    Great Detective work Lyle! In my 30 plus law enforcement career, and assigned as an Auto Theft Detective, I concur with your investigative talents. Thanks Lyle this was great info. My daughter is an investigator for insurance fraud. She told me they even set up banks to show someone when buying a car that they have the funds and they can see the transfer of those funds... bottom line is they leave with the car saying it should take a few hours to see in his account.... which never happens.

    This is the first video I've watched on your channel - it popped up in my feed, and why not - I'm a car guy! This is great information & advice for those who may be a little less informed, or perhaps too excited about a potential purchase without considering the pitfalls. The delivery in this video was perfect, as well as being short & sweet. I will confirm, everything is a scam these days. I find myself always watching my own back, as well as others around me. The world has changed - you truly have to practice "zero trust" (a concept often used in the computer world) and go from there.

Me and my buddy Steve who is nieve of this very subject 😢 have been on 4 of these wild goose chases.... only to find the complete opposite of what they told him over the phone.... when we arrived.... Anyone wanting a Corvette needs to go to Carlisle and actually talk to people at the car corral at the back of the fair ground. Best to assume all matching numbers cars are fakes, that's why I hate that term. Find the right block within the right date code and stamp the block and viola, matching numbers! So its really a joke. Unless you know the car or its a well known Bloomington or NCRS car, don't pay extra because good chance its a fake and who knows what it really was.

    There is another big one to talk about. I sold a 1972 about 15 years ago with 90k original miles I was the second owner. I miss it but family happened and it was sold. Well last year it was up for sale with 60k original miles, it was mine, I knew the car and they had it for 15 years it all matched up. I even had the window sticker and it matched the numbers, if this guy was honest I would have given him those items I still had. Anyway mileage is a lie and I see cars ads saying 20k 40k 60k original with worn out interiors and etc, etc. That is a big one in the market place that is in my opinion a scam. I don't even look at mileage anymore when I buy and old car, I look at condition and if its a good value, anyway thanks for listening, good videos.

    Great advice.This should be for all cars.BUT….”There’s a sucker born every minute.”
    Are there companies that build Corvette kits like companies that build the AC Cobra
    roadsters? 🐍
    Is it true during 1969-1970, GM
    went on strike. I read during that time the VIN was not stamped throughout the chassis. I own a 69 Roadrunner.
    The VIN is stamped on the radiator core support, fender tag, windshield, door tag, and rear 1/4 gutter.

    • @csvette
      @csvette  Год назад

      To the best of my knowledge, that is untrue. While the Corvette never had as many stamping locations as your '69 Roadrunner, it was on the frame in at least one/two places on every car made. Lyle

    I have a stack of scammer checks for cars. I lead them on but they never follow thru all the way to pickup the car and 'refund'. Vette story - a fleeing felon in a van wrecked after being shot in the pursuit at 2am, kicked in a near-by garage man-door and there sat my buddy's 69 Stingray, key in slot. The felon rammed the Vette thru the garage door and fled a second time, backtracked until he rolled buddy's Vette on the outskirts of town. Buddy was awoke by police knocking on the door at 3am, not knowing anything had happened.
