structure.
I literally didn't recognize the CBC commentators at first. I thought these were different people talking because they're usually not so STRAIGHT UP FUCKING BITTER with their comments lol
With everyone saying the commentating is "trashy", give me a break. They're saying facts, they never say she's bad. They point out that she underrotates (which she does sometimes - i'm looking at that 3Lz) but that it's less than a quarter turn so its forgiven by the judges. They say that they don't like the composition of program. They're allowed their opinions. I happen to agree. The british commentators say the same thing, only that she's playing the system which is her right to do. Also, basically every countries commentators will favor the skaters from their countries (USA, Russia, France all do it - UK don't really but that's mostly because there are no real top british skaters so it's easier to be objective). Everyone needs to relax, if you blindly love skaters without being able to acknowledge that they have faults that's your business, but it's getting old.
Her Lutz was not forgiven by the judges - she got an under rotation call, what are you talking about? They're allowed to say they don't like the program. That's not the problem. Other commentators have said that too. The problem is they said "you can take a bathroom break or go make popcorn" and "there's nothing going on" which is false because that completely disregards her jumps and flying camel spin. THAT is what makes them unprofessional. No one has a problem with them saying they don't like composition. It's the way they said it. That is the definition of professionalism - the way you say it, not the actual point
essa leigh I relistened to it and I see your point. He did say there's not much going on in terms of jumps, but it's still crude. He probably thought it as just a joke but you're right in that being unprofessional.
Yeah it doesn't matter if it's a joke. Should not be said. Because these programs are not jokes for these ladies who have trained their whole lives. Just like when Tarasova (Russian) says skaters are "fat" as a joke. Also not funny and very unprofessional. And I also dont like how these guys say "Alina is lucky enough hat she has technical ability and is musical" I don't think luck has to do with it, she's worked very hard to get there. To get the stamina, it's not like she walked out of the womb and could do what she does. I think that needs to be appreciated. Skaters who are like Marin - don't get me wrong I like her a lot - but her coach consistently says she doesn't like to practice and doesn't train enough. There is something to be said about skaters like Alina who trains very hard to get where she is
I've discovered this Cup of China 2017 video only now, but I'm very disgusted by the attitude of the commentators here. Some of them are talking about their impression and that's fine, but one of them is very unfair and harsh commenting her performance. So funny Alina did everyone shut up and was wonderful during the 2018 Olympics, it was very satisfying! She demonstrated how much was skilled, a program like her Don Quixote is really hard even for skaters today. I also was skeptical at first when I was reading about this totally jump backloading program, but both her SP than her FS were really exciting to watch, like a "crescendo"! Very inspiring.
Hello, i'm also rewatching Alina's performances before the olympics. Growing a bit nostalgic... this was a great program. Definitely the commentators were very rude. There is nothing going on on the first 2 mins?? They are blind, alina did a beautiful ina bauer, step sequence and very difficult spin.
I don't really perceive the commentators as rude. They praise Zagitova as a skater but just take issue with the choreography and layout of the program, which is fair. I say this as a big fan of Alina and think her "Black Swan" and "Don Quixote" programs are wonderful.
Clearly Osmond and Daleman cant do a 3z+3l combo! And thats why they Lost the Olympic Gold. Shame on these commentators! Alina trained hard for her success and challenges the system by demonstrating difficult technique with a balletic program to balance. Seriously skating has evolved so much those commentators are stuck in their old days with triple toes, now theres quads! Get with the program haters ;)
They criticized all the skaters. Daleman was criticized as well and Kurt called out every underrotation he saw from all the skaters. So were Alina to be Canadian, she would still be judged. This is more professional judging than commentators that praise everyone and calling those jumps textbook when they are nowhere near textbook.
Uh, they didn't criticize Osmond on how she is the exact opposite of a swan. This is not professional commentary at all. They are only criticizing Alina because they know she is better than Kaetlyn. And her black swan program is miles better too
Shame to the commentators ! What a disgusting way to try insult a skater for trying to win a competition. She is capable of doing all her jumps in the second half and it is allowed, so what ? And I really loved how Alina made them shut up during last two minutes which was cruelly criticized by them in the beginning :)
Actually she needed an edge call and an UR and didn't get it so not really. The judges were way generous. The problem is her skating in the first half isn't great so she can't carry the program for two minutes of nothing. I'm glad they introduced a no backloading rule because I can't have another season of this
If she and Evgenia don't compete at the Olympics, it will be missing the two strongest female skaters in the world (they both have the highest totals as per GP this season). Banning Russia from the Olympics is extremely unfair. Ban those who dope. Not all athletes. Figure skaters do not dope, and doping does not help figure skating. Yes they can compete under the neutral flag, but Putin will not let them. It's not even their decision to make. As if they go and the government doesn't want them to, they will be a disgrace to their country and not only would they lose sponsors, their safety will be at risk in Russia was well. This is a 15 year old girl who has trained her whole life. She earned her scores, and she should be allowed at the Olympics.
i didn't expected much from a pair skating guy, with a fake gold medal. but kurt browning is just died for me. although his ur calls are hilarious, especially when he downgraded a clean 3Lo. the funny part is that kurt gave a lot of praises to this program at junior worlds, but now he realised that osmond is in danger, and here we go
I remember these commentators liking this program at junior worlds too. Also, those underrotation comments were just confusing. I really don't understand why they were said since a jump can be called clean if it's up to 1/4 under, and even though the landings we saw weren't all perfectly flat backwards, they were mostly within the "clean jump" range (and certainly not worthy of a downgrade like the comment that was made).
there is a solo 3Lz, which seems borderlinde UR (and was called UR by the judges, that's why alina's TES dropped from 79 to 76). and kurt gladly noticed during a skate that 3Lz is probably UR. but while this jump looks underrotated in real time, in slow motion it's not so obvious. i think it realy confused him, and he mixed up 3Lzs, and started to complain about a perfectly clean 3Lz-3Lo combo during a replay. which really showed how biased he is. and i just laughed about his remark, that this russian UR is so evil and well hided that "even in slow mo it's hard to tell"
Oh yeah that solo lutz did walk the line. I believe the other jumps were fine--plus the comment about not seeing and penalizing underrotations even in slow-mo makes no sense to me. I mean...they literally zoomed in on her feet and the landing mark on the ice real dang closely. I'm not sure what they see, but from what's visible in this video, she's probably not getting dinged for underrotated jumps because...they're not? Lol. That whole commentary was confusing
Yeah, as a Canadian I am so ashamed of these people. I too remember them liking it in junior worlds. Well, Alina is definitely better than Osmond (and better than Medvedeva too). She's not just a challenge to Osmond maybe getting silver, she's the biggest challenge to get olympic gold from Evgenia
technically alina is slightly better than medvedeva. but as far as PCS goes, i don't think so. she's a good skater, but the problem is, that eteri has a plenty of junior girls, who is already better than alina, both technically and PCS wise. so she has only 2 years, untill shcherbakova, trusova and kostornaia will turn senior
Wow...I didn't expect them to go so candid...but they are right ladies figure skating is just a mess right now. Nothing against Alina, she is doing what the system demands. It's the ISU who should fix the situation
They're not wrong; this isn't a well-balanced program. Her jumps are fantastic, but I'd love to see her jump throughout the program and bump up her skating skills.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the most a quarter under would receive in 2017 would've been a single carrot under rotation call. So no, that would not have been a downgrade...
The commentators are actually DOWN TO EARTH. Thanks god. This isn’t even close to a well-balanced program. This isn’t ballet, this is figure skating. So things should NOT always match. I know I will get hate, but am I wrong? No. The marks should be low if this is not fair and not well-balanced. And should’ve gotten an UR on both Lutz, and a DG on the Loop. But no, not called because she’s Russian. :(. It’s so sad to see these kids work hard and get judged unfairly. This sport is ruined.
I love the comments!!!!..... It´s honest, direct and straight to the point. An unbalanced program and a Ballet Costume doesn´t change it!!!!...... Receiving amazing comments would not chance the perception of the public, like I think it represents!!!!!
Because comparing someone's program to a bathroom break is a necessary truth? No, in all honesty, though they had some good points, the commentators made some very personal and ugly comments
Because no jumping is happening in the beginning, its ok to grab popcorn or take a bathroom break like when you are watching a movie in the movie theater its a reality, I don't think he said her program is like bathroom break.
Then you people shouldn't come up with ideas like "figure skating became all about jumps!!1!1!1" because you are clearly ignoring the other required elements. So the two required sequences and a spin with a flying entrance is worth nothing because you want to see jumps? Alina executes all the elements well and just because she wanted to hide the jumps to the part of the program where the music starts to get exciting makes her boring? What are step sequences then? Some weird movements that are not jumps? Is this how you watch figure skating?
Finally someone spoke the truth. I came specifically for the comments because it is hilarious. The ISU is very corrupt and good for the commentators for voicing what many fans have on their minds on national television. That composition score must definitely go down if you're to backload your program.
i am happy You have mistaken what the composition remark means. And also a well-balanced program is a program with all the elements, the placement of those elements don’t matter.
I think these people are dumb.... if you back load your program it's unbalanced because you're doing nothing for 2 mins then 2 mins of rushing to jumps not paying attention to the music. So how about you learn the IJS before you start spewing shit
Rokinco We just so happen to get our info from the official ISU rules which state that the placement of the elements don’t matter. The “balanced program” might as well be called a “complete program”. All the elements are done in that program, which, according to ISU rules, makes it balanced.
Lol figure skating is not only about jumping, when u put your jumps in the program cant define the whole program as boring or what. Her program is beautiful and unique as well. Its disappointing sport commentators insult an athlete. Poor👏
Wow, so many butthurt comments but when Tarasova insults a lot of people in her commentary everyone is fine with that. Ok.Not saying I agree with them, but for me it's the same as Tarasova calling skaters fat and so on. Unprofessional people are everywhere.
Tarasova has never been that rude, she has always nice things to say for all the skaters, even those she doesn't like. She has never said to go to the bathroom assuming the artistry of a skater is irrelevant. That's insulting.
Alina fills the first half with beautifil elegant movements that are captivating. People usually defend Kostner by saying jumping isnt everyting and Carolina is beautiful to watch and blah blah. But then come and bash this program because she jumps at the end?! You said yourself that jumping is not more important than artistry so why do you care if she jumps in the beginning or at the end?
Or maybe just apply the current rules as they should be? Like the commentators are saying? Technical part is worth a reward, it's PCS that should show that she looks like she is stretching (admitedly, with devotion) for a two minute jumping sprint. Oh, this would also resolve technical development vs artistry problem! But who cares what's the good solution, because I'm sure not ISU. Sorry, I kind of used your comment as a start for my rant, I didn't mean to do that T.T
Milana161 do you just consider step sequences stretching? Because they're actually really difficult (and a lot of skaters struggle with this more than the actual jump) and she has the MOST difficult step sequence which takes a lot more energy than everyone else's. Do you also then think that ice dancing is just "stretching"? And flying camel spin? Say it's unsymmetrical program and I can agree with you, but she is definitely not "stretching" in the first half
I'm a Canadian and I support Canadian skaters whom I like - I happen to like Osmond and Daleman( wouldn't want all skaters to be the same, variety is good). But, yeah some Canadians tend to toward bias and it's annoying and I don't really agree with it. These Canadian's get weird with their sports. Personally, I am probably favouring the Japanese skaters right now(I find them to have the nicest balance) - and I'd trade "our" third ladies spot for one of their ladies. Chartrand just hasn't proven she can put it together. There's definitely going to be a Japanese lady left at home that I'll wish was in S. Korea.
Rosalina 90 So true. The same thing can be said about the USA lol. Bradie is the only one who hasn't been struggling that hard with consistency unlike Ashley and Karen.
Jorge Bonilla The PCS chart says this about Composition. “An intentionally developed and/or original arrangement of all types of movements according to the principles of musical phrase, space, pattern, and structure.” Backloading is actually quite fitting for Don Quixote.
I love Alina but Jesus, these comments give me live! 😂😂 I never knew Canadians can be so bald but I *love* it. The shade!! Never laughed so much during figure skating video, haha. Someone's feeling threatened? 😈 But they made some good points too. Just A++
according to the first guy, frontloaded programs from the past, with skaters trying to land their jumps as fast as they can, were ok and pretty well balanced. but backloading is evil and should be punished in the PCS. i see a very good point here. lol. he doesn't sound hypocritical at all
"Someone's feeling threatened?" honestly the commentators, they are clearly envious that Medvedeva, Zagitova, Kostner and Higuchi are now ahead of Osmond.
Ummm, are we listening to different commentaries? Because I just came to the whole back and frontloading part, and here, let me transcribe it for you: "When we skated, everything was most likely front loaded, we wanted to have it landed." Considering they are speaking about the 'Olympian cannot fall' (to borrow B.Orser's words) era, it's pretty logical sentence, and I don't hear anything about frontloaded program being better balanced than backloaded one. That's the comparision of most popular tactics then and now (No bonus for second half+fall being more costly than a pop in 6.0 vs exact opposite right now) is actually quite good to explain to let casual viewer understand why the hell they see something very differently composed to the rest of the ladies' programs, and why commentators find it a bold move, at the same time understanding the reasons of that move (Bonussss) As I see it, some butts are hurt on both sides, and people are shocked that those 'Meeky, polite, apologetic' Canadians actually can joke and criticize (they're human! What a surprise), and because they have opinion AND a skater in contention, other side also assume that it's an attack on the rival skater in Olympic season (politicking, politicking...). Meanwhile, Kurt says that Alina is good, musical skater with a showman talent, so she can pull off even something as bold as 10 jumps in just under two minutes (which actually is incredible, and they say that as well, even if they don't like it). I'm... not sure where the attack is here? Just saying, if they don't like it, they will say it, and they might be right or wrong- that's the point of being human, of any country, really.
Awful commentating....So biased towards Canadian skaters its not even funny. Zagitova will be the next Medvedeva in my opinion. She's very talented and so young!! Great skate here for Alina.
E se la devo dire tutta io non sopporto duamel radford lei è antipatica maleducata e pure brutta io tifo tarasova morozov, ma mi vanno bene tutti basta che non vincano loro
if that is truth, so what about the choreo from Osmond? Do they know that swans should be more or less balletic, not chaotic? They are just riling up their spectators against those, who can beat Osmond.
This has to do with Zagitova's skating, not Osmond's. If you listen to their commentary on other skaters, Zagitova isn't the only one they have constructive criticism for. I'm not sure what balletic has to do with this, but Zagitova certainly isn't even though she pretends to with the tutu. Wakaba should have won this competition. That Zagitova had higher PCS is outrageous.
Там есть один чел, ОС ник, его постоянно лайкают профили, у которых с 2015 года нет ни одного сообщения. По-моему, в правилах запрещено твинков заводить. Надо будет почитать.
Commentators are not very good! It's unpleasant to talk during the performance of an athlete! In Canada, it's so accepted !? Athletes are not respected, except their own (((
I don't think people understand what's at hand here. They're speaking the truth about how the sport is judged and how russians are getting away with it just so they can always get 1st place. Only one of her 3Under rotations were called that night, and she also got a 13 point personal best for the same program in just 3 months...
U can’t judge only comment. Judge give her highest number for her. And can’t be judge place never ever. U did fool in ur past skating every one. I saw I got Shoken. How u skate.
They’re being harsh but there’s truth to it. Alina’s a fantastic skater but backloading your program isn’t a well balanced program and the problem with the ISU these days is that they don’t show that in their component scoring, they still give marks when the program has nothing for the first half and is rushed in the end.
Love the commentators....they tell you the truth in her program. Her jumps are almost all poorly executed. She just had the ability to hit the ice a little under rotated.😀
I want to point out something else the commentators seem to be ignorant about. Actually, the music of Zagitova's program is from the Don Quixote grand pas de deux.
David, your performance at the Olympic was a perfect time to take a toilet break for sure.
Cool Snowman Ouch. Whats his last name?
Yes, it was 🙌. How can they be so rude omg
She beautiful. Her program is beautiful. Her skates beautiful. Her jumps beautifully done. Her moment beautiful gold worthy. The only ugly just the voice and says by the commentators. So annoyed.
They right tho. Even when she’s jumping it’s boring. She has no performance value.
Max Montiel you are ugly 😂
It would be a homage to skating if she had some good skating skills and connected with the music.
They were so rude really. Can they jump like she did? How she work so hard to become like her now. Shame on them!!
the commentators are absolute morons
At 6:55 " It's frustrating for me as a fan of the sport". Kurt you probably wanted to say " as a fan of Kaetlyn Osmond"
I think Alina has the most artistry. Timing to music, meaningful movements. She never stops moving!
Five years later but I found the answer to that, most figure skating fans have no taste, are stupid or either blind to real art
the commentators are so right lmao. i wish more commentators would call out scoring, skating technique, scoring etc now
How can I put thumbs up for Alina and thumbs down for commentators?
I'd like to do the same, but unfortunately it's impossible
How do i put a thumbs down for corrupt judges who don't know how to do their job? And also a thumbs down for her coach who starves hundreds of kids
Rokinco you're an idiot.
Rokinco Starves? Barely. Lol Yulia left Turberitze a long time ago. Hopefully Yulia recovers soon.
She won't recover because the physical trauma Eteri put her through made her quit. The only people to blame is yourselves for pressuring her.
i'm cackling at the commentators they're my heroes
2A3T is clean , single 3F ribbon a little bit pre-rotation , 3Lz3L pre-rotation on Lutz and slightly UR 3L
I'm loving the commentators, there's no use sugar coating things. It's super important to keep the audience interested with a well balanced program.
holy moses this little Russian is beautiful, never never heard or seen her....wow!!
"Nothing is happening"
Meanwhile Zagitova's program is so technically busy she doesn't even hold any position for long 😂😂
In case you forgot, jumps aren't everything. Geez.
she holds her back spiral and the ina bauer well actually.
Simtopia 23 Yep she does those well, especially the spirals. I meant while the commentators were going on and on about nothing happening in the first half, things were in fact happening 😂
Right. Her program was loaded to death lol
The commentators have smelt danger for kaetlyn osmond
Even if he is so unprofessional, it is still an unbalanced program.
They arent nervous, the world is fed up watching Alina's and Medvedeva's fake terrible programmes/
Calm down)
Using the first half of Alina’s program as a bathroom break?? Trash commentary 😐
Laura Quinto it's true though.....
True to you maybe. But there are people who enjoy it still and his comment is offensive to those people.
Ok. I’ll watch it again with the British Eurosport commentators.
Kurt has given these criticisms to skaters all season especially finishing on the toe pick. to be honest, Katelyn is one of the few women who actually finish her jumps in the air before landing though her flip can be pre-rotated.
@@vistaprime He is the biggest moron I've ever listened to. Even Russian commentators aren't that biased.
I didnt know ballet had 3lutz-3loop, 2axel-3toe etc! Oh my!! I though i was making a comment about FIGURE SKATING, TES and PCS! not about ballet.
They are 100% right though. Their components are ridiculously overscored
I'm Canadian and generally like CBC commentary but this was awful. Alina is magical and definitely better than Osmond (and maybe Medvedeva too)
Nope.
Ioseb Dzamukashvili Sure 🙄 Osmond's lutz is better than Alina's 🙄🙄 and Osmond never pops jumps 🤔
I muuuch prefer Zagitova to Medvedeva. I can't deal with the arm whacking and flutzing.
Amen. And flutz
The commentators are disgusting. I'm sure If Alina were Canadian, they would say completely different things about her.
And her black swan program is miles better too
Osmond wasn't even in this competition....what are you talking about...
Obviously. But at SC.
i am happy what about wrong edge in lutz? Daleman has fluz 3 times:)) and no one says about it:)))
Ojalá estos comentaristas también se quejen de que no se penaliza el filo de entrada en el lutz de Osmond 🙄
I think the commentary is spot on. Not mean - just acknowledging the truth here.
Coach Planner yup and now she won the olympics. Those commentators reeeallyyy knew what they were talking about didn’t they?
i didn't expected much from a pair skating guy, with a fake gold medal. but kurt browning is just died for me. although his ur calls are hilarious, especially when he downgraded a clean 3Lo. the funny part is that kurt gave a lot of praises to this program at junior worlds, but now he realised that osmond is in danger, and here we go
I remember these commentators liking this program at junior worlds too.
I don't like backloading much either but you have to admit that landing all those jumps at the end of the program is impressive!
They're not wrong; this isn't a well-balanced program. Her jumps are fantastic, but I'd love to see her jump throughout the program and bump up her skating skills.
uh elena radionova wasnt old enough for sochi
She is not only lucky she is love skating
Yup definitely time to take a bathroom break during a 2018 Olympic GOLD winning number
Bravo, Alina!!!
I love the comments!!!!..... It´s honest, direct and straight to the point. An unbalanced program and a Ballet Costume doesn´t change it!!!!...... Receiving amazing comments would not chance the perception of the public, like I think it represents!!!!!
These are the best commentators!!who says the truth! But this so true!!
Ignorant.
Kurt just stop please
Accurate jumps plz
From Canada with Love :[
Finally someone spoke the truth. I came specifically for the comments because it is hilarious. The ISU is very corrupt and good for the commentators for voicing what many fans have on their minds on national television. That composition score must definitely go down if you're to backload your program.
i am happy You have mistaken what the composition remark means. And also a well-balanced program is a program with all the elements, the placement of those elements don’t matter.
Haikal Danial Exactly. There is no rule saying they must jump x times by this point and x times afterwards.
Rokinco So ya, maybe check out the ISU rules before making your comment.
I’m here purely for the commentators!!hahahah love them for telling the truth!!! Love the new guy and Kurt too,
I love the commentators .... Hahahaha they are savage
Lol figure skating is not only about jumping, when u put your jumps in the program cant define the whole program as boring or what. Her program is beautiful and unique as well. Its disappointing sport commentators insult an athlete. Poor👏
It's not well balanced? who's that man to say what is good and what is not good...God?
It is not zAgitOva, it is ZagItova
Бл..... Я не только за наших красавиц, но заткните этот словесный понос кто-нибудь. Что за треш. Хотя может это отвертка Журанкову))))
Wow, so many butthurt comments but when Tarasova insults a lot of people in her commentary everyone is fine with that. Ok.Not saying I agree with them, but for me it's the same as Tarasova calling skaters fat and so on. Unprofessional people are everywhere.
gwirith14 it's because russians are butthurt
No one agrees with Tarasova calling skaters fat... she's fat. Just like no one agrees with these commentators, they're jealous
Some of us can’t argue about those comments because we don’t understand them 😭
Tarasova has never been that rude, she has always nice things to say for all the skaters, even those she doesn't like. She has never said to go to the bathroom assuming the artistry of a skater is irrelevant. That's insulting.
Tarasova has called skaters fat in her commentary
Alina fills the first half with beautifil elegant movements that are captivating. People usually defend Kostner by saying jumping isnt everyting and Carolina is beautiful to watch and blah blah. But then come and bash this program because she jumps at the end?! You said yourself that jumping is not more important than artistry so why do you care if she jumps in the beginning or at the end?
I wish that the rule was that only your most difficult jump after the half got credit.
Why such not professional commentators? It is norm for Canada?
Trash commentary, Canada at its worst. (after the envious commentary at the Rostelecom Cup from Ms. Lane)
Respect is for other people.
These commentators should learn to respect, and keep nasty comments to themselves. Go Alina!! I love you God bless you! 🌹💓💓💓
David is completely right that the composition component should come down - I was shocked someone actually said it.
Jorge Bonilla The PCS chart says this about Composition.
“An intentionally developed and/or original arrangement of all types of movements according to the principles of musical phrase, space, pattern, and structure.” Backloading is actually quite fitting for Don Quixote.
Hope the commentators choked on the shit that was coming out of them during Alina’s performance after Alina once again won! Zagitova is brilliant!
Commentators u r rotten and old school. U people jealous people. Because u can’t do u like her
I love Alina but Jesus, these comments give me live! 😂😂
I never knew Canadians can be so bald but I *love* it. The shade!!
Never laughed so much during figure skating video, haha.
Someone's feeling threatened? 😈
But they made some good points too. Just A++
according to the first guy, frontloaded programs from the past, with skaters trying to land their jumps as fast as they can, were ok and pretty well balanced. but backloading is evil and should be punished in the PCS. i see a very good point here. lol. he doesn't sound hypocritical at all
Yeah, like I said I don't agree with *everything* they said. That remark was pretty hypocritical of him.
"Someone's feeling threatened?" honestly the commentators, they are clearly envious that Medvedeva, Zagitova, Kostner and Higuchi are now ahead of Osmond.
That's not part of Canadian culture. We don't get jealous of other countries.
Ummm, are we listening to different commentaries? Because I just came to the whole back and frontloading part, and here, let me transcribe it for you: "When we skated, everything was most likely front loaded, we wanted to have it landed."
Considering they are speaking about the 'Olympian cannot fall' (to borrow B.Orser's words) era, it's pretty logical sentence, and I don't hear anything about frontloaded program being better balanced than backloaded one.
That's the comparision of most popular tactics then and now (No bonus for second half+fall being more costly than a pop in 6.0 vs exact opposite right now) is actually quite good to explain to let casual viewer understand why the hell they see something very differently composed to the rest of the ladies' programs, and why commentators find it a bold move, at the same time understanding the reasons of that move (Bonussss)
As I see it, some butts are hurt on both sides, and people are shocked that those 'Meeky, polite, apologetic' Canadians actually can joke and criticize (they're human!
WOW. Phenomenal
oh my God, could there be any more hate in their words? just disgusting commenting
But it’s true… 3Lz_3Lo is UR and it’s not very valanced program…
Come rosicano i commentatori canadesi
These Americans are mocking her throughout the whole video .. let me go watch the version of the British commentators instead
I love the commentary! Kurt and David speaking the truth.
if that is truth, so what about the choreo from Osmond? Do they know that swans should be more or less balletic, not chaotic? They are just riling up their spectators against those, who can beat Osmond.
This has to do with Zagitova's skating, not Osmond's. If you listen to their commentary on other skaters, Zagitova isn't the only one they have constructive criticism for. I'm not sure what balletic has to do with this, but Zagitova certainly isn't even though she pretends to with the tutu. Wakaba should have won this competition. That Zagitova had higher PCS is outrageous.
И ещё, Алина, ты такая красотка, нормально полноты сделай , что за ближе то? Не хватало ещё на ОИ так явится
Humble yourself and honeydew down goes the Queen
Okay let me make this clear, IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THE IJS DO NOT COMMENT ON THIS VIDEO!
The tights over the back of the boot is disgusting. Also, I hate back loaded programs.
Great skate from Alina. Commentators acted unprofessional
The commentators are rude and sassy as f!!
ALINA SUPER MERGAITE
спалилась канада
Commentators are not very good! It's unpleasant to talk during the performance of an athlete! In Canada, it's so accepted !? Athletes are not respected, except their own (((
It is very good every commentator should do the same.
Then you are a fool
That’s exactly what commentators are supposed to do
Horrible commentators.
Good job commentators! Your honesty is nice
an unbalanced program but thank goodness for the "zagitova"" rule
Ok this is a good skate..so wtf commentators ? Let me go and watch them comment on Gabrielle Daelman’s .. -.-
Are these the worst commentators ever? Wtf?
such biased jealoused speculations from that comments
The honestly of these commentators.... Can they please start out as judges
I love Alina, but what's wrong with that long skin color spandex until covered the skate boots
Что за гоблины это комментировали?)) Болезные
So honest *lol* i don't know canadians can be nasty too
Yeah, i mean they didn't hold back at all that they became so disrespectful towards her. Not that i agreed with their comments
I don't think people understand what's at hand here. They're speaking the truth about how the sport is judged and how russians are getting away with it just so they can always get 1st place. Only one of her 3Under rotations were called that night, and she also got a 13 point personal best for the same program in just 3 months...
yall liked the CBC commentators when they were taking down bobrova but criticizing zagi is not ok? lol
U can’t judge only comment. Judge give her highest number for her. And can’t be judge place never ever. U did fool in ur past skating every one. I saw I got Shoken. How u skate.
they are telling the truth lol. They are not attacking the skater but the system, dont get triggered
LOL what's this guy's problem???
They’re being harsh but there’s truth to it. Alina’s a fantastic skater but backloading your program isn’t a well balanced program and the problem with the ISU these days is that they don’t show that in their component scoring, they still give marks when the program has nothing for the first half and is rushed in the end.
Колготки
Love the commentators....they tell you the truth in her program. Her jumps are almost all poorly executed. She just had the ability to hit the ice a little under rotated.😀
ALSKW They are DRAGGING HER
If they don't give unders to the Russians, then maybe they shouldn't give unders to other skaters too. Like Mirai.
Alina got an UR for her Lutz
