I feel like Jack really needs to apologise to the audience for not allowing Tom to explain the first segment, since I am an idiot and wouldn't have understood if Tom didn't explain. I feel so welcomed when he explains the beginning segment, and then that warm feeling is crushed as Jack destroys the helpful description 😔
Yeah I agree. Who knows, maybe someone new joins the podcast and skips to this EP since they don’t feel like catching up right? I mean ok, be inclusive to the majority because that satisfies the margain. But still Tom is here for the minority! YES! For us! Love tom, appologize Jack!
Tom actually has a pretty good approach to informing a child about tragedy. It's important to acknowledge as an adult when you don't know things. Especially when talking about death and why it happens. There was a lot about that at my "dealing with grief" training at uni.
i know the shapes ! its like your dreaming but your'e awake it's terrifying, i often break out in a sweat and sometimes get nauseous, theyre a form of night terror
Bro i was getting those amd i thought i was going insane. I couldn't explain to people how it makes me actually anxious and scared thank you for saying it
I get the shapes too! i never knew how to explain it but I get the shapes and like I can only explain it as a parallax effect where everything feels like its getting smaller. Edit: now that I watch more I actuallyu get what both of them were talking about the shapeds and alice in wonderland thing
I was very confused during this podcast because they have a segment that wasn't explained very well. I had to do some digging, but apparently they have a segment where they talk about their worst moment of the week. Just in case anybody else struggled with that
I have the shape dreams too. I literally freaked out when you Tom started describing them. It's like you're in a factory or something and there's a belt of shapes you have to make, you think it will fit but it doesn't and the depth is so off and it turns out either too blocky or stringy or just completely wrong. Sometimes the shapes are people or they get mad at you, it doesn't make sense unless you have them really. It just gets all over the place and then somehow you get crushed or something and it actually hurts. The best way I can describe how it feels to be in the dream is hot and hard. Like it feels so tense and hot. I've had these dreams since I was young and I remember not wanting to go to bed for months because I was afraid to have the dreams.
I didn't really get it when they were talking about it in the podcast but this explanation made so much more sense. I defo had it when I was really little
Ive definitely had shape dreams when I’m sick and have a fever. My craziest reoccurring dream is a tall, blacked out man with a hat playing the flute but as he gets nearer, his face distorts and the flute is actually his tongue. It’s freaky and I hate it haha
Tom talking about playing tag with a kid and possibly wanting kids was so wholesome to me. I know he would be a very loving and fun dad. But it feels weird to think of him becoming a father. But it’s very wholesome to hear him talk about it.
Im SO glad jack talked about Alice in Wonderland syndrome, i get that when im trying to fall asleep its horrid, i get far to small im scared ill blip out of existence, or i feel to big for the bed rhat ill fall out but im too sleepy to move so i just gotta open my eyes and look at myself fr a bit to get a grip on reality
Real, I used to experience this all the time when I was younger (typically during a fever) it eventually became like a living nightmare, walking around the house and everything seemed massive, its so terrifying tom is so lucky he doesn't have it lol
when i was little id always hold my hand out and look at it because it looked insanely far away. i was really confused on why no one else experienced it. eventually my hand looked normal but i swear it was like rlly far off
I was looking into it a few years back cause I often get something similar during the day and also see it visually in the objects around me bending/growing/shrinking/moving. Neurologist told me it was visual migraines despite no pain and no other visual effect. Sucks neither conditions are concrete provable. To put a different spin of some of the other comments here, while the majority of it sucks, the only part I love is when it affects my legs and makes me (a very small 5ft woman) feel HUGE. What's so crazy about conditions like these is how it not only affects your perception of yourself but your surroundings, like I can feel how distant or close the ground becomes like the feeling you get when youre in really close proximity to something or I can feel it deeply in the chest when I see the room get longer or other people's heads shrink. Perception is so odd
Sometimes I get it too, it makes me feel like my head is slowly becoming massive, which feels terrifying even though I know that realistically my head is normal
I dont think i experience this but sometimes my vision warps late at night to make objects in my room feel far away. It makes it feel like I need to reach really far to reach my my desk or it'll make text on my phone seem super far away. Or sometimes my ceiling is really high
for everyone that might be new here and didnt quite get it jack and tommy actually have this segment they always start with every episode where they take turns describing their worst moments of the week
Sometimes cats and dogs act out for some attention, my best guess is she was trying to claw at the painting because it was getting her attention when you picked her up (even if she didn't like it) and kept trying to keep you around by climbing on you. Kicking you out of bed could've been her little "pay back", usually when my cat seems upset with me, I remind her that "you can't do that because X.Y.Z., but also remind her how much I love her. If a cat does something they're not supposed to do, I wait 3 times for her to stop, if she doesn't stop the 3rd time I move her and tell her not to do that thing, I take her out of the room and tell her "You can't be in the room until you stop doing that because it's not okay, you're grounded.", and then after maybe later in the day or the next few days, I'd let her back in that specific room to see how she'll listen and learn from her mistake. Animals love talking, and cats can listen, sometimes when you're talking to them they will clean themselves to "ignore you", but they can't help themselves but to listen and peek at you when you're not looking. EDIT: Also some animals act out when their owner/parent isn't home, and they may blame that on the person taking care of them at the moment, and since you were sitting on your own, that may be why.
I think the part about Logan Paul really covered how I feel about a lot of disputes between content creators. Often times some of them get so big headed that they forget the other person is a real person and how their actions can and will permanently tarnish any future relationship. Tommy was a pretty big fan of Logan and obviously had some respect for him and called him out on something that was definitely in ill taste, and instead of just. fixing it and apologizing. Logan decides to get aggressive and lose the respect of someone that previously respected him a lot (plus lost the respect of a lot of other people). It's insane how willing people are to just. lose their connections to others over internet stuff. So many people forget to have respect for the people around them nowadays just because they're online.
i think i have that now after listening to him talking about it and looking it up- thanks for the diagnosis. i get random black dots in my vision and it comes with random headaches.
YES to the shapes dreams Tommy brought up that explanation was literally bang on how it happens to me. Dunno how common it is - I’ve heard about really uncommon geometric nightmares. Last time I remember the fever shapes dream happening to me it was with what looked like pirate ships with the masts and everything and I would always wake up in a cold sweat whenever I went back to sleep that night. It was very surreal but in a bad way.
Finally someone else, who gets the shapes when sick!! I used to get them when I was young and sick, and while I was sleeping it feels like i was tripping balls and it was so weird , and yes the pipes were there too
Out of the blue while I was depressed about my cat dying, a friend knocked on my door and gave me a kitten. Don't give people pets without asking!! Anyway, I've been worried about her dying ever since...she's 15.
19:40 i've experienced a similar thing tom's talking about, but only when i had a serious fever. Whenever I closed my eyes I would see gigantic squares falling down on me, getting closer and closer, they also had a weird texture and all that made me feel extremely anxious and it made my head spin every time lol. it's crazy, I always felt crazy when talking about this
@@sophiegire9760 it really was awful, for me also the shapes were not random - my mom used to have a bed with those weird, big, firm couch "pillows" that had geometric shapes on them, so those were the shapes i would see when sick. also i said they were falling down, but it was more them just getting closer and bigger over and over again, making me think they would crush me
@@stvrmistic3700 no bc why did that actually give me chills... the hard pillow texture is exactly what i felt. and YES the giant shapes and the falling down it's like the exact experience
Thanks to jack during his ghost video I learned what Alice and wonderland syndrome is, and I now have a name for what happens to me, except mine is in the waking world, example, talking to someone or trying to listen to someone and their head will get really small or really big and it makes it so hard to pay attention to what they are saying
25:34 I think you are describing a type of fever dream. Every time I have high temperature and/or fever when I get sick, I have these infinitely looping dreams which make it really hard to sleep without waking up often. It would be either a globe revolving continuously in the same direction, or a basketball spinning on the rim of a hoop infinitely, or the long pipes from Pyro’s intro of the ASOT series that branch out and intertwine into infinity. I think this is literally where the term “fever dream” comes from.
23:42 yessss jack i know exactly what you mean!! it happened more when i was a kid but i get this too, especially with my hands feeling huge and almost swollen i guess. i hate it so much, it makes me feel nauseous and panicky. when i was a kid and it happened, i would get up in the middle of the night and be sick in the toilet, and my mum would be baffled as to why
CAT ADVICE When she's following you from room to room, she probably just wants to chill near you, like body doubling (two people bonding by being in the same room but doing seperate activities). So, to reconcile, you could do the same with her, and let her come to you. Example: if she's like sleeping somewhere, just sit kinda near her (but not right next to her). Also, if you do a slow blink while looking at her eyes, it apparently means "i love you". And, holding the back of your hand out for her to sniff will let you know whether she wants more affection (pats) or not depending on if she comes closer after sniffing. I hope this helps! 😺
i get the pipe dream everytime i get ill and its like so stressful i genuinly dread the dream more than being bed ridden for weeks it GENUINLY terrifies me the sharp corners and patterns with the rust its insane
its like being in a fish eye filter while still being zoomed in you feel everything so far away but so close and the pipes and corners unending plane of wriggling forms swarming in and out of the distended pores and honeycombed flesh.
23:26 when I sleep, sometimes (not quite rare, tbh) I feel like me or the bed is spinning around, and it’s like I can feel the earth spinning around but more violently or whatever. Weird.
The thing tommy said about imagining weird shit when ure about to fall asleep and sometimes get aware and wake urself up. I have the exact SAME experience you're not the only one lol
I don’t have the shapes but I am also very aware of when I’m about to fall asleep! It’s starts with imagining random shit, hearing myself snore then actually falling asleep.
Hi SUIT! love the podcast but I've just got one suggestion since sometimes it can be quite confusing to listen to you guys in the background while I clean. If you can possibly take a small bit of time to explain the different segments and how they work that'll be super helpful, especially the first one as that really sets the podcast tone!:)
25:30 nah mate ur not alone, iv had pretty much everything ur describing happen on and off all my life! I was listening to this in the background while drawing and was like 'omg thats what i have!!'. The crazy dream stuff has increased in the past 3 years since iv got cfs and that weird trippy dream thing has gotten so much more frequent. I notice i tend to get it more when im drifting in and out of sleep ie, during waking up or falling asleep, or when i have a light sleep. It most frequently happens when i fall asleep sitting up (due to the cfs again lol) and im drifting in and out of sleep. I just assumed i had mental dreams, but seriously, its the weirdest feeling, its so unerving
I TOO OFTEN SEE THE SHAPES WHEN IM ILL!!!! YES! ITS HORRIBLE!! its often in the middle of a dream so i wake up in tears because it just HURTS!!! im so glad im not the only one who experiences the shapes
54:33 you gotta give the kitties more and different scratching posts. sometimes they get bored with the main ones so just add some more, and give her some treats and she’ll be fine with you eventually
i thought i was the only one who got the shapes. whenever i fall asleep when i have specifically a sore throat, i have a dream where surrounding me is just like a weird spiral and every time i move my eyes or look around, the shapes move to adjust. i dont have to put them together, but when i try to touch them, they are either further away then i thought, or my hand phases through. hope this helps ig?
I get really horribly stressful fever dreams with the worst combination of soft and sharp feelings and shapes, sometimes I am forced to re-arrange the room (literally, not the furniture but the very fabric of space) with an immense feeling of guilt. Also there have been some really weird lines of metal thread going across the room with American football-like objects on them. Then I panic as I wake up until I realize I woke up
19:00 The dreams with the weird shapes are sometimes referred to as Timaeus dreams. When you're experiencing one, you usually feel this enormous amount of dread. And it feels like they last forever, like time has slowed down. Apparently they are most common with children or when you're ill. Source: I saw this video about it that linked to a forum post. I also experienced these when I was a kid. I remember seeing a lot of green lines on a black background and waking up because I was scared.
I actually kind of do have 'the shapes' but I've had it a few times where I'm asleep or half asleep and I also have like weird lines/pipes but they all move and connect together and start to make cubes. I've gotten it several times, all when I'm Ill and it's really weird.
I UNDERSTAND THE SHAPES!!!!! I've never heard of anyone else talking about the shapes but when i've had a fever theres rockets you gotta stop from building and you wake up and it keeps going and it's terrifying
1:20 figure what out?? Sorry I just started watching this because I was intrigued from the thumbnail but I can’t believe Jack didn’t let Tommy explain the first segment im so confused :(( /j
Idk if anyone’s said this already, but that period right before falling asleep that Tom’s describing is called Hypnogogia. A lot of artists have historically used this period to come up with abstract ideas!
I get the shapes!!! I have never been able to explain it but I experience it almost exactly how Tommy describes. Never heard anyone else describe it the way I experience it. Its like a weird angular "game" or task that you can never win or complete. It is intrusive and makes it impossible to sleep. Usually it happens for me when I am sick or in a lot of pain. I get it with migraines sometimes. You are not alone Tommy!
OMG I GET HAD A VERSION OF THE SHAPES WHEN I WAS YOUNG there were objects of both unimaginable mass and size and just normal size, so a sphere that was bigger and heavier than a star but it was, at the same time, the size of a baseball. wild stuff
Seeing shapes in fevers are quite a common thing between my friends. I don't know anyone else, but my experience when young was that i would see shapes of block and cylinders piling on me, falling on me and making it hard to breathe. One time it was even creatures. Like, demonic creatures. That's probably something else
new viewer here! im sorry but im a little confused, at the beginning of the episode they started talking about their worst moment of the week and i dont quite understand what that was. does it happen every week? is it a recurrent segment? if so, they really should explain it
ooh wow first comment, i cant ever miss a shut up im talking video :D tom every episode just explaining the worst part of the week "segment" i feel like hes just purposely just doing that to annoy jack and its so funny lmao
On the topic of THE SHAPES, I get a folding/doubling dream in the same genre. Imagine ruler unfolding, but each time it does, the next flap is double the length of the first, and I have to count/travel along it. For whatever reason it fucks me up, and I can imagine how the geometry stuff plays into it in a similar way.
I GET THE SHAPES! Mine is like a heart or a sort of living thing in front of me that like changes and kind of collapses into itself but with like the pipes and sharp corners and such. I always described it like a pile of wire that moves from inside but it's sharper. It's always a coppery reddish colour too. It happens when I have a fever it is awful ngl

I took a bite of my nice dominos cookie just as Jack stated that he 'painted the toilet bowl' and I nearly choked LMAO
Tubbo would be the type of person you would not expect to punch you to the moon😂
LETSGO exactly what I needed today. SHUT UP THEY’RE TALKING
i was watching an old episode and they drop a new episode!!! Lets goo

CAT ADVICE
When she's following you from room to room, she probably just wants to chill near you, like body doubling (two people bonding by being in the same room but doing seperate activities). 😺
NEW SHUT UP IM TALKING EPISODE OMGGG
i get the pipe dream everytime i get ill and its like so stressful i genuinly dread the dream more than being bed ridden for weeks it GENUINLY terrifies me the sharp corners and patterns with the rust its insane
its like being in a fish eye filter while still being zoomed in you feel everything so far away but so close and the pipes and corners unending plane of wriggling forms swarming in and out of the distended pores and honeycombed flesh.
@@hutiiiii. my shapes only happen when i close my eyes and i focus on the darkness
@@hutiiiii.ur safe here, its the real world and ur awake. they cant get u❤️❤️
23:26 when I sleep, sometimes (not quite rare, tbh) I feel like me or the bed is spinning around, and it’s like I can feel the earth spinning around but more violently or whatever. Weird.
43:34 for Logan Paul stuff
THANKS BRO 😁 much appreciated!
THANK YOU
THANK YOUUUUU 👏🏼👏🏼
Thank!
20:44 I also get paranoid fever dreams they feel like video games??? I also don't feel real like I don't clock that im existing lmao
This is definitely my favorite part of my week‼️
The thing tommy said about imagining weird shit when ure about to fall asleep and sometimes get aware and wake urself up. I have the exact SAME experience you're not the only one lol
I don’t have the shapes but I am also very aware of when I’m about to fall asleep! It’s starts with imagining random shit, hearing myself snore then actually falling asleep.
I have the wild fever dreams. never heard anyone else have them - except mine also have glass tingling sounds everytime i go near the pipe metal mass
Hi SUIT! love the podcast but I've just got one suggestion since sometimes it can be quite confusing to listen to you guys in the background while I clean. If you can possibly take a small bit of time to explain the different segments and how they work that'll be super helpful, especially the first one as that really sets the podcast tone!:)
54:26 treats and toys
42:55 Me and Jack had the same reaction 😂
We both went, “What?” At like the exact same time. This ain’t real 😂
we shutting up with this one🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥
23:52 OMG?? I HAVE NEVER HEARD SOMEONE TALK ABOUT THIS. WHENEVER IM SICK I COMPLAIN ABOUT HOW MY HANDS FEEL BIG 😭
i see the shapes i used to see them and they'd smash together and it was really loud and stressed me out alot like id wake up in tears
will be drawing to this ty shut up i’m talking podcast
I don't have the shapes but i do have almost the exact same selfaware thing when falling asleep as Tommy
Ngl I thought I was the only person that got the shapes
same
nice to know other people get the shapes
bro i thought i was the only one that felt evil for the “hurt them worse” thing
Jack thinking adrenaline makes him a bad person is kind of crazy
OMG THE SEGMENT BIT IS SO FUNNY EACH TIME WBXJDJE
i thought i was the only one who got the shapes. whenever i fall asleep when i have specifically a sore throat, i have a dream where surrounding me is just like a weird spiral and every time i move my eyes or look around, the shapes move to adjust. i dont have to put them together, but when i try to touch them, they are either further away then i thought, or my hand phases through.
hope this helps ig?
I get really horribly stressful fever dreams with the worst combination of soft and sharp feelings and shapes, sometimes I am forced to re-arrange the room (literally, not the furniture but the very fabric of space) with an immense feeling of guilt. Also there have been some really weird lines of metal thread going across the room with American football-like objects on them. Then I panic as I wake up until I realize I woke up
I feel ill just thinking about it
19:00 The dreams with the weird shapes are sometimes referred to as Timaeus dreams.
Can you guys do an episode where you just talk about your dreams? I think it’d be really interesting
the bringing up of house single handedly made me subscribe to the patreon
I actually kind of do have 'the shapes' but I've had it a few times where I'm asleep or half asleep and I also have like weird lines/pipes but they all move and connect together and start to make cubes. I've gotten it several times, all when I'm Ill and it's really weird.
YES! Another Shut Up I’m Talking episode!! And Jack, let Tommy explain the segment :P
I had the shapes when I was younger but they left for some reason so yay maybe it’s the dreamcatchers
i 100% get the shapes i fully understood what he was talking about i just never knew how to explain it
me too
Same
the realising when you're falling asleep and not wanting to is so real though
"AH IMFALLING ASLEEP!" i do that too tom XD
20:00 the way my fever dreams are the exact same?? are overlapping colorful pipes and a stressful situation just common symptoms 😭
I UNDERSTAND THE SHAPES!!!!! I've never heard of anyone else talking about the shapes but when i've had a fever theres rockets you gotta stop from building and you wake up and it keeps going and it's terrifying
1:20 figure what out?? Sorry I just started watching this because I was intrigued from the thumbnail but I can’t believe Jack didn’t let Tommy explain the first segment im so confused :((
/j
This is in fact my first episode I'm watching:D although i plan on watching the rest obv
I actually love the sweet moments we get to here from this podcast like the weekly tag sessions.
My friend called Jack "Jack flapifold" today and I nearly cried
The dream thing is so real- when I have dreams when I’m sick I’m trying to solve problems with numbers and colours that I don’t understand
Idk if anyone’s said this already, but that period right before falling asleep that Tom’s describing is called Hypnogogia. A lot of artists have historically used this period to come up with abstract ideas!
Jack please allow Tommy to make this podcast more accessable by letting him explain the first segement
"im 50% white and other 50% poc (point of contact)"
OMG I GET HAD A VERSION OF THE SHAPES WHEN I WAS YOUNG
there were objects of both unimaginable mass and size and just normal size, so a sphere that was bigger and heavier than a star but it was, at the same time, the size of a baseball. wild stuff
Seeing shapes in fevers are quite a common thing between my friends. I don't know anyone else, but my experience when young was that i would see shapes of block and cylinders piling on me, falling on me and making it hard to breathe. One time it was even creatures. Like, demonic creatures. That's probably something else
Omg the shapes! I have those everytime when I am sick!
20:20 i also see the shapes when i get sick but mostly i have nightmares about really big numbers
new viewer here! im sorry but im a little confused, at the beginning of the episode they started talking about their worst moment of the week and i dont quite understand what that was. does it happen every week? is it a recurrent segment? if so, they really should explain it
ooh wow first comment, i cant ever miss a shut up im talking video :D
tom every episode just explaining the worst part of the week "segment" i feel like hes just purposely just doing that to annoy jack and its so funny lmao
The only time Tommy is self aware is when he's loosing conciseness.
I get the shapes too! Except mine aren’t rigid, they are like blobs 😅
20:00
Ohhh the shapes
I GET THE SHAPES! Mine is like a heart or a sort of living thing in front of me that like changes and kind of collapses into itself but with like the pipes and sharp corners and such. I always described it like a pile of wire that moves from inside but it's sharper. It's always a coppery reddish colour too. It happens when I have a fever it is awful ngl
A few of my friends see the shapes too, I guess it's a sleep fever thing or maybe anxiety idk
Absolutely thrilled to know that "The Shapes" aren't just a me thing
Me: I don't like drama
Also me: watching this
JACK YOU CANNOT LEAVE US WITH THAT.... UGH....
