"When things go wrong you start noticing the problems". WELL then then Kaetlyn popped AND fell, you must've notices MANY problems if you already see many with just a turn-out and step-out in a properly choreography ballet program
The constant propping up of Osmond is such a joke. She's a fine skater, but she's in no way artistic and she's usually a headcase. Hearing Canadians gripe that she should have won the Olympics shows that Canada is even worse than Russia when it comes to politicking.
"Almost cheating"? What are these comments? I'm old but Scott is older than me, and I remember how it was during the old system when many would do their most if not all jumps early in the program. This 10% thing has always been an option for everyone in CoP, but suddenly when someone actually does it, it's "almost cheating"...
Su Ki he just doesn’t like the Russians standing in the way of his favourite skater Osmond. He actually said that in one of the Grand Prix events that she is his favourite. VERY Unprofessional of him to say that comment
alex8matt Actually, he likes Zagitova. He said she’s one of his top 5 skaters he’d watch right now without any jumps. So obviously he thinks highly of her skating.
oop that's my mistake, but the point about remembering things under the old system should still apply yet they're treating this as some extreme deviation.
He is just jealous Kaetlyn can't do that. It's not almost cheating, it's what the rules say. There is no rule that states skaters cannot backload their entire program, or that it makes it unbalanced if it matches the music. He just feels so defensive that Alina is better than Kaetlyn. Which is so awful because Kaetlyn is a very sweet girl.
Even if she doesn't backload, AND does all her jumps first half, she would only lose 4.61 points in the bonus. And still beat Maria and Kaetlyn. And she'd get more point in GOE for not stumbling like she did after she is tired. but if she puts only half her jumps in second half then she loses only 2 points. Or 2/5 layout like many people do then only 1 - 1.5 points ish. That literally does nothing to her score with the GOE boost from not being tired....
BossT It was difficult for me to understand your comment. The second part about changing composition. But what I am saying is that the backloading doesn't give her much advantage, if any at all in terms of scoring
This "almost cheating" comment is very unprofessional of Kurt Browning. It really sounds like sour grapes and that she is undeserving of the gold medal. I know commentators are supposed to lend some of their opinions and subjective thoughts, but he went over the line in his harsh and unfair criticism. I remember when skaters were criticized for front loading their jumps and doing no jumps in the second half. Well, now they've changed the rules and now people are complaining about a skater doing what they asked, to put jumps in the second half. He questioned her artistry and said it was not up to Karolina Costner's level, which may be his opinion, but to question Zagitova's worthiness for the medal is beyond the pale of good commentating. I hope someone said something to him about it, because he was very whiney in his complaints and critiques. Bring back Scott Hamilton.
R J Exactly. This is the code of points, you cannot blame the skaters for backloading in a program that has all the jumps on accents and the backloading fits the programs. That is maximizing the scoring system. The ones who don't do that is not simply because they do not want to; they cannot, and thus under this scoring system, are not as strong. You cannot expect someone, if they can backload to maximize scoring, to not do it just because people don't like it, or that other's cannot as well
R J Excuse me for my english. Virtually no one in the world can jump in the second half of the performance. Russian school of training is very severe. You Anglo-Saxons can not train their children on this system. You are looking for ways to compete with the Russians by changing the rules. Let your athletes jump in the second half. Your athletes are very old, you can not physically do it. ruclips.net/video/UypaOyt5FS0/видео.html
These commentators from Canada are simply envious and rude about other athletes not from Canada. I'm sorry to listen to them, but it was funny when they talked about free Osmond.
such a whiny dude...they say Canadians are polite and nice people LOL their commentators have ALWAYS been so “snarky” and borderline mean/disrespectful to Alina...giving “compliments” but being very sarcastic about her.
I know it's an old comment but they're not good commentators if they can't comment on anything but jumps, the first half of the program was a masterclass on artistry and beautiful choreo but they ignored it when they could've mentioned how graceful her movements are
She is one of the few skaters where the tanos actually look good
Trashcan't sofia samodurova’s tano💀
At least her step outs and turn outs are also in tune with music... wow.
She was looking like a beautiful flower....
Gifted talent. Thats the truth.

@@thesupremediva she's very artistic. Russia only has teens that retire at 18 lol

That's kinda why I didn't understand why they made her backload every jump when she literally could score higher with a well balanced one

Good to see you mentions these commentator specifically, not all Canadians like some other people. I'm Canadian and Alina is my favourite skater.
Someone finally told those commentators how to get her name right.
The crowd started clapping with the music 🎶🖐

When everyone admired brilliance and then the world got tired from losing and decided to change rules and then ban Russian skaters. Sad world
It's pretty funny when the commentators in Zagitova's fist half have nothing to comment on and bring out rubbish per minute they are paid for-
I know it's an old comment but they're not good commentators if they can't comment on anything but jumps, the first half of the program was a masterclass on artistry and beautiful choreo but they ignored it when they could've mentioned how graceful her movements are
The male commentator is silly
